Games you are good at

What games are you good at? Where do you play for rank?

Me personally, I'm not good at much, but I am stupid good at battlefield games, and OK at rocket league.

In battlefield, I can drop in anytime and as long as I get on a vehicle, I'm liable to do massive damage. K/D around 5-1 is not uncommon for me in the slightest. Maybe a bit of bragging, but I don't play the game as much as I would if it were harder IMO. It's just too easy, it almost feels like a single player game for me. All that aside, I'm only a little above average on the run and gun aspects... but as soon as I get in a vehicle, I'll do a LOT of damage.

Later Desert Combat There:

Spoiler

Rocket league, I started playing in 2016 well before it was free to play. I ranked around diamond 1 back then when playing with good friends. They don't play anymore and I probably would rank around gold 3 or plat 1 now. I still play, but not for rank. It's fun to play against the newer gen because they're typically really good at the mechanics of the game, but really bad at the meta. EX, fake outs. It's really easy to play to their predictions and then undercut them, which can be a lot of fun in and of itself.

Getting old, not as good as I used to be, but hanging in there. Do you guys still play anything competitive? If so, what?

I was talking to a friend the other day about this, If a game has a ranked mode, I play that mode. Why, because, its how the game was made to be played.

people tend to not goof off, enemies "should" be where you somewhat expect. etc...

counter-strike has been my bread and butter since 2006, it's a good game that will (almost always) play the same.

I generally avoid PvP games and when I do play them, I prefer casual. I used to play a lot of BF (BC 1 & 2) and CS:GO. BF I preferred ranked (I don’t recall if those games would separate) but they uniquely were fun because of the team work required to win. The collective energy of squads completing tasks to overcome an objective is super satisfying for me.

Since those days have passed and BF has been more focused on solo gameplay, I’ve diverted to PvE games.

Killing Floor 1 & 2 and absolutely fantastic and probably one of the few shooters I am good at today. Suicidal is my default difficulty; Hell on Earth if I have a really solid team. I predominantly play Medic and as per KF gameplay mechanics, I can kite pretty well. Meaning I can string enemies along the map whilst I slowly recover health, ammo etc.

If I sort by playtime, KF (1) leads with 286hrs. KF2 is my 5th most played game with 138hrs.

Looking at this list reminds me how good Insurgency was… haven’t played that in years!

Big BF guy here too, been playing since BF1942.  Aside from being a C4 Jeep guy (sorry, it's irresistible) I'm more of an infantry player and much like you, 5-1 ratio is hardly abnormal.  Play BF2042 still since I'm a masochist for BF games but it's pretty good now.  Forza games are usually pretty easy for me too, but the problem is when competing online the majority of people use assists (auto braking, line showing where to brake, speed, traction control, etc.) which completely ruin the fun and put me at a major disadvantage.  That said, winning is that much more rewarding.

I am good (or used to be good) at Capcom and SNK 2D fighters. I placed 3rd in Milwaukee in a Street Fighter III 3rd Strike tournament. Some other ones I'm good at are Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and on the SNK side, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Samurai Shodown 5 SP, Fatal Fury.

That's SFIII 3rd Strike which is my main game.

Here's all the fatalities in Samurai Shodown 5:

Zetsumei Shori. Enjoy.

Yeah, I forgot that I'm good at Mario Kart as well. Started with the original on SNES which I got for my 9th birthday I think. The Wii one is really good, and you can emulate it on your pc with Dolphin.

Anyway, just want to share that when I play my ancient old man 2D Fighters, I use this:

It's my arcade stick or some people say fight stick. I did the art for it myself showing my three best characters in SFIII 3rd Strike: Ken, Makoto and Ibuki.

This was made for me. The box is curly maple stained cherry red with 5 coats of clearcoat. The box alone took a month to make.

The components are a Seimitsu LS-32-01 stick with a red bubbletop, and red Sanwa 30mm screw in buttons. The exact same setup the Japanese arcade machines of 3rd Strike use. (Seimitsu stick, Sanwa buttons)

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.
