Reluctantly, that comment regarding the OCN community in the other thread did actually hit home. It's not all about money and selling our replies to advertising networks(for those that haven't disabled all that crap by default). Its about getting help and helping others with pushing our hardware to the limit and only occasionally breaking it. Without OCN I wouldn't have dared to delid my 3770k add LM to it and run it comfortably at 5Ghz ?

I have nothing against progress or evolution. Heck, it is part of life. What bothers me is the implementation of things without taking in consideration the key aspects that people find appealing.

As I said on OCN, there are days I do not have time to browse websites. I would log on that forum and check the main page. I'd have my scoop click on a few articles and go away. The home page was perfect and avoided time wasted on 10 different news sites.

There is not perfect platform and people will always have something to criticize. On my side I am fine with many changes as long as it does not become cumbersome for me extract information.

Enterprise understood this aspect and we can see how this forum is trying to find a middle ground without making it frustrating to navigate.

I will buy a sub in the next days to help out with funds in case some hosting issues may arise. I would urge those who have a few extra pennies to donate a bit to help the staff out.

Also @ENTERPRISE if you need support with certain things, hit me up. I would gladly try to help out.

We try to fit in with the majority of user needs but obviously that will never be 100& successful, that being said we are working on lots of upcoming changes. Having been in the community/forum game for a while, it has afforded me the experience I need to create a new community (hence EHW).

Of course we appreciate any help given by users which can be from simply posting news/new content etc...this is what makes a community among other things such as general fellowship and shared interests.

Financially any donations or premium account purchases does go ALONG way. With this site being ad-free, there is no other income to the site other than my own funds which goes to the hosting, software and custom development. Every little helps as they say :)

Which reminds me, is there a dark theme for this site? That's about the only thing I really like in the platform change, frontpage, rigbuilder, and all other crap that is broken, I can't understand that they did it again, it was exactly the same when they went to Vbulletin.

The dark mode is in the works and will come with the overall UI update to this site. We could have put in an ad-hoc version but ultimately would not have improved the user experience as it will have had bugs etc. The one we are developing is being developed as a custom fit, take a little longer, but much more worth it.

Our Rig Creator (which we had on the first iteration of EHW) will of course also be returning which enables rig creation and allows users to show them off in the signature area as standard.

We are also working on the Embed Wizard which will allow users to embed a wide variety of content into the forums without the need for cumbersome BBCODE or other tag elements. Will just be a simple copy and past link and GO.

Lots more on the horizon as well.

I honestly wouldn't mind a banner ad or two, those aren't so bad. The kind of stuff vertical scope is doing with ads is super annoying, trying to make ads look like forum posts and putting them in the middle of threads and stuff like that. As long as the ads stay simple and not become so intrusive, it's not a big deal to me.

I'm gonna sign up for a premium account later when I'm near my computer. Def want to help support all this effort!

Hi all. Thanks to @UltraMegafor the link to here.

It's funny, I've been part of the old site for nearly a decade, but I didn't participate regularly because I either wasn't following industry news or upgrading my machine. Now that I'm beginning to focus on these things again, I was spending more time on the old site posting in that damn "We Are Live" thread than actually following the hardware.

You know it's bad when you can't even go on a forum to find the content you want, and instead spend more time exasperated at how the new direction of the forum violates every principle you've learned and absorbed professionally.

I'm glad to see a lot of familiar usernames here, even if we haven't had direct exchanges before. I was never super active on the old site, but the familiarity helps set my expectations of this community and the level of discussion I hope to see continue here.
