So our motto is ''Pushing It To The Limit'', so surely we would need to be doing just that! With that in mind we are now apart of the HWBOT family. You can take a look at our Team Page to see our progress. We would love you to join our team and contribute, to find out more on how to do so, please see below.

 

What is HWBOT

How to Join HWBOT & Join Team ExtremeHW

 

Register with HWBOT: Registration

When registering please try and keep your HWBOT username the same as you ExtremeHW username. This is not essential but makes our own internal validation easier.

Next during registration you will see a section called "Join Team" from the drop down select ExtremeHW

 

Alternatively if you already have a HWBOT account and would like to switch to our team go to your profile settings

Scroll down to ''Teams'' and from the "Join Team" dropdown, select ExtremeHW

 

 

How to submit a score

 

There are two methods of submitting a score to HWBOT

 

1. Submit a score for the appropriate benchmark through there Submission Page

2. You can use Benchmate which is a score validation and upload tool which we recommend as you can validate and upload your results directly into HWBOT in one go. The other great thing about Benchmate is it comes bundles with some of the most relevant benchmarks available. It can be your one stop shop.

Also will be doing some Time Spy benches on my sig rig since I finally paid for a 3dmark key >_>

 

My wife's R9 380X Nitro (basically a glorified 7970 but a little faster- 7 year old card and she has a 3440x1440 Ultrawide now) developed a problem recently with the right fan scraping against the metal shroud and only when the card heated up. So we bit the bullet and got her a MSI Ventus 2X RTX 3060. Its running great so far. I plan on benching that too but in her rig which has a i5-7600k. If I hadn't just had a back procedure limiting bending and if both of our cases weren't tempered glass I would obviously put it in my system with a R9 3900x for the physics score. But since my 1080ti ftw3 pair are deeper than usual cards, we actually have to bend the aluminum bracket you put screws in to get the things in and out of the case.

 

Really happy with the RTX 3060, in most games it is about as powerful as my 1080tis- I saw a comparison chart on the two testing them in like 20 games.

Getting HWBoints for the team, I've pretty much run out of benchmarks I can run for my new CPU that give globals and redid 3D benches that give globals. Maybe I'll run the entire 3dmark suite (Cloud Gate and Ice Storm and all that that don't give globals):

I'd like to hang out some time, do you have Discord? I've got some idea's to improve specific scores, which could mean a lot of extra points

Thanks man. Yeah I have Discord but we found out recently that the microphone on my 10 year old Logitech headset doesn't work.

 

Also, regarding the RTX 3060, I borrowed that from my wife's rig (she finally got an upgrade from a R9 380x, basically a glorified 7970, after 7 years). We are unlikely to pull it out and put it back in my system... We actually had a bunch of issues putting my 1080tis back in with DisplayPort not working at all and my board giving us POST codes. Then my wife tried HDMI and found out it worked but my monitor has FreeSync and does 144Hz which you can't do and doesn't work over HDMI. What finally fixed it was flashing the DisplayPort controller with an update that Pascal and Maxwell cards require for DP 1.3 and 1.4 features (which is something we already did when I first got the monitor)

 

On top of that I have severe chronic pain and just had a back surgery, one of the conditions is not bending at the waist so my wife did all the card swapping etc. I can't work on rigs basically. After the fiasco getting the 1080tis to work its very unlikely she'd be willing to mess with my rig again. However, if you have suggestions for benching the 2x or 1x 1080ti or the 5900x, I'm all ears.

 

The other thing is both our rigs are not very bench friendly since we gotta put on rubber gloves to remove the glass side panels etc. Theres other reasons too like needing to bend the aluminum mounting bracket on the end of a card with pliers to get it in and out of my case. It looks pretty and all the cables are on the back side but working on it is a PITA

 

However, thanks for taking notice and the encouragement, currently waiting for stock of 4090s at Microcenter and I'm after the Gigabyte Gaming OC version if we can get our hands on one.

Thanks. There's still points to be gotten and areas to improve in, in particular my 5900x score in Cinebench. I got better results on my 3900x doing a manual per-CCX overclock with the first two CCX at 4.4 and the second two CCX at 4.2 with 1.33v. With the new chip (5900x) I just used PBO and all cores were boosting to 4750MHz. The result in R23 was around 21k. Sir Beregond posted his result elsewhere and did 23k in R23, but he was using curve optimizer and got his chip to all core boost to 4850..

