Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has revealed its technology roadmap for the coming years at the Open Innovation Platform (OIP) 2024 conference in Amsterdam. The company plans to begin mass production of 2nm chips, known as N2 technology, in late 2025. In 2026, TSMC will introduce improved versions called N2P and N2X. By the end of 2026, the company aims to launch its 1.6nm A16 technology, representing a significant advancement in semiconductor manufacturing. These new technologies will utilize Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistors, an important development for enhancing efficiency and performance. The N2 technology will incorporate SHPMIM capacitors to reduce transistor on-resistance.
