EHW Discord Server Migration

Hello all, 

 

With the recent events of my moving away from Overclock.net, the Overclock.net Discord server as it currently stands will now become the new EHW Discord. 

 

Why the migration ?

 

1. The Overclock.net Discord server has always been owned by myself and run by other members on the EHW team, namely @Simmons& @Andrew.

2. Owning and running two Discord servers makes little sense, with the current OCN server having the larger share of members, it makes sense to adopt the server with the larger presence and have anyone on the current EHW Discord server migrate over. 

 

Please note that the OCN Discord server was always member run and has nothing to do with VerticalScopes ownership.

 

What does this mean for existing members on the Overclock.net Discord server ? 

 

Ultimately nothing. You can carry on about your business as usual, all that will be changing is the servers name, banner and logo. Your service will be uninterrupted. 

 

Will there be any other changes ? 

 

Once we have fully adopted the Overclock.net server, there will be some additional channels added and some removed. The ones that will be removed are ones that have been long irrelevant and disused.

Yes.  @iamjanco I would strongly suggest moving your boosts over to the OCN server once we begin the transition process.  We will not be shutting the EHW server down immediately, so there will be a bit of a grace period once we establish a timeline for the migration.

I have spoken to him directly, the boost will be revoked for a refund and applied later to the server again once the move is completed.

Both Jan and I also boosted the server to level 1 before, not sure if that can still be revoked.

Unfortunately, yes. I don't think you can unboost a server and you (or at least we) can't transfer it. What we can however do, is give an honorary B O O S T Y B O I S role to Bastiaan_NL and iamjanco until they're able to boost again should they wish to do so.

I would like the HWbot section to be mirrored the way it is on the EHW currently if possible. Problem is that while you may combine the discord servers, the HWbot teams are still segregated. Hopefully this can be accomplished, but it feels a bit deflating as I have no interest in making announcements for or participating in OCN related HWbot affairs.

Yeah was wondering about that. I have never even joined the OCN discord so wondering how this move will go.

I am fairly sure that requirement has been abolished since the changes announcements @Andrew @Simmons

The bulk majority of OCN related content will be removed, effectively giving EHW a much larger server in the long run.  The plan for this migration is a general rebrand of the server, and OCN specific channels and chats will either be archived or removed.

The end goal is to have the OCN server essentially modeled after the current EHW server.

 

We do not have all of the details hashed out just yet for the migration, but any specific requests that you all have, we will take in this thread.

The messages in the original EHW will be lost as this is something that can't be transfered over, but we can recreate the channels.

No, I've given you the role to gain access. That system was originally bought in because too many people not from OCN would join the server and start causing issues. Bringing in that DM requirement stopped that from happening entirely.

 

The DM requirement system that we have now is going to be removed as it's no longer necessary with the system that ENTERPRISE has implemented with the forum and Discord.

Alright, sweet, thanks guys, I know you have this well in hand. Still, the transition makes me feel uneasy. Hopefully it goes quickly without a hiccup.

I have no strong feelings in either direction, but would ne nice to keep OCN and EHW sections on the new combined discord in my mind.

Like I would love to have each section require the respective roll confirmed to having an account on the respective forum.  I find the OCN and EHW communities are different and have their own little tight-knit groups that would want to keep some level of separation.

 

Also could be a good little kick in the pants to get the Podcast going again, even if it's a once-a-month thing to start @Simmons

E and I have already been discussing this via PMs and I am now in a wait a see mode as far as Discord goes, while all the changes pan out. Whatever the EHW Server ends up being, I'm committed to supporting Level 2 on that instance.

I did accept the updated terms and selected EHW as the Server of choice, if that helps.  I'm leaving for an appt. shortly, but will respond later today, if a response is necessary

Yes. The top one on the list is going to get a new icon to differentiate it and archived (all channels closed for replies, but you'll still be able to view the messages) as there's quite a bit of useful information in there.

The updated OCN Server (which is now the new EHW server) has been boosted to Nitro Level 2:

 

 

I'll cancel the boosts I added to what's now the old EHW server the end of this billing period for my account.
