It looks like when the new RTX 4060 Ti arrives, consumers will be able to acquire a 'next-gen' GPU with RTX 3070 performance for RTX 3070 prices.

A 6800xt is like 10 fps less at 4k than a 4070. Overclocked am sure i beat it. It a garbage card with less vram

Aside from the price, this is still a really nice card.

Getting 3070 performance at 160w is great. This allows for smaller coolers and lower wattage PSUs. People doing SFF would be over the moon. Or for us strange F@H folks, the new 4000 series is awesome. Way more PPD without dying of heatstroke when running a bunch of cards. 

 

I really don't see why they wouldn't at least stick with the $399 from the 3060ti.

Because the 4000 series is not a replacement for the 3000 series. It's an extention of the 3000 series that slots above it. At least that's how Nvidia sees it.

Oh yeah, there is no doubt the performance per watt gain is there big time with 40-series over the 30-series. It's just not great when literally none of these cards are actually price point replacements of their previous generation namesakes.

Obviously slightly outdated, but clearly they see these as coexisting product stacks. You want to be under $500? Buy last gen. That's Nvidia's message here.
