Thanks bud, you did great too! You know I was just kidding, just trying to push you all to do more than you were planning to. No matter if it was 1 billion, or 5 million, as long as we improved our output to move up the rankings as a team, we achieved our goal. Thanks everyone who participated7 points

I just added two more 7900 XTX's, a 1080Ti....idk, i forgot what all I've added now lol. I think I've got 10 cards folding now, mostly AMD. Putting out around 60m PPD roughly right now though!6 points

due to an arctic outbreak, I'm adding my 6900xt into the fold. Not the best PPD, but a nice little space heater for my bedroom.6 points

I noticed today that hertz9753 is about to pass my wife, Patsy. In case you do not know, Mike Hertz was a man that some of us had the priveledge of his kindness making an impact on our lives. It made me think about how the folding community will always be about folding@home and that a lot of us, and our families, were brought into this movement with us. I've been absent due to my hobbies taking a back seat to my direct family is the way to summarize it best. Many of us have moved on. But, to those who read this, no matter who you are, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have ever done for this community no matter what forum your ties are with. Shameless plug for Philistine fudge to see if anyone still talks to him because my wife misses her Peppermint Patsy Fudge. Clearly what @Bastiaan_NLdid for this event was beyond crazy, and you know what, we love this man for it! Don't be bashful, sir, that was NOT cheap! Incredible!!!5 points

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/discord-is-rolling-out-facial-scanning-and-id-checks-in-march-for-everyone-who-doesnt-want-to-be-locked-into-a-teen-appropriate-experience/ I don't even really know what to say here. Rumors all over the internet put this as not a good announcement. Personally, I have pulled ALL of my payments to Discord, including my Nitro and all server boosts I had put out for 2 different communities. This is a me decision because I feel like this is the start to something really bad from Discord. There's talks of alternatives popping up all over social media, but I guess we'll see where this heads from here. Rumor has it, all apps and sites are going to be required to do this in the future. I don't know about you guys, but I personally support the user's right to their personal data. I don't think facial scans, or ID requirements are the correct answer to the current ongoing issues.4 points

@pio Since the other ones are in hours, I'd just keep it consistent and go with 168 hour. Good job everybody! I had a great time as always. Special thanks to @Bastiaan_NL for going above and beyond. I was on the fence about trying to go for a billion during the week or being content with what I was doing. You reminding me that I wasn't being EXXXtreme!!!11!! enough was a big help.4 points

Sounds a lot like what I'm dealing with, lol. Michele and I got sick last month with the flu or something nasty, and it lasted about a week. On top of that Michele had major neck surgery. Then last week I got sick again with something nasty but different because this one had a sore throat and hacking cough that wouldn't let me sleep. That lasted about 5 or so days then went away just in time for my back to seize up (I blame these weather spikes). Finally getting over that, and now I have contractors working on some projects in the yard. The problem is these contractors turned out to be incompetent imbeciles. And now Michele is sick with the hacking cough thing I had last week. I just want to get some sleep.3 points

This WILL backfire. We'll just see the drop of streaming devices, and we'll see the return of HTPC's again. Nerds will figure out a way, we always have. How DARE those companies tell me what I can or cannot watch on a device that I paid for, on MY tv in MY home, on MY internet connection. If I'm liable for piracy, then so are they. Either that, or piracy is now legal. They can't have it both ways IMO. Make up your minds! We should probably add a link to the news story though, no? Tom's Hardware has the story: Nvidia accused of trying to cut a deal with Anna’s Archive for high‑speed access to the massive pirated book haul — allegedly chased stolen data to fuel its LLMs | Tom's Hardware WWW.TOMSHARDWARE.COM Court documents appear to show Nvidia management green lit the deal, despite Anna’s Archive’s warnings.3 points

