The latest rumor regarding the launch happening in Early Q3 2022 comes once again from leaker, Kopite7kimi. While we had previously heard about a Q3 2022 launch and September being a likely launch timeframe for next-gen cards, it looks like that may change and the launch could take place between July and August 2022.

Nope, happy to skip Fermi 3.0 if the power rumors are true.

...good thing I still have a couple of these in storage (2600W / via 2 PSUs and OC Link). Also, HWBot tip for home user: washer / dryer in the laundry room have some real nice power...

As to the "4090", this seems to be a much more differentiated card from the 4080 compared to the 3090/Ti and 3080/Ti in the current gen. It also leaves lots of room for RTX 4K  in-between models at/near the top end...Super Ti anyone ?

30-series has kind of been an outlier in typical chip tiering and branding from Nvidia over the last decade post-Fermi.

My guess is due to being on Samsung 8nm. They really were trying to squeeze out what they could. There's no way they were going to get away with a 3080 on GA-104 this round after Turing.

Otherwise, all the x80 non-Ti cards have been mid-range chips going back to the 680 with the exception of the 780, but it was heavily cut down. I suspect moving to a better TSMC process (I think 6nm if I recall from the rumors?) my guess is they can start segmenting the 80 class card down again. The biggest giveaway is the 16GB rumor. Back to 256-bit for the 80 card which would be the same as the 2080, 2080 Super, 1080, 980, 680.
