Apple has already proved that ARM is the way forward. The M1 in the MacBook Air, the slowest and cheapest laptop Apple offer, not only performs significantly better than the i7 in my MacBook Pro, it also produces a lot less heat and uses a lot less power. We just need flawless x86 emulation and it could work on Windows just as well.

...if x86 (and with it games/sims/entertainment) can somehow be more than approximated, the expected 'convergence' with RISC and x86 would be truly underway....don't have a source handy, but I read somewhere that Intel and AMD are working on mCPUs with 'differential' tiles to accomplish this. Hope springs eternal...

Oh gosh, tell me about it! I have a Samsung Galaxy Book S, and I've already had to re-commission my old 2nd Gen i7 laptop to make up for some of the apps I cannot run on it.

Gesundheit for the cough ! Not clear what to do here if you look at my OP...over half is not Anandtech but refers to several other articles I read but can't find the source for ....that part is not particular to the article below, but nonetheless interesting. There is also the assumption that NVidia with its high-powered (but mostly non-obtanium) GPUs is interested in adding more general RISC to its future repertoire...worth keeping an eye on ARM and RISC..."

May be just delete that thread ? Tx

The top text are your words right? You don't need to delete anything, just add to it. Just quote the article and put that at the top of the OP, then the source, and then whatever you want to say about it after.

Also don't forget to update the title of the thread to match the article you're quoting.

Pro tip, there's nothing wrong with posting a screen shot of the article but you can also use the images from the article in the OP more directly by using the insert image from URL option and just copying the link to that image.

I have also seen this, that eventually CPUs will supposedly have both x86 and ARM based cores. I think it was on guru3d actually but it was a while back.