 

Problem is I have no clue where to start with a manual CCX oc on this chip, also it only has two CCX whereas the 3900x had four. I'm thinking 4850MHz on CCX1 and 4400 on CCX2 but have no idea what voltage to try, and cooling it will be an issue with just a 360mm aio.

Edit: anyone have an answer for why the bot isn't updating and showing all the HW Points I got benching the RTX 3060? Pretty much every bench I ran gave me 5-6 hw points and I did like 20. For the season rankings, before I did them I had 492 hw points and now it updated and says I only have 500 when I know for fact I earned at least 80 hw points...

Well, with respect to my 5950X, I can achieve 4.7Ghz on CCX0 and 4.5Ghz on CCX1. 

 

So I reckon what you are looking to achieve on your 5900x is realistic.

What voltage you using for that? That's the variable I'm unsure about.

Im using 1.29v :). I have hit the OC wall on this CPU as I would need far too much voltage to get higher clocks and the temp spikes are too much.

Ok. That'll probably be too low for mine. Yours has more cores available than mine so yeah the heat would require exotic cooling.

Quick answer for this question: the bot only counts 10 competition submissions, 15 global submissions and 30 hardware submissions for the season. You have 956.9 points for this season which seems correct looking at your stats. As for the career points, the bot counts 30 global submissions and 60 hardware submissions, that's why you have 1639 career points. 

Take a look at the points tab on your profile and open every tab there for more info.

Ok, good to know. I basically wasted my time doing all that on the 3060 then. Still, it was fun to bench it.

That is an easy answer, buy more tech. Some of the best fun to be had is with much older gen stuff. It can also yield some of the highest points for benching. If you are REALLY after serious points, you are going to have to start Vmodding.

Thanks, yeah I know buying old hardware for next to nothing then benching it is a good way to get a lot of points.

 

Unfortunately we have far too much in storage right now, and I have a large collection of game systems and games.. my personal storage area is already full and I have stuff I need to sell, some of it is game consoles (like my Xbox, 360, Wii, backup Super Nintendo, backup Sega Saturn, etc.) So I'm not really looking to add a bunch of old motherboards, processors and memory to it all too.

 

I'm getting really sick of waiting on Microcenter to get stock of 4090s, and even then I might not get one, but I'm waiting on that to bench which should get me a good amount of points.

You never waste time benching
I've spent so many hours overclocking, benchmarking and especially looking at other submissions for information.. There is so much to learn from the settings others have used, and then there are people out there who lend you a hand from time to time which is encouraging and saves you a lot of time. 

 

So yes, it counts the top 10/15/30 from the submissions I mentioned above. Once you figure out how it works you can do specific benchmarks because you know how the hardware will perform. So a stock GTX470 delidded with a universal waterblock gave me 46 hardware points in 3dmark 2001SE with a highly overclocked 13900k. I knew it would perform somewhere in that range, and that's the only benchmark I did for now. Once I figure out how the voltage controller works I'll add a few pot meters and (probably blow it up) run some benchmarks that put a higher load on the GPU. A year ago I would have ran every GPU benchmark out there, uploaded it all, figured out I had to run specific CPU overclocks for different benchmarks and 'waste' a lot of time doing that. I really enjoyed that learning curve, but sometimes it was frustrating because I had no idea what I was doing wrong.

This man knows what he's talking about, older hardware is way more fun and rewarding (literally and figuratively). 
If you combine the power of a new CPU with an old GPU it'll (usually) crush most of the older runs, pretty easy for harvesting points

A 4090 will get you a lot of global points, but be careful when you submit them. I would personally wait until next year, use those points to get on top early and fight your way to the number 1 position

Dang. There's no way my 5900X can even sustain 4.6GHz all-core with that low of voltage. But maybe I should try separate CCD OC's like you did. How did you go about doing that?

Its in the Extreme Tweaker menu right underneath where you can do a manual all core oc. Should be labeled something like Manual CCX Overclock. It is a submenu there  Leave your board's voltage on Auto and set the voltage in the Manual CCX Overclock menu.

Man I avoid Extreme Tweaker menu like the plague. I'll see if I can find the equivalent in AMD Overclocking.

There is none. I'm pretty certain of it. Only in the Extreme Tweaker menu. It's a feature specific to certain boards, I know Asus boards have it but unsure about others.
