In non-related Starfield news, there are a ton of sales right now. I won't go into the details 🙂 Banner images and links below

GOG has a sale going on also. If anyone's missing any of the Metro games or DLC's you can get the entire Metro Franchise (3 main games + 2 DLC addons) for $9.59 if you know someone who needs some shooter to start with it makes a nice cheap gift also. 🙂

I really do need proper controller for this. I've been using my Xbone controller, but I'm unable to get one that lasts more than a year before it breaks. I'm not even abusing it, it seems like Microsoft aren't making controllers like they used to.

I'm thinking of getting the full Honeycomb setup because it's great for GA planes as well as Boeings. It's going to be a while before I'm able to buy one, so it looks like no MSFS for me for a while.

The wifes controllers seem to last a couple years max before the buttons or stick * the bed on her(she uses them for at least a couple hours most days) We just replaced ps4 and xbox1s controllers last week, we're probably gonna spend the extra for the elite on the next xbox controller 'cause you can replace buttons and sticks on them. Oh, xbox lower the warranty time on the standard controller down to 3 months now that the elite is out. Use to be 1 year, Walmart offers a 3 year 3rd party warranty on new xbox wireless controllers for $7.00 🙂 Might just start going with that.

  3. Great read, well written review. My ONLY question is in regards to the OCCT testing, it seems strange that the custom loop and air cooled score the same while I believe the AIO score a touch lower? (or maybe higher, not sure how the ratings are figured in OCCT) I would have figured the air cooled to be the odd man out if there was going to be 1.  Edit: Also curious what EK considers "normal wear and tear" my previous AIO had 1 year or 3600 hours. (they figured a work day) It lasted me less then a year because I rarely turn my comp off.

3.5.3. Cases when EKWB AIO product Warranty does not Apply

The EKWB AIO product Warranty does not apply if the AIO product has been installed and/or used in a mfanner that does not comply with user instructions, or has been fitted on unsuitable materials.

    1. Normal wear and tear
    2. If the EKWB AIO product has been modified or repaired by personnel other than EKWB’s
    3. If the defect or damage has been caused by accident, lightning, or other electrical discharge, fresh or salt water immersion or spray (outside EKWB AIO product specifications); or exposure to environmental conditions for which the EKWB AIO product is not intended
    4. where the EKWB AIO product is damaged as a result of abuse, accident, or other causes beyond our reasonable control

Looks like a smart solution to me.  I do have a question though, I thought those 16pin connectors could NOT be bent too near to the connector.  Isn't that going to be a problem on the backside of a motherboard, where there's usually very little space?

That is a fair point to be honest.

I'm sure ASUS will make a designer case for the designer board that compliments the designer card, maybe even a designer PSU? You know, a whole ROG system.... 🙄

  5. Well, the good and the bad of prime day shopping.... (Note that ALL 3 items arrived in tulsa tuesday night at the latest)

First we have the HDMI cables, no issues, then batteries, no issues, but when we get to the big money item, they screw it up.Was prime shipping when ordered, but got changed to later dates with orders placed the next day.🙄Edit: Fire Cube arrived Tuesday 7/18/2023,was shipped in brown paper bag that had torn so they folded/wrapped it all around the cube and used packing tape to hold it closed.Even though the box was torn on 1 corner it was where nothing was in it to be damaged(because packing keeps remote away from bottom of shipping box). While not happy with shipping, everything else is good so I let it slide this time.

Firefox, I think it's entirely on my end. I get this pretty often on other websites as well.

Same on my end, Firefox showing the same "No video with supported blah,blah..."

Edit: I just copy and pasted the address into a tab on chrome and it opened with the video ready to play with no issue, so my guess is it's a video codec that Firefox needs added to it's extensions.

Edit#2 If I right click the video, it gives me options (see attachment screenshot) and opening it in a new tab the video plays fine. 🤨 Anything to make me work an extra click into viewing experience lolScreenshot_854.thumb.jpg.0cf5b47e0e0ac66d2e7f6bc0587913d3.jpg

Mostly true bud, but not necessarily pointless (at least in my case).  Let me explain.

Over the three decades I've been online my personal data has been found on the 'dark web' multiple times. I dealt with each reported instance by keeping an eye my credit reports, while also enjoying the many free monitoring offers I was able to put to good  use as the result of becoming a member of a number of class action lawsuits (you gotta love lawyers' quests for big bux).

Anyway, back in February, 2022, one of the free offers I was enjoying at the time let me know that a T-Mobile breach had resulted in my social security number being found on the dark web. Mind you, I had dropped that T-Mobile account two decades back.

Up until recently, I did keep a somewhat careful watch on my locked-down credit reports, each of which I could easily unlock if I wanted to chase more credit. Since I've got great credit and a lot of it though, I gave up chasing those white rabbits for lent 😉

Lastly, in closing, there's also that shelf-expiration date that we're both aware of that's been slowly but surely creeping up on me that tells me thinking, uh, stressing about privacy in this modern age really is kind of pointless, as you suggested. For there might be more important things to think about now, e.g., like having hot fun in the summertime.

    ...or not  🙂

P.S. My new renewed Leap has shipped. Looking forward to it 😊

I hear you. The below is something I received just a few days ago and the breach was massive in terms of what was released by "Accident". It's just luck of the draw I suppose, but I've given up trying to ease the possibility. I was involved in the T-Mobile leak as well.

I think the best one I ever ran across was my bank card being declined 1 day but my wifes working. I tried 2 different places and even putting the # in manually and it was declined. I called my bank and they told me they had canceled my card as a courtesy because it had been exposed in a Burger King data breach. While I appreciated the concern,I would have liked it MORE if they'd told me BEFORE canceling the card, especially since I was planning to go out of town in a couple of days to be at the hospital while my wife had surgery. Would have been real nice to find out it was canceled after I was at the hospital with no way to get a new card or my ck book!(I don't drive)

  8. lol, if it cost more, it must be better? I guess a lot of people still subscribe to that train of thought. Nvidia's gonna have to realize eventually that just raising prices as the mood fits will only drive people into the arms of the competition (as long as THEY don't follow the price increase train)

  9. I ran across an ad for the ASUS RTX4080 Noctua OC card so I figured I'd look at it and see how much it was costing.

Imagine my surprise when it's the same price as an MSI Gaming RTX 4090. And,it wasn't the only one, other 4080's were listed at 1649.99 also, and 2 were $100.00 less than the 4090.

Where is the gap between cards for price=performance? Did they just leave any increase in performance out that was worthy of noticeable price jumps?
