My take away -> you may want to wait for that 31.5", 4K 16:9, 240Hz LG W-OLED monitor. Best case end of 2024. Realistically, 2025. I'd still prefer 27" but I know I am in the minority.

I'll start off by saying * Dough. Back when they were still Eve, I put a deposit on a Spectrum on May 1st 2020, that still hasn't been delivered. Feb 10th 2022 I paid the full balance, since they insinuated that they were actually being produced and would be delivering soon. They have been nothing but excuses and delays, yet keep coming up with "new models on the horizon". I would just cancel, but that process is a complete nightmare as well.

 

The only models that actually seem to have made it to peoples hands were the original batch of 4K 27" matte. The model I ordered is a 27" 1440p 280hz. 

 

In the meantime, I ended up picking up a Viewsonic Elite G-sync display used locally. Considering how often I actually use the bedroom setup, I honestly don't need to upgrade that monitor.

 

On my main setup, I've also been on the 48" OLED train for the past few years. For productivity it's perfect. I feel like it's a bit big for full screen games sometimes though. 

 

I feel like 42" is a great size for 4K at 100% scaling. What I'm waiting on is a PC monitor with a glossy OLED panel at 42". Until then, I deal with the mild inconvenience of turning the display on/off manually.

 

For the bedroom setup, If someone that isn't Dough/Eve releases a glossy OLED 27" 1440p monitor, that would go on my wishlist as well.

is anything on the market with all of that for anywhere less than $2000?

I'd sell my soul @iamjancofor a 16:9 OLED at something between 4K and 1440p (3200x1800?) though. native 4K is pretty but it just makes me feel poor for trying to run it native at high refresh rates

@iamjanco i need to take a look into this because i know that in lcd/va/ips panel RGB is 3 pixel and RGBW is 4 pixel. So a 4k panel is not as sharp in rgbw than a real rgb one.

 

No idea for those OLED.

My body is ready. I can't stand this Samsung NEO G7.. looking forward to dumping it. Just waiting on the LG (or ASUS rebrand panel). I think it'll be worth it to wait for WOLED.

Is your Neo G7 the 43" or the 32"? I was looking at the 32" Neo G7 as a replacement for my GL850. From what I read, Samsung QC is absolutely horrible but I'm willing to return a few until I get a decent one.

32". Mini-LED is a joke compared to OLED, and Samsung's "HDR2000" garbage marketing is a lie. It's 1000 peak nit brightness.

 

The QC on my monitor is fine. Zero dead pixels, no issues besides things not related to the specific panel. Biggest one for me, is that the monitor goes into deep-sleep in 3 seconds, and then takes 15 seconds to turn back on. There is no way to turn this off. Took me the longest to realize that the monitor takes so long to power on, that if you don't manually wake it prior to rebooting during, lets say, memory overclocking/retraining, then you'll just get a black screen all the way to Windows. If you try and go into the BIOS, you'll get no video and have to reboot/remember to wake the monitor.

 

The last firmware update (that was released only on their Korean website, for some reason) did help with horrendous HDR performance. The blooming was so atrocious I didn't use HDR for the first ~8-12mo of owning the monitor. It's much better now, but how the * they decided to advertise HDR so much, and then released a bloom-fest, is beyond me.

 

It'll be the last Samsung monitor I ever own.

Thanks. Lots of useful information there. Yeah, OLED is cool but I'm not spending $1200 on a display only to get burn-in within a few months. I use my monitor for work too and probably 14h+ each day so OLED is out of the question for me.

Wallpaper engine and hide taskbar.

 

Will never have any burn in issue.

Just have to move icon and app sometime.  The 48" Oled are big enough to move stuff. Idk for a 32"

...yup, doing the same with my 2+ year old 48 inch LG OLED. Basic precautions = no burned-in pixels.
I used to work with a 27 inch and 32 inch Samsung monitor combo and thought that was 'big', then added a 40 inch Philips for a multimonitor setup paired with the 32 inch...now its 40 inch and 48 inch at my main workstation. It's amazing how quickly one gets used to the bigger sizes - if/when it is time for an upgrade, 48 inch will be 'minimum' as I just love the big workspace area, never mind gamer and vid uses. 

 

It is likely that monitor prices will come down, judging by some recent economic data for Asia re. household spending. I have been keeping an eye out for price drops of the new 55 inch LG G3 w/MLA...it has come down a bit, but not nearly enough yet for the 55 inch model I'm considering if / when our 5 year-old media room TV (LG IPS HDR) decides to bid farewell;  for now, though, it is still going strong.
