I recently replaced my smartwatch battery myself. $15. Of course they want you to just buy a new smartwatch. 😄

...the battery is for an old Nikon Coolpix...it served me well over the many years I had it (does 4K etc), but recently, the 'fully charged' original battery would only allow for two pics before being empty again. Still, it's a nice camera and together with my first GoPro ('21 Christmas present), I can get more active again re. photos and videos etc.

Good to see you back man.

Put in an order for 4 quarts of transmission fluid as it is almost that time again and looking at ordering up some new rotors and pads, plus some supplies for an oil change. All kinda hitting around the same time. Bitter cold right now, so will do the work when it warms up.

Form computer, need to get another SSD and at some point put in an order with PPCs to finally finish this damn thing I started buying parts for last February before getting sidetracked. Almost forgot, fans too, probably just going to try the Arctics since they are cheap, but well regarded here.

FYI, I love the Arctic P12 PSTs, and it is hard to beat the price, especially the 5-packs.

Over the years, I piled up various Noctuas, BeQuiet, Corsairs ML and my fav - 12 of the original  GentelyTyphoon AP29s (3k rpm) as well as some Sunon 5K rpm server fans. The Gentle Typhoons are acceptable noise-wise - for 3k rpm fans that is 🤪 and lets not talk about the Sunons - and I have yet to come across anything which can beat them re. cooling.

HOWEVER, the 1900 rpm Arctic P12 PSTs in push-pull cost a fraction and they're silent compared to the other ones I mentioned. Push-pull Arctic P12s work great even for triple-core high-fpi 64mm rads...

I'll be honest, don't know anything about that fan. Going to be doing some fan research and will let you know. White would definitely work with my theme though. 🙂

Yeah I actually still have a bunch of Gentle Typhoon fans, but they are like 10 years old at this point, and I find they sometimes make an annoying noise at certain RPM's that I like to run at. I am mainly going for a balance of silence with performance. I don't really like hearing computer fans when I am using it. Arctic P12's I've also heard reports of weird noises at certain RPM's, but the price is definitely a big plus if they'll work for my needs. I usually run my fans around 1000 to 1200 RPM.

I also figured, hey they are cheap enough, doesn't hurt to just buy some and see if I like them.

I also figured, hey they are cheap enough, doesn't hurt to just buy some and see if I like them.

There are some YT vids on how to convert the older GentleTyphoons AP 29s 3k rpm to pwm, and I'm keeping my GTs for future consideration with that in mind.

As to reports of weird noises at certain rpms for the Arctic P12 PSTs, all I can tell you that none of the ones I have do that. It is worth noting though that the Arctic value-packs come with very little accessories, including the little rubber vibration mounts. However, I always add black electrical tape around the circumference where the fans meet up with the rads, and may be that helps on the noise side of things as well ?

Default speed for the Arctic P12 PSTs is around 1.2 k rpm, with top speed around 1900 + -, and I haven't heard any weird noises at any speed between 1.2 k rpm and 1.9 k rpm. That's important to me as my builds are work-play systems I spend a combined 10 hrs or so in front of - the only thing I hear at full tilt is a gentle 'air whooshing' noise as push-pull really does move a lot of air 😁

Before I took the plunge with 'ample samples' per pic below, I had bought just a few Arctic P12 PSTs to see how they would perform on the big rads in push-pull, including noise-wise. Only then did I go all in, so to speak.

A final quick note on the Arctic P12s...the fans in the 5-pack come with wiring that has both male and female pwm connectors, whereby the single Arctic P12 pack only comes w/ one. Also, I had one 5-pack (out of 'a lot') where the dual connectors were also missing on some fans...not a big deal if you have pwm splitters laying around, but still, s.th. to keep in mind for your build. BTW, they are now offering those P12 PSTs with RGB rings (for more $s) if you're into that sort of thing...

Very informative post, thank you. Sounds like these may be perfect.

And no, I do not want any argeebee in this at all. I know the RAM kit I got has RGB, but hoping that can be turned off in some setting as the white heat spreader is otherwise perfect for my theme and got the kit at a good price at my local Micro Center.

Yeah since my 2014/2015 build I have been in a "no lights" philosophy with my builds opting to instead just have color themes. Right now my main theme is black/gold with white.

Also, some of these to help tie old and new machines and peripherals together w/o too much of wiring spaghetti

Glad I'm not the only one who finds a use for the hdmi switches. using 2 of them on the bedroom tv so the wife can have her xbox s,Series S ,PS4,computer,PS3,and FireStick in there. tv has 3 hdmi inputs so the Firestick,PS4,and PS3 are on 1, xbox & comp are on another with other xbox on third so she can swith easier with the tv remote. Powering on devices does most of her device switching as needed on the switches. 🙂

Same, I have an HDMI KVM that I love. I have been looking for a DP one, but they are expensive and the selection is very limited. If anyone knows of a good dual monitor DP KVM switch, hook a brotha up.
