How's it going everyone?

I was just sitting here, chatting with @LabRat and a few of my friends that are here.  I realized something quite important.  I don't have the foggiest idea of who's staff on the site we now run!  ðŸ¤£  That said, its also been a while since all of the staff positions were even made and filled.

So, here's everybody's chance to step up!  Here's what we need.

We need ALL EXISTING STAFF members to please post here and let us know if you want to continue helping out.  Editors, news, content creators, discord moderators, everybody.  If I don't hear from you, I'm going to assume that you're no longer interested in remaining as staff and you will be replaced.

We definitely need:

  • Discord moderators
  • News Editors / posters


Right now, the main focus is just keeping the site functioning.  So as of right now, we do NOT need reviewers or other content creators.  If you'd like to do reviews, please use the Amateur Reviews section.  That IS where we'll be seeking new review talents later on (existing review staff of course will be welcomed back once we pick up again).

The rest of the site functions will be slowly returning as we dive into the backend of the site and getting everything switched over.  But I think getting the community actually all onboard is probably a good first step here.

So please, let us know here in the thread if you'd like to (continue to) be staff and what positions.

Discord moderators are everyone with a dark orange name as well as those with the OCN/EHW moderator role. Right now (from what I can see, some are offline so aren't showing on the list):

 

Alex, axipher, Cerberus, Zinga and I believe Simmons. I know Chunky_Chip also has moderator powers there.

 

For news editors/posters (unless they've retired) is @UltraMega

Right, this is kinda like a roll call.  I can see who's discord moderators easily enough (site stuff, I'm still digging).

I can see who has assigned the roles, but I have no clue who's actually been active and wanting to remain active.

I'm trying to figure out a good way to do a roll call there too.  I understand not everyone on the discord is or was ever a site member here.  Some where OCN moderators if I understand the system correctly.  I did ask in there though too. 🙂  

Just trying to figure out who's all still hanging around and what positions are open and need filled.

There is also a Facebook and X(Twitter) presence for the site also.Other than here,that's where I mostly respond/see posts about the site.

They were a part of the deal, yes.  Due to modern authentication issues, and the vast time zone differences, and busy schedules.....not ALL aspects have been fully transferred as of this post, no.  Request has been submitted to resolve these issues though as of this weekend.  Enterprise has been extremely accommodating in the ownership transfer process.

Baby steps guys, baby steps.  I did say I've never done this before.  🙂  The fact the site hasn't burned to the ground yet is apparently a shock to some people....myself included.  ðŸ¤£  (It's a joke after all the parts I've caught on fire)

Every aspect of the site WILL be returning to full force before May.  Well, at least that's the planned deadline.  We'd LIKE to move the site to a cheaper alternative after May.  But we also have the requirement of retaining ALL site features though too, so that might not be possible.  All things we're researching, learning, and figuring out.


The site is paid for, for at least the next year.  We will reassess when that year anniversary gets nearer.

Everything you've said here goes with the territory but you knew that already.

Figuring out where to put the fire extinguishers and so on is just part of the experience and you'll get the hang of it. It's also good to keep your options open related to features, hosting and other things that can make or break the site, I'm sure you'll run across some viable options and be able to assess what direction things should go based on the criteria that would apply at the time because these are always changing.

As you put it, "Baby Steps" and that's the way to go from here.

Update:

So huge thanks to @ENTERPRISEover these last few weeks.  Thanks to troubleshooting, and tickets being sent galore to everywhere, we believe we might FINALLY have our logins working for the site functions behind the scenes.  This was a google issue, not a handover issue guys. 🙂  

Anyway, figured I'd do a quick site update here for you guys.

The plan from here:

We want to get all site functions back online.  Site donations are priority #1 so we can restore people's premium membership roles.  After that is ticked off the list and functioning, we want to tackle the Etsy store, and perhaps add some more things into that store.  

Also a huge huge shoutout to everybody who signed up to help out as staff on the site and discord.  Seriously you guys all ROCK!!!!!  We will be doing another round of hiring once things are added back to the site and as we grow.  I am TRYING to keep a list of all current staff members on the new staff discord (staff only).  Once I'm confident that list is accurate, I'll post it publicly on site so everybody knows who everybody is and what the roles are.

PLEASE IF YOU ARE STAFF AND NOT IN THAT DISCORD SEND ME A DM.  I'M NEW HERE. 🙂 

This transition has been rough for everybody for sure.  But I'm super hopeful guys and gals, we're receiving a lot more positive feedback than we were anticipating from this venture!  And like I've stated, its management's position that we'll be reinvesting into the community.  So hopefully we'll see some great things in the coming years!  We literally ARE one of a kind here at EHW.  There's literally not another site like it on the internet.  😉

This is one of the key things and opportunity you have here.
I'm not aware of any site that stood out by copying another, TPU for example became what it is today by being "Itself" which is what this needs to be.

It needs it's own form of unique identity that stands out on it's own - While it's true sites that are successful normally follow a certain format you can put your own spin on it and see how it evolves over time. While it's true you can use what others have as a source of ideas or inspiration, you don't need to become a clone of another site, EHW really needs to be it's own thing.
That's when the part about keeping your options open comes into play, the ability to adapt and evolve so it reaches the place it needs to go and thrive.
