"Nvidia GPU owners warned about serious driver bugs — update now"

Recommended Posts

For anyone with an Nvidia GPU, the graphics card manufacturer is recommending everyone update their drivers immediately. These bugs are affecting both consumer GPUs and enterprise customers.

The first bug you’ll need to be aware of is CVE-2021-1074. It could allow a malicious attacker to replace the application contents with compromised files.

Forgive my mistrust, somehow I feel like this is an attempt to get VBiOs updated to prevent mining.

But its only to do with the driver from the looks of things as opposed to a VBIOS update to mitigate the security issue. That being said I have had a couple of VBIOS updates to my 3090 via EVGA supposedly to enable RBAR but you never know lol.

I know it's driver specific, still, does not change my mistrust. I feel like they are trying to weasel something on our cards. MUST UPDATE IMMEDIATLEY! Just sounds suspect.

Ha, I know what you mean. It would not be too much of a surprise if something extra was popped in the drivers lol.

NVIDIA has gotten much better over the last few years of disclosing vulnerabilities.  Prior to that, I'm sure there were just as many issues, but they were probably just quietly fixed with new drivers.  Link to NVIDIA's Security Bulletin Page: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/security/ Link to the old archives: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/security/archive/
