Folding@home broke on me

Cerberus

Recommended Posts

been trying to figure this out for a few days, computer restarted. I double clicked the icon on the desktop (like normal) to open F@H, nothing happens. Navigate to the folding install folder, I can get the program running (command line only) but when I tried to fold while at work today, no points were being submitted, even though I was completing WUs. i've reinstalled F@H 7.6.2 three times now, im about to just reformat and reinstall windows...lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

side note: when trying to submit this thread, I have to have a tag (it only gives two options)

  • Thanks 1

I had this happen a few weeks back on Windows 10, had to completely remove FAH including APPDATA folder, reboot and reinstall, was a little annoying

No, I had to actually go in to my Appdata and delete the entire FAHClient folder after uninstalling.

I think mine happened after a GPU graphics reinstall but I can't remember.

Windows 10 reinstalls pretty fast as long as you download all the drivers and don't give it an internet connection during setup until you install all your device drivers including chipset.

Then Ninite makes it easy to install most of the standard apps again.

This sounds similar to an issue I had a couple months ago with F@H and I was planning on an upcoming W10 reinstall anyways. Only other issue I remember having was F@H was causing my PC to randomly restart, so running it while I was at work was a bit useless. Just didn't fold on that PC for a week or two and redid the OS since I tried similar stuff to you with no success.

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

I've had a random issue with F@H the past few days. After booting a system the client starts in the background, but instead of opening the already running application it somehow tries to start the advanced control again. It shows "connecting" and does not continue. If I don't double click the F@H app but instead navigate to the hidden icons I see the "sleeping" F@H icon, right click and "open advanced control" and it works like it should.
