Excited to install new Lenovo laptop motherboard, tell me all about it?

I'm going to be installing a new motherboard in my lenovo ideapad 110-15acl 80tj with AMD A8-7410 2.5ghz quad on top of AMD Radeon R5 graphics @850mhz & a 1030mhz AMD Radeon R5 M430 2GB DDR3 video ram at 64 bit i believe?

Any word on if i can achieve 1250mhz core and 1250mhz memory on the AMD Radeon R5 M430 & also CrossfireX with the A8s R5 gfx?

Can you tell me all about Dual Graphics, ie combining the two graphics chips into AFR friendly CrossfireX or some such I hear?

Can anyone find any videos of a R5 M430 & this A8 APU both in dual graphics mods CrossfireX mode I guess is what they call it... correct me if im wrong?

I'm eager to upgrade the laptop to 16gb ram dd3L-1600 since its half the price of 1866 at this size single module for a single module system.

Thanks

I have not used or overclocked this specific hardware but you may be able to achieve improved clocks with some trial and error, but any Overclocking would have to be done via software in Windows as its highly unlikely you will be able to make changes in the BIOS for any OC. Unless I missed something, you wont be running any Crossfire using the APU and GPU. I could be wrong, but never seen it done.

If it is possible, I would also not even bother. Crossfire is a dead technology so far as 2023 is concerned and you would likely suffer from the infamous microstutter. The hassle of it likely would outweigh the benefit.

Thanks.  i'll post some videos when i throw it together.  Showing if the crossfire works & how well using "AFR Friendly CrossfireX" and about overclocking the AMD Radeon R5 M430 2GB discrete GPU.  I certainly could use the discrete GPU because performance is sub-par on the integrated R5 graphics.

  • 1 month later...

So I got the 16gb ram and it works fine on the new board mind u the integrated graphics use over 1gb of dedicated vram for 14.9gb available & I cannot figure out how to crossfire the r5 integrated apu graphics with the r5 m430 discrete graphics but any im having an issue with the r5 m430.

It doesn't show up in HWINFO or MSI Afterburner but in the device manager it shows up fine.  I get all zeros in msi afterburner and it doesnt even show up in hwinfo at all.  Why?  Is it a driver problem or issue?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Sometimes the AMD Radeon R5 M430 works and other times, not.  Sometimes games start up using the integrated AMD A8-7410 R5 graphics which can see 6-7fps on some titles and the AMD Radeon R5 M430 is way more powerful at like 35-40fps.  I've tried 22.6.1, 23.4.2, and 19.11.1 drivers all pretty much have issues with the switchable graphics.

By the way I cant quite get much clock out of the R5 M430, just about 1075mhz on the core from 955mhz and 1075mhz on the memory from 900mhz is all i can get out of reliably.  I wish I could crossfire the dual R5s to get more performance but i dont think its possible but i could be wrong.  I tested NimeZ drivers out 23.4.2 and when i enable crossfire through the drivers it says this and in game on fullscreen the colors are all busted and sometimes I get BLUE colors replacing RED & ORANGE like my OSD goes from Orange to Blue which is odd idk how to fix it other than ALT ENTER ALT ENTER twice.

Thanks

Hi I got d3d12afr working but the integrated apu gpu never leaves idle clock so i wish i knew how to fix that, and how do i disable ulps in the registry and what is powerplay support mean?  im using sapphire trixx 6.4.0 now and not msi afterburner to overclock up to 1125mhz core 1125mhz memory from 955mhz core 900mhz memory, pretty good eh?  load temps are 55°C on the cpu and here...

check out this screenshot maybe u can study it...

You can maybe disable the integrated gpu in the device manager. It work for my asus laptop it force the 6800m to run all days and use lot of battery.

And for overclocking amd gpu don't show up in alot of software often. I can't do nothing in afterburner with my 6800m and i think my 6800xt as limited option.

Use the Radeon software maybe?

I tried disabled the integrated r5 graphics and it didn't work.  So I reinstalled NimeZ drivers and it works but I get memory errors and color corruption in games and on the desktop but if i reset the driver or hit alt enter twice it fixes the games yet the desktop colors are still corrupt until i hit the cru restart64.exe to restart the display driver...  Any advice?

That the problem with integrated graphic it often lacking good driver. Intel had big issue with their old atom cpu.

No idea for the corruption issue sadly 🙁

Is there an option in the BIOS to force use of the dedicated graphics only ? Sometimes there is this option and it ultimately disables the base graphics, in this case, Intel.

I have an option that states UMA only or Discrete and i have it set to Discrete.

Right now I'm trying to learn how to extract the GPU bios on r5 m430 from the system bios using Phoenix Tool but am a bit lost...  Does anyone here know how to mod gpu bios on a laptop?

MSI Afterburner no longer supports AMD graphics cards, even if you do the tweaks that used to work. It is totally worthless with my 6900XT. No point in bothering to install it.

I just use it to monitor my fps framerate otherwise its all disabled lol...

I wish I could get mpc to decode my dxtory recorded in game footage but on the kmplayer can decode it for some reason...  any advice on how to transfer the filters or codecs or decoders that can play my dxtory footage which is .avi container on mpc?

By the way doesn't GCN 1.0 support AMD VCE encoding?  I'm looking to make the video smaller but need the speed of hardware acceleration to do so.

Thanks

This below data is from the kmplayer, so what do i do to get the decoder filters or codecs from the kmpayer to mpc be to make it work?

Why are you trying to extract it ? I would be highly careful, if you reflash a modded GPU BIOS for a laptop, if it bricks, it is game over. No second chances. Different with a PC as you can rescue a bricked GPU by putting in another GPU, you do not have that option for a laptop. So just be careful.

Thanks I learned how to use the boot block recovery procedure on this laptop so its easy to recover the bios if something goes wrong.  Mynm on overclock.net is helping me but he says he doesn't know how.  i hope someone can help me increase the core voltage so i can overclock the gpu sky high as im hitting 50-55*C fully overclocked with +20% power limit at 1040mhz core 1040mhz memory from 955mhz core 900mhz memory at 1.100v.
