Oversupply, artificial shortages, or something else?

There's been rumors (thank you LTT -_-) that the future of PC's might be ARM.  Might be part of the reason?  Artificial shortages aren't exactly a new thing either.  Hard to say.

 

If rumors are to be true though, I'm not getting good feelings at all about the future of the PC.  I say this now, and I might eat these words in the future, but I might have built my last new PC with my 5800x / 6900XT build.  I have zero interest in Windows 11 ever (first time I can honestly say that about a Windows product).  And if the future is ARM, I have absolutely zero interest in that either.

I can tell my arm tablet with chrome os as fast almost as my 12700k windows 11.

 

I don't think we will go to arm. But there for sure a market down currently. I can't sell anything online seem like people are poorer with covid. And now mining took a big drop so they don't need as much gpu stock.

TSMC already said they will not reduce the order. It will be up to Apple and Nvidia to reduce the supply but they are on the hook for the chips. You don't get to reneg on a business contract that you signed.

 

Also this report is incorrect. AMD has not said they are cutting back.

I still think mining will take over the RTX 4000 series and make it hard for gamers to get cards but at this point most pc gamers are so far behind that upgrading to used 3000 cards will be a great deal for them. This might become a new norm of pc gamers being a gen behind and buying used from miners.
