    2022 Team Cup!

Guys, don't beat yourselves up over it. All of you went in knowing the hill you faced was steep yet you dared to climb it, that's what counts. Take what you've learned and use it to do better next time. Again I'll suggest you guys get in on the upcoming Country Cup comp for even more experience, you can't get it any other way so go for it, have fun and I'm sure whomever participates will learn even more by doing it.

    2022 Team Cup!

It ain't quite over yet - Now subs will be checked to make sure the results are valid and it's possible you may go up a spot if a team currently ahead of you get enough subs tossed. Just know the same thing can work against you too and drop your placement - That's why getting your subs correct when subbed is so important. Give it I'd say 3-5 days for it all to settle and the final rankings will be known but as is, be proud you're a top 10 team on your very first time out competing AND with many, if not most of you not familiar with the bot or it's comps. Use this as a building experience and take what you've learned in this one to do better later. Country Cup is next up and starts in November, some of you may want to compete there too for the experience that can be gained from that as well - In fact I highly suggest it. Relative to this - Congrats guys and well done.

    2022 Team Cup!

I'm going to caution you about something here - CPU-Z is NOT showing the actual MHz the chip was at for the run. If you have Cool and quiet enabled, disable it and try again. I've seen subs like this before but there was at least some indication of the actual MHz the chip was running at, there is no such indication here and this will probrably get tossed. Unless you were really running it at that speed this isn't going to fly very far. Tip: Proof means just that - That you can show and prove things to backup the results and if something is off or doesn't look right, check it and correct as required. I know you're probrably new to HWbot and their comps and that's OK, but at the same time it doesn't help either. Any sub that gets tossed on a technicality doesn't help you at all, plus may even get you in trouble as a potential cheater in the first place. Just remember this is a comp and the other guys WILL be looking for ANYTHING they can find to get a competitor's sub tossed. There is a joke that goes around HWbot that says "If you can't beat 'em, report 'em". That's why you need to check and double check every detail you can, including looking at other subs from others in general to have an idea of HOW it's supposed to be and go from there. Good luck, I know you'll get it right in the end.

Nope - That will get booted on the spot. The rules in general for Cinebench says no part of the rendered scene can be obscured so you can't have any CPU-Z tabs covering it or any part of it for that matter - And of course that applies to comps as well. I'll add if you think it's needed, include it anyway as part of the screenie so at least you have a better chance of it being right. Yep - It's a 3500+ Venice, a 3500+ Orleans is an AM2 chip.

I think you'll be OK N2, I've always known you to get it done in the end. Now...... I got the pot setup and will be getting my dewar filled, don't know yet what's gonna happen but something will.

    2022 Team Cup!

I guess you got your wish Pio, I'm in. I will say ATM I ran my X2 4800 in CB 11.5 earlier today and may do so later with it and something else, depending on how things go. Have to pay the roofer tomorrow so the work begins shortly after, also have to start getting ready for my procedure week after next and have that money for the co-pay available. Don't worry, it's nothing of concern but has to be done anyway and can promise you I'm not looking foward to it like all else medical-related.

    2022 Team Cup!

That's it - As long as it's enjoyable to do it's all good. I don't really care if any of my runs goes down, all that means is I have motivation to do it again. UnityofSaints can attest to that about me after we had our see-saw battle with our 8320's and 720BE chips - Lots of smack talk and Mhz acheived for good measure.

    2022 Team Cup!

That's the most important thing of it. If it's isn't fun it's not worth doing. Keep it real and keep it fun - I'm not aware of any hobby being done because someone didn't like doing it.

    2022 Team Cup!

I just want you guys to know you have the same chance as anyone else to do well. Of course I can't give away any "Secrets" I may have but nothing wrong with just telling the truth of it either. You guys really do have a shot at doing well and earning some respect too. TBH it's kinda doubtful I'll be able to participate due to a few "Things" thats happened over the past few weeks - All that is gonna cost me. Some of it is out of the way but still have alot left to go through yet. Biggest thing is the roof is leaking and I have to come up with a few thousand to get that done with insurance covering the rest and that's just to fix the leaks, not to repair the damage the leaks did. Already bought tags for the vehicles, fixed some of the old pick 'em up's problems but still have to finish rebuilding the front end and aligning it once done, property taxes due this month and that's not including doctor related stuff, including a procedure to be done later this month too. Hasn't been a good past month or so but I'm still here, far better off than many others and I'm thankful for that at least.

You guys are doing well so far! Top 10 and still in contention, that's how you do it. For being in your first comp you guys have nothing to be ashamed of with what you've been able to do up until now. With that, I'm about to..... Well, who knows what I'll be doing later - Even I can't entirely predict that.

    2022 Team Cup!

I'd bet that's it - Two scores from the same card model, it only lets the best count and disregards the other.

    2022 Team Cup!

You are correct in that the rules for the comp this year do not specifically say a system pic is needed BUT as a rule of thumb it's a good idea to have one in any comp you participate in. Normally this is a rule for comps - Not for subs in general so unless you want to provide a pic for a regular (Non-Comp) sub, you don't have to. As for subs counting/not counting, it can vary based on how the comp is layed out but in general if you post a score with a 12 core chip, then a fellow team member beats yours with a better 12 core score, yours is automatically dropped from the comp. The better score between yours and one that beat your 12 core score then counts for the team until it's beaten by yet another 12 core score from the team or the comp ends. If for some reason the one that beats yours is later ruled illegal for some reason and gets removed, yours is added back into que for the team's points total as long as it's a "Legal" sub itself. The rules at times are janky but they are what they are and we all have to deal with it.