I answered phones for Comcast (Xfinity) for a couple years, so here's an industry secret that they probably don't want everyone to know. (I never signed an NDA.) If you are calling to reduce your bill, do not talk to billing. Their job is to explain the price of the bill you have. If you want to reduce the price, they will drop you to a lower tier and tell you everything that you'll lose as a result, in an effort to resell the higher tier. They might also offer a 'deal' if you are adding additional service, which will equate to more services for the same amount of money you are calling to complain about. The department you want to talk to is cancellation. If you are about to cancel your service, why certainly, they are happy to give you that same deal that was rolling off in an effort to keep you as a customer. Sometimes when I talk to cancellation, I get a customer service agent who is bad at their job. Their job is to keep me as a customer, but if they don't like the tone of my voice, are relatively new, or don't feel like hassling they will just cancel the service. For example I've had them try to sell me cellphone service, when I said no they were ready to cancel service rather than save me as a customer. If they do that, I set the cancellation date out a few days, then call in and cancel the appointment. The appointment cancellation is all done through the automated system now, it doesn't require talking to anyone. Back when I used to talk to people, I'd just tell them I couldn't get the new provider out until next week. After the appointment is cancelled, I'll call in to cancel service again, claiming I just needed to reschedule it. That agent will usually try harder to save me as a customer. I've also had comcast call me while I had the disconnect appointment open, so it can be advantageous to set the date out 4-5 days and wait a day or two before calling to cancel the appointment. Just make sure to mark the cancellation date in your phone as a reminder to call in again. Because for a techie, losing internet is worse than death!3 points

EVENT START EVENT STOP How to participate: During the competition you must be folding for Team 239902 Stats: You can view the stats for the foldathon here: https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com/35 Mind the EVENT START TIMER as it is UTC time zone. Prizes: TBD Folding is stressful on hardware, and will often break an overclock unless it's been tested with folding. I do not recommend overclocking high end GPUs as the power draw can be extreme while folding. If anything, try tuning for energy efficiency. Casualties happen and EXTREMEHW can not be held accountable if you destroy your hardware while folding. Link to V8.5 Client Thank you for your participation!2 points

Also - please excuse my absentmindedness lately (IE: Me getting the postbit thing wrong). We've got illness going through the house right now, I've got a family emergency going on with elderly family members, and on top of all that...........I'm trying to rennovate a house I bought for cheap, and move.......PLUS we're going to be moving the website. My mind is VERY scattered right now.2 points

I feel really stupid now. This wasn't the foldathon we usually hand out postbits for. This one would need a full on redesign since its not OUR 96 hour annual challenge. Sigh. If you guys want a postbit for this one, let me know. Otherwise, I'll work on the 96 hour one. Sorry for the confusion!2 points

Thing is,when I started using Amazon devices it was for ebooks. They were less expensive and better for the environment because of the whole saving trees thing. Now,20 years later and ebooks are the same price and sometimes more than a paperback, while having less ownership on the Kindle platform. Anything to tighten down on their profits.2 points

Fired up an RTX 5050. Seems to be doing about 3m PPD roughly? I'd fire up my AMD farm, but most of it is currently not in systems, and I have power constraints at the apartment. 5050 seems to be doing a good job at least keeping me on the board.2 points

I use LACT to lower power consumption on most of my Linux machines. GitHub - ilya-zlobintsev/LACT: Linux GPU Configuration And Monitoring Tool GITHUB.COM Linux GPU Configuration And Monitoring Tool. Contribute to ilya-zlobintsev/LACT development by creating an account on GitHub. Wish there was a Linux version of Afterburner since I like setting an undervolt curve vs just capping power limit. Pretty much all RTX 40 and 50 series are really efficient for folding and respond well to undervolt or power limiting.2 points

This time of year I tend to fold occasionally just for the heat. If by chance that should happen during this event, there is no need to include me in any part of prizes. On another note, I do miss the advanced control interface. This browser based control annoys me and seems somewhat limited compared to the old advanced console.2 points

I am so stupid. THIS is the event we use postbits for. Sigh. I'll distribute the post bits after THIS foldathon lol. Idk why, but I thought the week long one was this one. I will NOT be "in" on this one. Too much going on right now in personal life (illness, family emergencies, and a move going on). If it was after the move, I'd totally be in though. I will however, get those postbits done up and handed out for this foldathon!1 point

My old Kindle uses .mobi extensions. I think the newer one can use pdfs. Calibre is an open source tool that can convert book formats. I'll gladly take open source book options over a closed source ecosystem. I'm still upset that updating them will remove the ability to load books through usb.1 point

Got a new card. 5070Ti. Started folding to break it in. On Win 10 591 drivers ppd started at 13m slowly worked up to a high of 19m but only on 1 wu. Normal daily averaged 16.5. It was doing a little better than what it showed on Lar"s site. I decided to try it on Ubuntu 24.04 same stock settings. Ubuntu started at 14m up to a high of 20m. That 20 came after a long run of 18m wus. Ubuntu is using the 580 drivers. What have you guys noticed? Anyway happy with the 5070Ti.1 point
