Thanks bud, you did great too! You know I was just kidding, just trying to push you all to do more than you were planning to. No matter if it was 1 billion, or 5 million, as long as we improved our output to move up the rankings as a team, we achieved our goal. Thanks everyone who participated7 points

Good evening everyone (or morning / day / whenever you see this)! Unfortunately our community has been hit with a giant spam attack today. We are not the only Invision community to have been hit by this type of attack in recent months apparently and it is still an ongoing attack on Invision communities. We are working on rolling the site back to this morning, so the spam can be removed. We're implementing the appropriate fixes right now on the back end. Hopefully, with any luck, this should be resolved moving forward. Please accept our apologies. The moderation team now has DIRECT contact information to both myself and the site owner in case this happens again in the future. Changes made so far: "Announcements" page on discord has been removed from general users temporarily to avoid spamming everyone's phones Spam protection on site has been changed to different levels than previous Currently registered spammers have been removed and banned Site has been rolled back to working status Normally for the end users of course, this information would typically be hidden. Well you guys know me, and I am just an end user. So in the effort of full transparency, there's where we're at. Thank you, ~Management7 points

I just added two more 7900 XTX's, a 1080Ti....idk, i forgot what all I've added now lol. I think I've got 10 cards folding now, mostly AMD. Putting out around 60m PPD roughly right now though!6 points

^ It's a shame Asus seems to keep churning out overpriced products that don't live up to expectations. Wish we still had EVGA in the enthusiast motherboard space. As for my most recent purchases.... Just snagged a Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 Mobo with an i7-4930K CPU + 32GB RAM for an upcoming HWBot comp Grabbed an open box RTX 5060 Ti 16GB from Microcenter for Folding@home. The PCB is hilariously tiny. I'm going to watercool it for fun and will post some pics when I do. Also picked up an Optane 905P to replace the tired boot drive in my sim rig. I have some EXTREMELY special updates for that rig in the works.6 points

The 50 series for me brings the following to mind. 1. Refresh generation offering little in actual performance gains. Forget MFG, DLSS etc. 2. Hideous design flaws, one would go as far as negligence. The 12VHPWR is an absolute joke in general but Nvidia decided to double down and make it even worse with their power delivery design. Most AIB's are taking the lazy way out and STILL not addressing the design issues, even though they have the power to do so. I understand there are small margins for GPU's but I would like to see more AIB's take responsibility for their consumers sake. This point alone would make me hesitant to put a 50 series card in my PC. 3. Buggy drivers. Unsure what is going on with Nvidia at the moment, but producing drivers that affect not only the 50 series but 40 and 30 series is embarrassing, especially with continuous releases still showing problems. 4. Hotspot reading removal. In my opinion Nvidia did this to hide something they are not keen on sharing. Tells you all you need to know. 5. Pricing. While I understand they have little competitions, Nvidia still didn't have to punish gamers with astronomical pricing. Nvidia doesn't care anymore about the crowd that made them. 6. Disingenuous marketing. Sure, we expect companies to make products look attractive. The 50 series however has a marketing campaign designed to cover for 50 series being fairly underwhelming as a product with bullshit claims such as the 5070 = 4090 and similar. You can't polish a turd. I really enjoy Nvidia products but they really have fallen from grace this round, its been a growing issue for ages but the 50 series just takes the piss. Nvidia have cut corners at virtually every avenue and then tried to sell it as the single wonder of the universe. Fortunately most have seen through it. While im still very happy with my 3090, If I were upgrading today It would likely be a 9070XT or AMD successor to that if they continue their improved trajectory. I just can't justify the insanity anymore. Im willing to bet Nvidia will double down again on the 60 series in some form. Nvidia knows right from wrong regarding design etc, but ultimately they don't care IMHO.6 points

I don't get why everyone thinks they are going to be a photo or video editor these days and thinks they need a crazy workstation to do so. When you learn to drive, most people don't go out and buy an F350 dually as a first vehicle just in case they might need to tow something someday. Get a 7800X3D or 9800X3D. If your PC doesn't make you money, there is no reason to bother with anything else. For gaming either of those CPUs will be amazing. For photo/video editing they will also be plenty fast. Especially for someone that's just dabbling in it. Get the cheaper motherboard. You won't notice a difference in performance and the money would be better spent elsewhere. If that "maybe" turns into a reality and they start editing regularly and it becomes a priority that would benefit from a CPU upgrade, the X3D chips will always be in high demand. So you could easily sell it and grab a Zen 6 chip when those come out.6 points

Lol it was fun staying up till 3am to see the midweek madness price drops on B-stock. Very sad to see EVGA out of the game. I always had the least amount of issues with their products and the very few instances I needed to deal with customer support, it was the best of any of the manufactures I've dealt with. Obviously, we'll welcome anybody from the EVGA forums with open arms. Things are a little slow over here currently, but we're trying to keep the forum experience alive.6 points

