  1. Been there, done that with SuddenLink before Altice bought them. Woke to the notice that my internet was blocked and to contact them to contest it. Like you,it was for torrenting some cartoon. Like I told them at the time, I'm almost 50.If I'm gonna torrent anything, it'll be porn. They told me to change my password to a more secure one and turned it back on with a warning.
  2. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Headphones-Bluetooth-Detachable-Canceling/dp/B0D78T44HJ Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal.
  3. What I'm waiting for is one of these manufacturers to turn around and say a car's warranty is void because the diagnostic system wasn't engaged when the brakes were changed. I'm sure the computer keeps a record of each time it's opened.
  4. I was surprised when I ran across a video about this issue, then even more surprised when a story about the breaks and why they were safer and now being used on most cars wouldn't allow the comments section to open so I could post.
  5. A lot of states are starting to look closer at the data centers that are trying for tax breaks to build because they're saying they'll offer all these jobs, but the people realized they were including the construction jobs in the new jobs created. So,few long term jobs, and even fewer with Ai replacing some of the regular staff that would have been hired. That's great as long as they get them built. One story I was reading was saying how a new Ai center being considered would be dependent on purchased power from the grid and additional fossil fuel generated power for several years until the nuclear vessel (for the reactor) could be purchased, assembled, and approved. Then you also have to find the towns that WANT a nuclear reactor in their back yard with no real benefit for them.
  6. https://openai.com/index/openai-amd-strategic-partnership/ Consider that a nuclear power plant puts out an average of 1 gigawatt of power and OpenAi is contracting for 6gigs total with 1 gigawatt in 2026 alone. Where is this power going to come from when the U.S. already suffers from rolling brown outs in the summer with storms effecting the power system? Before demands like this can even begin to be considered, the whole grid needs to be upgraded and stabilized!
  7. W11 is the latest version of Windows 8 like 8 was the latest version of Vista.
  8. OMG! You want people to do their jobs? You revolutionary you! Seriously, I was watching videos about the Uvalde school shooting settlement, and 1 reactor commented that our police are more concerned with staying "safe" than keeping the public safe. They're all commando g.i.Joe with the unarmed traffic stops but they wait until the active shooter either suicides or walks out and surrenders. The tort laws in Oklahoma are so whack that unless the doctor cuts the wrong part off,you may as well forget suing for malpractice. Like George Carlin said, "It's A Big Club And You Ain't In It!"
  9. I brought all this up because I went to the store and couldn't pay because my bank was in the middle of a reset from an attack. Over 18 hours with no access to my money, but the government is insisting on everyone who gets a check has to have direct deposit. They reduce the number of people who work on cyber security by 2/3's yet want us to calmly drop money in banks to be hacked. As for social security, at my office, I have to make an appointment ahead of time if I want to visit them. No more walk in appointments. Calling, you have to wait for someone to call back within 24-48 hours. Government cuts for savings and efficiency. Wanna save money in the government? Get rid of the "Former Presidents Act" right now it's costing the US over a million dollars a year just in pensions to former presidents. That's not even counting the staff and office space they get paid by tax payers and secret service details that they get that are paid for. lol ok rant over.
  10. CISA workforce cut by nearly one-third so far WWW.CYBERSECURITYDIVE.COM The agency has lost roughly 1,000 staffers in the wake of the Trump administration’s workforce cuts, losses that could imperil its ability to protect government computer systems... When you're watching your country cut its own throat, you have to laugh because it hurts too much to cry... This while our justice dept,Insurance agencies, airlines, and multiple banking systems our being attacked. BUT nobody would ever think it was a deliberate act to weaken the country. P.S. The 2026 budget proposal calls for over 1000 more jobs to be cut, bringing the CISA workforce down to 1/3 of what it was in 2024.
  11. I was playing some on my PC yesterday, and the graphics look better in 4k then they did before on the same hardware. 12. So, wife is playing retouched on the ps5 and to be honest it looks pretty sharp. Even the people look more life like and blood seems more realistic. She said action feels smoother but that may just be the added horse power from the ps5.
  13. Dying Light: Retouched Update Enhances Audio and Visuals This Week as Thousands Continue Playing the 10-Year-Old Zombie Game - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Techland is taking players back to Harran after 10 years with a surprise free content release for the original Dying Light that it’s calling the Retouched... Someone who keeps supporting a game 10 years after the release you have to respect at least a little. While DL2 may have been a it of a dog story wise, they are releasing Dying Light :The Beast which continues the story of the main character from Dying Light 1 on 8-21-2025.meanwhile they've tweaked the graphics and improved the audio in DL1 to make it better looking & sounding without needing new hardware. (hence Enhancement and NOT Re-Master)
  14. I called my service provider as a courtesy to let them know my number was being spoofed and spent20 minutes explaining to the rep that it was another persons caller I.D. that it showed up on. She kept asking if I could see my number when the call came in. smh it was an older lady calling me back apologizing for not getting there in time. That's how I knew it was spoofed, we hadn't used the phone yet that morning and she'd written the# down to call back.
  15. Less then 12 hours after responding to a post on X (formerly twitter) about their ability to protect the countries infrastructure, my phone number starts being spoofed in caller I.D.'s by spammers/robo callers. here's my post on X....
  16. I was looking at Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and noticed that it requires an SSD even under the minimum requirements. "Storage: 125 GB available space. Additional Notes: SSD Required." This is what the recommended says "Storage: 125 GB available space. Additional Notes: SSD Required; Performance scales with better hardware." So,if it's an SSD on SATA it'll suck?while an NVMe drive on pci express 3 might be barely playable,on 4 will be ok, and on 5 should get the results they show in trailers? Is this what they REALLY mean by performance scales with better hardware? or are they talking about needing a **80 or **90 series card just to keep the game from stuttering? This kinda confusion is what makes me glad I have the original oblivion game and don't need to pay $50 to get the remaster and also makes me glad my wife is a console gamer. I seem to remember a couple of other games also stressing SSD being recommended (Horizon Forbidden West was another I didn't get at the time because it required 150GB of SSD space and I hadn't put the 1TB NVMe drive in yet.) Guess the tech requires faster hardware to meet the systems demands.
  17. I had a heck of a time resetting a password when my government cell provider went through their accounts and closed the ones that they thought were inactive. When I went to get it reactivated they had to give me a new number. That made getting the text verification real fun.
  18. As someone who's last 2 card purchases were a gtx970 & a RTX 2070 I honestly think Intel is just as likely to fill my price/Performance needs. At least they are HONEST about what you're getting now.
  19. lol,the i7-2600 CPU my wife is running doesn't measure up to Microsoft s expectations.
  20. Just in time for those of us that are switching from Windows10 in August/September to be able to take advantage of.
  21. The section with Hyte was probably the clearest I've seen the tariff situation explained.
