Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a series of major changes to the company's moderation policies and practices Tuesday, citing a shifting political and social landscape and a desire to embrace free speech.

Zuckerberg said Meta will end its fact-checking program with trusted partners and replace it with a community-driven system similar to X’s Community Notes.

This happened at the same time they are introducing AI 'fake people'.  Because if they don't like it, they need a way to spam hundreds of accounts saying why stuff is wrong, but this way nobody can get mad at them for censorship or 'disinformation' because it's the 'users' saying it.

Meta is a dumpster fire.   It's to bad I'll never be able to convince my mother and her friends that they should move to a different platform.  It's almost like these social media platforms hold your friends hostage to keep you there.

I think it's pretty interesting that Mark Zuckerberg, recipient of the world's first rat penis transplant, would remove fact checking.

I only use Facebook for the marketplace and everytime I login, the stuff it shows me is all either super weird or AI generated thirst posts. I don't know how anyone takes Facebook seriously anymore. It's such a broken platform.

I believe people call that the dead internet theory?  I think?  This is why I think authenticity is coming back big time.  I'm noticing on other platforms, especially media platforms like youtube, rumble, x, facebook, etc that "authentic" seeming video content is gaining traction faster these days than it has been.

I think you nailed it, with all of the AI generated content, the people on the platforms are probably getting desperate for real people, real content, authenticity. 🙂