That's because at this time it's the newest version being sold so you'll need a key for it. Most of the rest are "Legacy" and can be downloaded with the key for full functionality for free but the version that has CPU Max in it is the current version you can get, probrably won't be legacy for sometime to come unlike the others are now.

    No problem, glad I could.

    2022 Team Cup!

That's more or less a given in HWbot comps, you will need to have a pic of the setup with each and every sub you do. Unless the rules say specifically you don't need a rig pic, you need one.

    2022 Team Cup!

It's great to see you guys pushing things hard, this way the site gets it's name out there and earns rep for doing it. I will mention an obvious thing - Be sure to check the rules BEFORE subbing or even doing a run in a given category. This way your efforts won't be wasted and, in the case of an illegal sub you won't be penalized in terms of sub removal - If it's gets bad enough it could affect you directly so be sure to KNOW the rules before doing a run and go by them. If there is something you don't know or understand - Ask. Aside from that, good luck and happy hunting, benching.... Whatever works for you. EDIT: @pioneerisloud You are not allowed to "Downcore" chips, so you can't use the 1100T in the Stage 3 AMD CPU part of it. You are allowed to unlock cores though. You'll have to run either a true quad core or find an AM3 that you can unlock to 4 good cores to be legal. That's been a thing at the bot across the board so if you run your 1100T for that part of the comp it will get tossed. Only real exceptions are for benchmarks that core count doesn't affect the results of such as Super PI, lots of subs there with disabled cores and yes, I have a few myself that way.
  17. You're probrably right about that but in my experience it seems that way. Never had a problem with Nvidia cards but most distros woudn't work correctly with an AMD/ATI card. When I tried Peppermint it just worked as you'd want it to, no luck with any others I tried.
  18. Nope - Excessive waterflow can cause heat buildup in it's cooling system and yes, as said I've ran into that before and it took installing a good thermostat to restore efficiency. I've also seen some guys install a simple washer with a given sized hole (Has to be of a certain size) as a quick fix too until they could get a proper thermostat - The washer thing is also a drag racer's trick to get more heat in the engine to help combustion without it getting too hot before the run is done. As long as they don't mess around much getting a run in it works but know it's a low-tech trick, normally a "Hotter" thermostat is used. I worked on autos and heavy equipment (Diesels) for a living in the field out of a service van (Not in a shop) so I've seen it before happening for more reasons than you'd believe possible yet it did. As for PC's as I said above, I don't think they'll have any issues trying the pump they have.
  19. I actually recorded it so now I've got it even if it's removed.
  20. Actually it's possible to reduce cooling efficiency but that's in extreme cases only. Normally the rad can remove heat quickly enough it's not a problem to even consider. It's the same effect if for example you remove the center from a thermostat in a car, although water is flowing all the time it flows so fast the radiator cannot remove all the heat it needs to, leading to a slow but sure heat buildup in the cooling system. I've ran into that before so I know it's true but an auto is different than a PC, you're not dealing with the same amount of heat energy with a PC even though temps can be about the same when in operation at times. Thing is it always takes time to remove enough heat energy so you don't have heat buildup in the coolant - That being key to the problem and the sticking point of it if a problem exists. In PC cooling systems it's possible but extremely unlikely. If it ever happens it can be offset by installing a small restriction in the tubing somewhere to slow it down if you must. Be it an actual restriction in it somewhere, maybe a smaller piece of tubing/hose somewhere in the loop, whatever works to slow the flow is the way to go with it if such occurs. If your pump speed is variable you can always turn it down a little too. Also know larger tubing can be used too throughout the system, that tends to soak up some of the flow volume because it increases the volume of coolant flow and creates a slowing effect to the coolant overall, based on pump speed being the same. So... Take the pump and try it. I believe it will be fine but if not, a larger/extra rad inline for extra cooling area or stronger fans to the rad may offset it.
  21. Here's something you guys may be interested in and it's based on things that's long been proven to be true. Will It Run? Lawn Mower Carb on V8! (The "IMPOSSIBLE" Becomes Reality!) Start to Finish - YouTube
  22. With an AIO and based on my own results with custom cooling on chilled I'd have to say 5.1-5.2 max under load. Disabling cores will let you go further but you won't hit 6.0 - I never did that way.
  23. AMD GPU's and linux can be an odd lot to get sorted if ever. It depends on the distro you want to run, had the same basic issues with my Radeon VII and Linux not wanting to run it. Tried the Mint distro and it didn't work but then tried the Peppermint distro and it did fine. Unfortunately most Linux distros are "Nvidia-Centric" so you'll have to get and try different ones until you find a distro that works and that you like to go with. I would suggest Peppermint because it works but since the developer passed away in 2021 there has (To my knowledge) been no further development of it, Peppermint 10 being the last version released.... But ATM I am still using it (Pep 10) and posting with it right now.
  24. Late to the party here but I made it. I have seen 2000+ with 4 sticks in use but check out the specs of the sticks I was running in the CPU-Z tabs, that being a big factor in this. Was my daily system on air at the time when I did this and knew to take an example screenie when I got it. I believe I had RAM voltage around 1.72-1.75v when I did it, there was no need for excessive voltage. They did have air blowing on them, courtesy of my Scythe Susanoo CPU cooler. As for 6GHz on DICE, yes it can be done. Don't expect to see much over that, probrably 6.2-6.3 on average as a max speed with a few examples getting 6.5 or so but know the board and tweaks used matters as well. Thing is any attempts at such will take time, you won't just hit the power button and "Go", even if you know what you are doing. Once you figure it out then you can do that but know results obtained do vary from chip to chip and once again, it's largely based on what tweaks are used and how they are done.