I noticed today that hertz9753 is about to pass my wife, Patsy. In case you do not know, Mike Hertz was a man that some of us had the priveledge of his kindness making an impact on our lives. It made me think about how the folding community will always be about folding@home and that a lot of us, and our families, were brought into this movement with us. I've been absent due to my hobbies taking a back seat to my direct family is the way to summarize it best. Many of us have moved on. But, to those who read this, no matter who you are, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have ever done for this community no matter what forum your ties are with. Shameless plug for Philistine fudge to see if anyone still talks to him because my wife misses her Peppermint Patsy Fudge. Clearly what @Bastiaan_NLdid for this event was beyond crazy, and you know what, we love this man for it! Don't be bashful, sir, that was NOT cheap! Incredible!!!5 points

This time of year I tend to fold occasionally just for the heat. If by chance that should happen during this event, there is no need to include me in any part of prizes. On another note, I do miss the advanced control interface. This browser based control annoys me and seems somewhat limited compared to the old advanced console.5 points

So I guess I never did a build log for this... Around 2020 I gave my sister a build I did for fun just so she had a desktop computer... It was an i7 6700 with an OG GTX Titan when I built it, but I swapped the watercooled Titan for a 980 Ti since I knew she wouldn't maintain a custom loop. No pics of what I sent her off with, but here's what it looked like with the Titan. It was in a windowless black Fractal Define Nano S. A solid little system at the time, but it was never cute enough for her even after covering it with stickers. A while ago Cooler Master wanted us to review an SFX PSU. I said I'd do it if they sent along a Pink NR200 to review along with it... They had just discontinued the pink and so I was sent a white version instead. For anybody interested Here's the review of the PSU/Case. After the review, I built her a bit of an upgrade. i5 12500 GTX 1070 32GB Trident Z Royal Crucial P3 Plus 2TB Thermalright SI-100 CM NR200P wrapped with sparkle blue vinyl That has served her well the last couple years. She still doesn't game much but was interested in trying Hogwarts Legacy. Figured that might be a little too much for the ole 1070. As well as Nvidia starting to phase out support for Pascal. Figured it was time for a bit of an upgrade. I just happened to be in Tampa for work last week, so I stopped by her new place and swapped in an RTX 3060 Ti.5 points

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/discord-is-rolling-out-facial-scanning-and-id-checks-in-march-for-everyone-who-doesnt-want-to-be-locked-into-a-teen-appropriate-experience/ I don't even really know what to say here. Rumors all over the internet put this as not a good announcement. Personally, I have pulled ALL of my payments to Discord, including my Nitro and all server boosts I had put out for 2 different communities. This is a me decision because I feel like this is the start to something really bad from Discord. There's talks of alternatives popping up all over social media, but I guess we'll see where this heads from here. Rumor has it, all apps and sites are going to be required to do this in the future. I don't know about you guys, but I personally support the user's right to their personal data. I don't think facial scans, or ID requirements are the correct answer to the current ongoing issues.4 points

I've been replacing a lot of my older cards because I get tired of the office being an oven. It still is, but not as bad lol. Newer Nvidia cards are really the only way to go. AMD just isn't very competitive for F@H. I replaced my 6950XT with a 5070Ti and it's been great. Little over quadruple the PPD while sipping less power. Really anything RTX 40 or 50 series is great for folding. All the 8GB cards are pretty equally hated by gamers so they can be found relatively cheap when people upgrade their prebuilt rigs. So, 4060 or 5060 and the TI versions of those cards. They also undervolt pretty well to further drop the power consumption without losing hardly any PPD. 4070 and 5070 are in a weird spot. They typically go for more than I'd like to spend on a secondary card that's mostly for folding. Being a 12GB card, they are not something I'd put in any of my main rigs. IF you find one for a great deal, they are solid cards. 4070 Ti is in the same boat as the above. The 4070 Ti Super and 5070 Ti are 16GB cards and good candidates for a main GPU and also really strong for F@H. 4080 and 5080 are again in a bit of a weird spot where the jump in cost outpaces the jump in performance from the previous tier. 4090 and 5090 are god tier for PPD, but are way overpriced. Thanks AI...4 points

You shouldn't have to employ workarounds to deliberately hostile anti-consumer acts by auto manufacturers who have engineered solutions to previously nonexistent problems. Parking brakes have worked for generations before this garbage. Anyone could have seen this coming after BMW tried to charge subscription fees for heated seats. The contemporary automotive industry is built on greed and attempted entrapment of consumers into the manufacturer's product and service ecosystem, as well as financial debt if you're crazy enough to take out a loan (I could just stop the sentence there, but in this case, a loan offered by the dealer). I realize I'm not contributing much with respect to the poll because I won't buy a car that phones home or has unnecessary bullshit systems to complicate functions that had been working fine previously for decades.4 points

