Logitech z-2300 circa 2007. 2.1 THX certified. Got it on eBay for about $80 in 2008 or 2009.

    It's 200w total- 120w to the 8" sub and 40w per satellite.

Thing is great for gaming and good for music, but for music I have my other stereo that's 500w. Sometimes I play music on the Logitech while doing graphic design.

Side note, big fan of changing some keys to translucent / smoked but the problem I've found is they never seem to last.  Can anybody recommend a remotely budget friendly but reliable brand?  Realistically only replacing the WASD and Arrows.  Thanks.

Are you talking about double shot shine through keycaps not lasting?

Go there and search for keycaps. YMDK is cheap and pretty reliable over time. I have a set from them that I've had for at least 5 years and they're like new. They also have a ridiculous selection of colors.

    Hope this helps.

Awesome - Hope you enjoy. Yea, the naming is sometimes confusing but I believe thats just branding. Any bean should be usable for any brew process.

Exactly what I was thinking. They mark it as an espresso, but in reality if it's beans it needs to be made in an espresso machine to actually be espresso. Otherwise, it is just beans you can just as well grind or get grinded and use in a "normie" coffee machine. lol

Since you do filter / drip, I suggest one of the blends. We did a taste sample of a few at the roaster, both in espresso and filter / drip  and I really enjoyed the Columbia - Caldas Blend, Analog Espresso, and the Echo. I typically prefer beans from Columbia after trying different types of beans from different roasters but this Echo so far is now by far my #1 favourite. The flavour profile is sweet / rich, and it has this effect, like an IPA beer, that hits the side of your tongue and really opens up a different effect. At least, thats how the roaster described it and I can concur! Super fun 🙂

Our goal in creating this contemporary espresso is to selectively source coffees that are sweet, fruity and chocolatey. We carefully and lightly...

I really don't think you can go wrong in other words.

Getting it but because we're in Murica, it's going to take 10 days minimum to arrive.

We're getting drip grind and it'll be made in our basic Cuisinart drip pot. Hopefully that is ok even though it's an espresso.

I'll report back with my thoughts on it once I have it. 🙂

  5. Fiancee has a GMMK v2 fullsize, currently with Box White switches and PBT pudding keycaps.

She said she really likes heavier switches now that she's been using her Keynovo IF98 with Box Heavy Pale Blue (60g I believe). So, I will be refurbishing her well- used GMMK with Box Navy switches, and that Great Wave Off Kanagawa keycap set that I took off of my Keychron K8.

Looking forward to how it turns out and if she likes it; it's not in my list in the spreadsheet but can be added once I finish it.

Went to Stereo Coffee Roasters in Toronto with my wife to try a few samples. Came back with a couple small bags.

Super excited to make some drinks with these

In other coffee related updates, I retuned our approach to brewing.

I now set our grinder closer to 3 instead of 4, and once in a while weigh the grinds to ensure Im around 12g for a single spout / espresso or 19g for a double spout / espresso. I still need to be on my toes per bean as every little adjustment makes a big difference, including tamping pressure.

Getting more flavour out of each pull with this finer grind and less guesswork with weight.

All way beyond me man, and my single serve Cuisinart I have every morning, french vanilla. And then a single cup of Columbian from the drip brew pot.

I can say that I am pretty much addicted to Cameron's black masala chai with brown sugar. If you or anyone else isn't aware, putting milk in tea causes the milk to bond to the catechins and make them inert. So you don't get the health benefits that come from drinking tea if you add milk or creamer. No effect from chemicals like ECGC. Nevertheless, we have Half & Half to make chai lattes with.

  7. Since my Keychron K8 Pro has custom Plum Crazy plastidip on the top plate, and I already have a Japanese art themed board with my GMMK full size, I decided to get some Kraken Keyboards keycaps for it.

Unfortunately the stock spacebar with this set broke (it was purple), but my wonderful fiance managed to dig up a black spacebar from God knows where so we used that.

    This is the set:

  8. Cooler Master Mastermouse RGB. MM520 I think. I use a claw grip for games sometimes but also a palm grip for desktop Linux use.

I *love* the ring finger rest on the side. Other people hate it and it confuses them and they end up turning it sideways either direction, kind of like that old Apple original iMac mouse that was a circle.

I was planning on U4Tx but a buddy of mine convinced me to wait. He's got a mountain of switches so I'm gonna visit him one of these days and raid his stash and see if anything else interests me more.

He's one of those linear-freaks (🙃) so I know he really just wants to try and tempt me to change teams, but we'll see.

Had to look those up. Never heard of them. I guess the ones I saw were tactile. Also, they are shaped like Outemu switches, interesting. So I'm guessing you're after tactile switches. Any ideas on keycaps?

If you want I have a big ass bag of Gateron yellows you can have for free. They're linear BUT until I looked it up I thought they were tactile. Actually feel pretty nice.

didn't know you were still updating it, but you can add my new keyboard too if stockies are allowed.

Keychron K8 Pro, Gateron Red switches, stock PBT keycaps. Unmodified for now, still deciding on switches and keycaps 🙃

Let us know what you end up going with for switches and keycaps. I also have the K8 Pro with Box Navy and Japanese art keycaps (that I'm considering changing to purple to match the purple plastidip on the board)

I think you knew that already though since I think I recommended the Keychron K8 Pro to you.

  11. It's perfectly understandable and (no offense) a generational thing and I think particularly with men. Don't sweat it. I can look up what having no spleen means or does to you on my own, or ask my mom who was a nurse for 25 years.

Either way, I wish you the best of good health going forward. 🙂

    Touche.

This is off topic though, the weather is getting better here which might mean I can post some photos of me rockin' EHW shirts next time I post in this thread.

  13. Thanks for sharing, guys. I knew most of speed_demon's issues from a Discord DM. Hope things get better for you soon.

Jan, thank you for the story and effing ouch! You're tough to survive that. What kind of issues does not having a spleen cause? I am also disheartened to hear you had a hospital stay recently, but if you'd rather not share I can understand why.

Me well, last year Sept. 8th I had surgery on my left hip to repair a torn labrum and hip cam and pincer impingement. It's helped significantly though I am still recovering so have some bad pain in it sometimes for a few days at a time. I did 4 months physical therapy twice a week as well (which more often than not set off the pain and made things worse). Long story short - I had physical therapy, I got an MRI and a CAT scan of my right hip and am due to have all the same surgeries on April 4th on my right hip. Followed by 5 months physical therapy. The left was done so now I'm set to do the right. Then we'll have to see about doing something for my neck pain, ECT wrecked my neck.

  14. I still play a very old psuedo MMO called Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst. It's essentially a PC port of a Dreamcast game with a lot of added content. It's futuristic, 3rd person dungeon treks. You get lightsabers, light daggers, a ton of guns if you're a Ranger, etc. Pretty much a futuristic Diablo. the max level is 200 and I think my Hunter is 182 and my Ranger is 186. It's a pretty legendary game, being the first online game of its type on a console, and one with a 56k modem but the netcode was so good that the game didn't ever lag, constantly ran at 30fps, and you could kill waves of monsters with character positions and animation and damage showing etc. on a 56k connection.

I'll post some photos of it maybe. I was playing this game a ton before I got addicted to Ragnarok Online, Lineage 2, and WoW.

    • Thanks 1
  15. Yeah I will have only be wearing mine every so often too.

As far as the shipping goes, I actually got both my t shirts in like a week. I thought it would be like 2-3 weeks which is what my mug took, but the shirts showed up pretty quick. Maybe I'm near the supplier. Who knows.
