That's not the problem, the problem is needing internet for viewing the result.
I don't want internet on my benchmark OS- 1

Am I just getting old and not remembering, or did Geekbench suddenly become idiotically expensive with version 6? I don't remember what I paid for GB5 (will have to scan my email archive to find it) but $99 for a benchmark seems ludicrous.
I paid $18,14 for GB5. I bought it in April 2022, 3 years after release and I have no clue what it was when it was released (minus the 50% release sale discount).
$99 is just insane and too much for just a few seconds benchmark.- 3

I don't feel like running this on the bench OS though, as long as I need to pay 99$ for an offline version..

...I seem to recall s.th. about "slippery slope" ...
Congrats, and have fun with that thing (I know you will). Model specs, ie. Watt cooling, lowest temp ?. Also just keep in mind that their transient response can be a bit slow, depending on what is being benched (ie. 4 core vs 16 core). In some such cases, it helps to just 'pre-stress' the PC before the bench you want to run.
I know I know, but it was inevitable...
I'll get you the full specs sheet as soon as I have every last detail, but it is -100°C capable.

Adding to what @J7SC_Orionstated, didn't you have to lube that tube with (e.g.) vaseline? Or was it just the motherboard? To protect from the frozen condensation (ice) that could build up?
Thanks Jan
There is insulation around the base, and the board needs a good layer of protection. Depending on the level of #aintcare you can use different kind of products.

Fingers crossed Fox, I sure hope you'll have more luck with the ASUS.
And congrats with the new card, I'm jealous they are that 'cheap' over there. Over here I would pay about €2350 for one, that's $2480 -

Absolutely not. ASUS is my last choice most of the time. Their QC is probably the worst and their warranty/support is totally unacceptable. I never say never most of the time, but I am inclined to because my experience with their enthusiast products has always ended badly. Oddly enough, their mid-range and low-budget product line has always been reliable for me. The Strix is also grossly overpriced and inferior to the Suprim X. RTX 4090 VRM meta-analysis and FE/AIB comparison so even if it were priced correctly the Suprim X would be the preferred option. If I were going to waste $2400 on a GPU it would be the Galax HOF 4090, even though it is pretty ugly to look at.
I know, right? No way I am paying more than the $1799 for the "sold and shipped by Amazon" option. I will only purchase "sold and shipped by" product from Amazon and NewEgg when they are major (expensive) components like CPUs, GPUs and motherboards. Their marketplace sellers are often shady and not very customer-centric.
Nope, none whatsoever. I've been benching using cold air and cold water for roughly 15 years and monitor temperatures and dewpoint very closely. I have 2 digital thermometers with humidity readers near my case and one inside of the case, and a flow/temperature meter on the loop.
Living in a desert since 2015 (Southern Arizona) it is even less of an issue. ESD is the much bigger problem here due to the lack of humidity. ESD here is actually insane. I have had LEDs blown out on keyboards and mice due to ESD.
In this case I did not remove the radiator from the loop, so it was impossible for the water to get cold enough for condensation, and the GPU was using the AIO with only cold air (not cold water).
My impression is that one of the fuses on the PCB is blown. I probably could have repaired it, but that would have been silly since it was still within the Amazon return window. Had it been outside of that window, I probably would have fixed it myself rather than sending it to MSI. The GPU is not detected in any PCIe slot. I tested it on both desktops. Booting into Windows using the 3090 KPE or 3060 Ti GPU the 3090 is not even present in Device Manager. It is as if it does not exist.
I guess I had more luck with Asus, but I just said that with my fingers crossed
Also, a quick run with a single 1080Ti on the Apex Z790.
For some reason the Physics test dropped 2k after the first 2 runs, but I didn't have time to do it all over again.Bastiaan_NL`s 3DMark - Fire Strike score: 31644 marks with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Well the 4090 Suprim stopped working yesterday. It's going back to Amazon for a refund. They don't have any stock available for exchange. I was working yesterday (using my work PC) and had it running with Outlook open so I could check my personal email throughout the day (my normal routine). I looked over and the screen was black as if I had the power profile set wrong to let the screen go dark. I normally disable that. I jiggled the mouse and tapped some keys on the keyboard and nothing. So, powered it back on and the motherboard starts beeping with D6 Q-code (no display device detected). With the 3060 Ti installed in the primary slot and the 4090 in the second PCIe 16x slot, no 4090 detected. I stuck it into my work computer and same thing.
Well, that's messed up...
Time for a Strix?- 1

Yeah, when you are able to beat a lot of LN2 results just with a few tweaks here and there..
I'm not complaining though, worth a lot of points and I bet many of those guys don't have the hardware anymore- 2