So I was in Microcenter the other day returning a mouse I didn't like... Somehow ended up buying a monitor I didn't know I needed lol. I definitely wouldn't have dropped a grand on a monitor this size, but they had one open box for $500 which is still a tad cheaper than a basic 240Hz OLED. Zero hours on it so whoever bought it must have just had buyers remorse and took it right back. The main monitor on my bedroom rig had been an older Viewsonic Elite with an actual G-Sync module. So I had been thinking I should do something different with that rig. Going back to an Nvidia card that is better than the 6950XT (without regressing on VRAM) would have been considerably more than I spent on the monitor. It was also tax free weekend in Ohio for under $500 which was the cherry on top.4 points

This is exactly correct. The best memory overclocking motherboards have only two RAM slots. The rarity of them is sad and has an undesirable effect on the pricing of the almost non-existent options. Most of the options available are crappy 4-DIMM boards at all price points.4 points

For the record, I went ahead and purchased the X870E Apex. I was disappointed for the reason I was worried I would be and the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. It gives me less than the AORUS Master at twice the cost. Returned it to NewEgg for a refund. It's not what I would consider to be an $800 motherboard in terms of functionality or performance.4 points

So finally i have a conclusion: 1, in the past i bought it here Just a moment... WWW.CJS-CDKEYS.COM It worked was no problem. I got 4 codes for 3 months and worked flawlessly 2, I bought 3 months on Get up to 90% off best selling video games | CDKeys.com WWW.CDKEYS.COM Don’t overpay! Enjoy the latest games at the cheapest price now. Get instant delivery of CD Keys for Steam, Origin, Uplay, Battle.net, GOG, PSN and XBOX. And i run into trouble, bcs of region mismatch. Microsoft support told me that it is not a official reseller and i should in future buy the codes from local sites to dont run into this kind of problems. result i contacted CDkeys for refund or new code... Still waiting for a response. But i bought an EU and UK code and it doesnt work for a country within EU - Microsoft answer was - you need to buy it from the country you are using it.... 3, i bought another code from a local seller which is an official reseller. Gues what? Yes i run into the same problem So i contacted the supoort once again and explained the whole situation. this time the guy took it to his supervisor, i shared the codes and BAM they activated 6 month for me. When i was asking what happend he explained me its an internall mismatch and error and sometimes the codes work sometimes not. So happy buying and redeeming If it doesnt work then just open a chat with them and they should be able to do it. Hope it will help you guys in any way...4 points

Here's my newest CaseLabs case that I just added to my collection. I saw this on eBay it was a local pick up only and just 37 miles away from my house. What I liked the most about this case is that it is all white and has an 85mm extended top. It was listed with a "buy it now" for $100 so I snatched it immediately. This is the MH10 model with reverse ATX. There is not one scratch or ding anywhere on the case or panels. The only modification is a pass through on the roof for a fill port which I probably won't ever use. All the other holes that where drilled were in removal panels which the case came with extras ones. It also came with the following components: Alphcool 480 x 80mm Monsta radiator in black Hardware Labs 480 x 60mm SR2 multiport radiator in white 11 Corsair Mag Lev white LED fans 5 Noctua NF-F12 fans 260mm acrylic reservoir Aquaero 6 XT Aquastream Ulitmate pump Flow sensor Farbwerk USB Splitty 9 USB splitter LED strips An assortment of Bitspower Black sparkle and Monsoon fittings4 points

I'm no stranger to "winning" the opportunity to overpay for a GPU paired with a PSU I didn't want/need lol As for Navi, I have a reference 6950XT with a Bitspower block. It lives an easy life in my bedroom PC that I don't use all that often. It's undervolted and it also connects to an external MO-RA3 radiator so it runs cool and pretty much silent. 7800X3D isn't adding much heat load so fans are typically only spinning 400rpm to maintain a 2-3 degree water to air delta. Prior to that, I used it in a Silverstone 4u case review and it was the only modern GPU I had that would fit with the top panel on... Thanks Nvidia for the fragile 12VHPWR connector.3 points

Wow, terrible pricing. I thought the 9070 XT at $600 was ok. $700-$800+ seems a what for considering these are technically replacing the $499 and $549 7800 XT and 7900 GRE respectively. I think I'll wait around and see if sanity ever returns to this market.3 points

It appears that the RX 9070 XT is sold out at the two Micro Centers closest to me, with limited stock remaining of the RX 9070. They supposedly had hundreds in stock on launch, but I didn't bother to check yesterday since I wasn't planning on getting one. The 3080 Ti lives on due to me making no time to play games in the last two years. Even when I do get back into it, I've got a backlog of older games to go through that pose no challenge to the 3080 Ti at 4K. It's a lot less stressful not being on the cutting edge because it really sucks out there right now if you are.3 points

To bypass ads on Kindle, connect to a PC, then delete the add folder. Make a new text file and change it's name to be that of the folder (make sure to remove the .txt file extension). Kindle will replace the folder if they think it has been deleted. The text file does not work like a folder does, but because it has the same name they don't replace it with a working folder. I did that after I started seeing advertisements for diaper. I changed my nephew and niece's diaper a few times and I didn't enjoy the reminder of it.3 points
