4K Recommendations?

Not necessarily something I want to jump into right away, but now that I have a 3080 Ti, I am thinking maybe I should move up from 1440p to 4k to really make full use of it. I don't really play competitive shooters or anything where I am looking for high refresh gaming necessarily.

 

I really don't know what to look for. All I can say for sure is that I do not like curved screens, and the 1440p display I have now is a 32" LG, which I have been happy with for the most part, though colors could be better.

...I'm going to sound like a LG sales person, but depending on budget and physical space, go for a 48 inch C1 or G1 OLED --- 4K 120Hz 1ms HDR Dolby Atmos etc.  Potential drawbacks for that one include sheer size and cost, and the work area should be free of bright, direct light. For me, it was the single-highest impact update, supercharging the GPU investments. Both Raven_A systems' GPUs (3090, 6900) are connected to it (as well as a 40 inch VA Phillips for secondary work functions) and the picture is breathtaking...

 

...apart from OLED, there are also some nice micro-LED HDR 'true computer' panels available. Even older-gen LG IPS HDR televisions actually still work well (4K 60)...the 55 inch in another room is connected to Raven_B dual 2080 Ti setup for lounging on the bed and playing a quick round of games on a lazy weekend afternoon...

Thank you, will give this a watch. Only concern here is its a size downgrade from the 32" I have now.

You know, I thought hard about a 48" LG C1, but there is no way I can realistically have a 48 inch OLED where my desk is. Not just because of the size, but also that room gets tons of direct sunlight. Wonder if they'd make a 42" or something smaller in the future? I'll take a look at some of your other suggestions as well.

...there have been several somewhat substantiated rumours about a 43 inch LG OLED panel, but it is not yet in their own retail portfolio. Other vendors (using exclusively LG's OLED tech / panels) might offer it, but I don't have any experience with those.

 

This > 'Unbox therapy' YouTube channel (over 18m subscribers) tests a lot of the bigger LG and Samsung display tech variants...same tech with tighter pitch would be in the 40 inch class.

if you're happy with 60hz there's a few (kinda) right around the corner. Asus ProArt PA32DC (32"), LG 27BP95E/LG 32BP95E (27/32"), and the ViewSonic VP32-OLED (32") are supposedly launching by Q3.

120Hz would be preferable, but not critical like they are for people who play shooters. I mostly play RPG's, survival, etc. I got CP2077 and Control waiting for me when this new rig gets built.

I'm holding out for somewhat similar (OLED, <40", 16:9, non-curved, and 120hz+) but I don't know of anything on the horizon

 

I'd settle for 120hz but I doubt anything is going to come this year. For the time being I'm happy with my PG239

When I bought this, my 1080 had gone out and like you,I don't really do many shooters so 60hz was fine for me. Wife nagged me to get something better than another 1080 so I picked this 'cause of the 4k and 1ms response. I like the colors and it has a fairly nice menu also if you want to play around adjusting,and HDR is a button on the front for on/off so when I'm browsing the web or forums I just turn HDR off.   Edit: I'm sitting 2 feet away from it when I'm at my desk so anything bigger wouldn't be realistic or fit.