So I did some testing.
[Edit] I was having some problems with getting the overclock to work properly, so don't look too closely at the Physics score. Limited on time, so will probably figure that out later.
5 P-cores with HT and 3 without plus 16 E-cores = 29 threads:
8 P-cores with HT plus 16 E-cores = 29 threads:
8 P-cores with HT plus 16 E-cores + no E-cores in GT1 and a little bump in GPU clocks (third place in hardware class):

not what I meant, I meant are you able to disable HT on a single core like on 10th/11th. if I wanted a HT on 9 cores and not on my 10th I could run 19 threads on my 10900K.
E-Cores have IPC on par closer to a 7700K than an Atom (der8auer did a test on a 12900K a while back) so I'd assume a gigachad E-Core > HT thread on a P-Core.
edit: aka, disable HT on 3 of the P-Cores and keep 16 E-Cores, maybe better than 8x2 + 13?
That's an interesting idea, but I'm afraid it hurts the Physics test more than it'll benefit the Combined test.
I'm pretty sure there is a thing called HT per core but I need to check the bios for that.- 2

I don't keep really old hardware around because I simply don't have the storage space for it. So what you guys are sharing brings back a number of memories for me.
While I didn't own what follows, the guy pretending to do testing on the components in front of him reminds me of me the first half of the 90s (92-95):
and I worked on multi-processor electronic warfare threat simulator systems like this (systems integrator/field service engineer/alternate facility security officer (hence, no actual pix)):
Oh, I thought it was you pretending to work on that hardware

That custom case is in particular is neat - nice workmanship !
Also, OCZ gold RAM above that for serious oc-ing - I also still have a few sticks of that - used them in the (by now very dirty) Abit IC7
Prepping an oc+rendering work 'HEDT' with Quad Classifieds - inset pic is showing initial leak-testing...still have 12 or so of the universal GPU coolers (Copper, Swiftech)...very useful; just add heatsinks for the VRAM and a 120mm fan and results are as good if not better than custom GPU blocks.
Thanks, Oliver was very good with Plexi(or whatever it was made of). I had the idea in my head for some time, so we decided to give it a try for a competition.
Sadly they valued a few modifications on an existing case more than a custom build, so we didn't win anything besides the payout from the insurance. As far as the Gold OCZ goes, I don't own it anymore otherwise I could have some fun with it. I was stupid or smart enough to sell most of my hardware at the time, and now I regret not having most of that cool stuff anymore.
On the other hand, I didn't have room to store it at the time and my mom would have killed me if I kept everything1 hour ago, UltraMega said:I have this old PC with a 2500K that I bought new a long time ago. CPU is OCed to 4.5ghz. Occasionally I loan it to customers if their repair is waiting on parts and they need a computer to use in the meantime. It's kinda funny that they are always really happy with that computer and surprised by how responsive it is.
This is what I always say when I'm playing with older hardware, how responsive it feels and how good it usually works (also with Windows 7 installed).

So I decided to take a look on one of my old backup drives and I had so much fun looking through the stuff I found there!
For instance, a folder filled with overclocking software and benchmarks from around 2009
Sorry for photodumping here, but man these were good times! Living at my parents place, playing with (still cheap) hardware...
This was the first computer I bought myself, with an Athlon X2 5600+ and a 8600GT.
In this picture I already upgraded to a 9600GT though.
One might think that my hobby escalated the past year or two, but I was the same 15 years ago
Folding at home around 2009, trying to keep temps in check during the summer:
And another system running folding@home, or maybe benchmarks at this point...My first voltmodded card, an EVGA GTS250 done by CL3P20 from OCN:
My second voltmodded card, a GTX275 done by CL3P20 from OCN.
Usually ran this one at stock voltage, besides a few benchmarks I did.And one of the cases I regret selling, a CoolerMaster ATCS840.
One of the coolest builds, a custom case made by Oliver and me. The idea came from me, he did the Plexi cutting etc and shipped it to me.
There was some damage and we got a full refund from the shipping company, as we insured it for 1k worth because of all the work put into it- 5

Would be an LN2 Copper pot making a difference? for sure you could argue its "massive"
A copper pot without LN2, maybe a bit because it has more surface area.
A copper pot with LN2? Well, as long as you can fill it fast enough, the socket heater can keep the back of the board warm enough and you have everything covered in vaseline or liquid tape... -
It will heat up and stay warm for a long time, it won't dissipate the thermal energy to the surrounding air fast enough.
Maybe useful if you've got cold feet, take it with you in bed to keep you warmInstead I'd machine a nice big hole from the top to the bottom through that copper bar and make it into an LN2 pot
