This is exactly what a site like this should be. Great job to Enterprise and anyone else involved! I'm sure this site will attract many from the old site over time, as well as new members. Really glad to see the spirit of things is living on here.

I really like the new video section. Do you plan to add that to the frontpage in some form? if so I would suggest putting it under the new/news posts.

Welcome bud,

Glad you like what you see, there is A LOT more to come with regards to user experience enhancements and site capabilities so watch this space haha.

We have the capability to stream to the homepage as well as embed videos with respect to the forum homepage carousel from the video section. Are you meaning so that recently posted videos shows up in the "Latest Posts" section on the main homepage as per extremehw.net ?

The videos section is really cool. I could see that being a great place to discuss digital foundry videos and the likes. This day and age, it's hard to get around the fact that videos are replacing quotable news articles to some extent. I like the layout of the videos section and I think it would make a really good addition to the front page underneath the new/news posts as a supplement to the news in the form of informative videos. There would have to be rules about posting only tech info videos but that seems pretty doable.

A more immediate suggestion would be to allow more text to fit in the thread titles on the front page. As is, the text is cut off a bit too soon.

Wanted to drop by and thank you guys for offering a friendly platform rather than a frustrating one. I look forward to seeing the planned improvements. As long as you don't go towards the OCN disaster things should be okay *haha*.

I will look at creating Video news section so to speak and see if I can get the current API to grab the latest submitted video news to the homepage. Leave it with me lol.

As for thread title length on the homepage, I feel it is not too bad. What we are trying to achieve is best fit for the current popular resolutions. That being said, we could possibly make the Latest News/Posts/Podcasts section a little wider. Not a fan of sacrificing font size in order to get more of the title on so I think width adjustment is the only way.

Pleased to hear this, we will be doing a lot more with this platform soon and in the future, so watch this space. Don't worry, we are taking a different direction to said forum lol.

Okay I'll be honest, I've gotta ask: what's the benefit to having the separate videos section instead of making a thread in the appropriate subforum that's centered on the video? Easier to follow comments/conversation that way, imo.

It is a good question. Ultimately it will completely depend on what a user or an Admin such as myself is trying to achieve. The video section is great for curating a certain type of video in one place, for instance the EHW Podcasts or other EHW related video material whether it be streams or pre-recorded content. Then of course if you are looking to tie and overall conversation to a video, then yes it makes more sense to create a thread centered on that video. It all comes down to use scenario, each have their advantage and disadvantages. I guess it just offers up more choice.

That being said, I can configure it so that if a video is loaded, it auto creates a topic, this could be useful in the future.

Not sure on auto-creating a topic but the rest of that sounds fair, thanks for the reply.
