On prior AMD boards, this could be due to USB population with earlier bios, but I heave not heard anything re. that on AM5

Ye i had that problem too back in the days and it seems its appearing again..

I am on the latest AGESA bios now and loading the previous 6400 fast settings and see again. Still haven't got the newest AGEsa 1.0.8.0

...might as well wait for AGESA 1.1.0.0 now

@neurotix just Google the board for whatever info you are looking for, noting that with DDR5, it is more than just daisy chain versus t-top - it also comes down to board layers and insulation. In any case, I showed up to 8200 on 2 SR sticks, so it has decent capabilities.

I'm not big on hardware YouTubers personally because they go in and out of style. Like back in the day we had Linus, then Steve from Gamer's Nexus got huge, jayztwocents was around too, der8auer was popular for a while and now it's this Buildzoid guy (His voice is obnoxious to me.)

I'll try to listen as its only 20 minutes long but his voice is very annoying.

I used to use YouTube a lot and follow all those guys as well as others related to retro gaming, but in the last 3 years since we moved, YouTube has gotten terrible with two 5 second ads you can skip before each video or straight up unskippable 15 second ads. I generally cast videos to a Roku or Chromecast and that's how I used to use YouTube so I have to deal with the ads, but now it just sucks so much I don't even bother.

Sorry for the rant.

I agree tho,

Linus is probably one of the worst imo. Gamer's nexus one of the best same with hardware unboxed. They seem to be the best to follow nowadays.

Jays2cents is just a weirdo which a lot of people like so he gets the views from there.

Buildzoid is smart but indeed he sounds so annoying and he contradict himself several times in one clip. He does have some kind of autism tho so that would explain it.

That is wishful thinking lol.

For me several things changed included how the BIOS looks:

With the bios also came an issue with core isolation and memory integrity.

I fixed it by turning off virtualization.

Other than that, boot times are shorter, training is shorter too. Performance wise idk yet.

Idk why or what but every now and then i get this weird lockups..

Its the same i mentioned before.. I go back to 6000MHz again tomorrow with 64GB and see how it works.

Many people report the same ands a friend could not get rid of this and had to sell it and go Intel due to these issues. Idk what is causing it but its so weird.

Stresstest no problems but in programs it crashes or locks up for no reason. Its an AMD issue i am sure but no one knows what is causing this erratic behavior. It dates since the beginning of Ryzen tho.. stange they still havent ironed it out completely.

I know some folks have experienced and reported on these select lock-up issues, but so far, none of my four AMD Ryzen CPUs have caused me such issues (TR2950X; 3950X; 5950X; 7950X3D). I wonder if it is some sort of combination of mobo, RAM and other bits. Mobos in use for my Ryzen CPUs are MSI, 2x Asus and Aorus. GSkill TridentZ RAM on all my Ryzens BUT all GSkill kits I use are Intel-XMP editions, not AMD EXPO etc.

It makes no sense and i can only come up with poort coding on the AMD side.

I am with Ryzen since the beginning and all i can say is they never fixed anything as the problems are all there only on a different platform. I pass everything 6400MHz but all of a sudden my system just freezes.

Its not only the hardware tho, software also doesn't seem to like Ryzen systems as lots of 3rd party software slows down the system quite a lot which is not the case on Intel.

I mean, i like my system but i am so tired of these problems that no one knows how to solve but AMD...

The only freezing issues I had were on the 2600X. Turned out the Asus motherboard I had was a dud. However since owning a 3950X, 5950X and the 7950X3D I have not had any issues unless it was related to an unstable OC.

I have had lots of OC attempts that seems stable, even after lots of testing, but ultimately were not and caused inexplicable hanging. Do you get any random freezing at 100% stock ? I think that is the only way you will be able to tell if anything beyond stock config is causing your issues. Sure stock sucks, but you may want to run it for say 30 days and see what your mileage is. No issues, then you are looking at an OC/some other config issue.

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

@Hurricane28

You run CO at -22 right? And no PBO?

I'd suggest trying raising (actually lowering) your CO values to -15 or something and applying the RAM OC you have that is tested stable and see if maybe the CO is the problem. If you get random freezes or reboots it could be due to the processor OC possibly.

Nah, im running -20 atm. This is PBO tho. curve optimizer.

I flashed the new BIOS but for me its the worst ever. When i tried to search in the BIOS it locked up completely and had to turn PC off via PSU button..

I mean, this is enough for me man. I know what the culprit is and that is AMD man. Been like this since the beginning and they still haven't fixed it.

I can run any benchmark you can think of and be stable but out of the blue get lockups for no reason.

This is an AMD issue that persist for a long time now. I put my system up for sale cos there is nothing i can do about it really so tweaking further is useless.

If i can get good price i go intel man, i don't have the time nor patience for this anymore, im sorry.

i had weird lock ups with my AM5 system previously, it was the  Radeon driver for my RX 6800, its a known problem. I dont know if you have an AMD gpu Hurricane? Fixed it back then by getting driver 9.22 i believe.

Yes there is an IGPU in it. I have no drivers installed for it tho as i only use it for my second screen.

Thnx for the update tho.

You are using your iGPU for the second screen? If I am reading that correctly, I would use dedicated GPU only for all screen output and disable the iGPU in the BIOS. I am still a huge skeptic of mixing two different display technologies on a system with respects to it being a flawless experience. That is one factor you may want to remove as it could be another factor to your problems.

You are right tho, i used it just for testing. I disabled it now.

The problem is ram. Few days or weeks its stable and the other day it just freezes on me for no reason. It begins with mouse tracking issues which after a reboot disappear.

The latest BIOS completely locked up for me so i send this info with video to Gigabyte for them to send it to Taiwan.

I already put an add on my AMD system man, if i can get a good price i will sell it and buy Intel. I am done beta testing for AMD, sorry not sorry.
