I installed my 5950x last night and went through a few benchmarks and played around with PBO and the FMAX enhancer.  Was pleasantly surprised at how much the PBO actually did.  The question I have is... Is it still considered a generally safe method to get a basic OC or should I just leave it off... Temps don't seem to be an issue only reaching into the 70's

I use PBO extensively.  I manipulate the power limits (PPT/TDC/EDC), play with the scaler, do per core curve optimizer counts, etc.  If they provided the knob, I have probably twisted it, knowingly or otherwise 🙂.  Though the system I have done this on is strictly for my own education/entertainment.  Might be more circumspect if I was counting on the hardware for other purposes.

I've used PBO on both my 3950X and 5950X (Asus CH8 wifi, Asus CH8 Dark Hero) for a year + - , zero problems so far, though I actually leave the PPT/EDC/TDC values on auto for both.

FMax enhancer does work well with my 3950X, but not so much with my 5950X (though doesn't seem to hurt much, either)
