I'm sure this is no big deal to a number of forum members here, but this is as close as I've ever gotten to a cutting-edge GPU so it's kind of exciting for me.

Yes, it is used. Yes, much of its potential will be wasted for a few more months until I build my Zen 4 machine. I have a friend building a new PC now who is interested in my 3060 Ti, and I was going to upgrade sooner or later now that I'm driving a 4K TV and a wannabe-4K ultrawide monitor, so I went for it during an active eBay Bucks promotion.

Also, I get to own a small piece of history, a top-shelf EVGA FTW series card with nearly top-shelf 30 series silicon, for a period of time while it's still performance-relevant. It's sad to say that this will be my sixth and final EVGA card and we all know it has nothing to do with being dissatisfied with the brand.

I really enjoyed my 3080Ti, it was in my main system for a long time and after that I sold it to a friend who's now using it in his main system.
No shame in buying used products either, I do it all the time!
So have fun with that card 💪

For me, the choice is a bit easier since I skipped LG1700 altogether (and so far, AM5). It is just too late now to get into LG1700 at this point and either way, I will get into DDR5 with the next upgrade. All that said, I first want to see lots of reviews on how the OS schedulers deal with the 7950X3D and 7900X3D.  Also, I am still thrilled with my 5950X AM4 at 4K, so there is a bit of extra time to make an informed choice on a new mobo, DDR5 etc

I agree with all of the above 😄
If, for some reason, it ends up being a crazy good performer for globals I might pull the trigger and get one of them. I just don't want to buy another motherboard..

Thnx bro you infected me with the OCD over clock disorder. I really like seeing the improvements a good tweak and some hw like cooling gives.

Ren my first costume waterloop today with great success. Having the radiator on a board so I can place it outside help a lot with the temp haha.

Soon I'll be placing shunts and volt mod like you do @Bastiaan_NL

Haha, the addiction is real 😂

Just about the only thing the network will let me log into. Cant do anything with discord on mobile really. Besides, you don't like having to do the "Admin" stuff right?

That's right, I do look around for errors in subs and reports though.
But usually our submissions are pretty decent compared to the rest of the hwbot community 🙈

  5. @server075 grabbed first place in the Novice league. He's been working hard the past few months collecting hardware, improving his overclocking skills and figuring out better cooling solutions for his hardware.
We've been on stream together a lot, usually he has to listen to my rants about stuff that isn't working or cards I've blown up, but in the mean time he improved his results over and over again.
Congrats Michael, now keep that gold until you move to the Enthusiast league! 🍻

I hadn't done any benching for a while. Figured I probably should scratch that itch.

    Stealing my gold.... 😂
Great work though, the 29 threads tweak helped a lot!!

Also, thanks for the Eso software. That'll make my life easy (combined with Appbuster and cleaning most garbage from the OS myself)

Now most of us don't have a dedicated benchmark system/os (or multiple) so this is not for everyone, but I run my bench system without internet connection anyways and have about everything deleted/turned off.
As for my main, let's say that @J7SC_Orion's taskmanager looks clean compared to this one 🙈

  7. I've seen those @J7SC_Orion and enjoyed every second of it. Crazy result to finally beat that long standing FX8370 result and finally getting into the 9ghz range.
Now those chips are crazy fun anyways, cause we are finally able to bench up to 6.5ghz on water cooling which is something I wouldn't believe if you told me a few months ago.

👍 great entertainment but...nope, not looking for the 7900XTX smoke edition 🤪.

I actually had that happen a few years back (HDMI to DP connector cable had gotten wet some days before), but when my card 'went to the digital beyond', it also had lit-up star-nebula like effects with lightning inside in addition to a bigger bang...s.th. I do not want to experience ever again (though warranty came through).

My biggest fear is having some crackling fireworks on one of the expensive boards caused by a GPU, I'd hate to do the warranty claim on that one..

Yikes. The bad news continues with RDNA3.

Sadly, cause I was hoping it would do some crazy things. And not this kind of crazy 🙈

  9. Nice work with the testing SirB!
Make sure to compare the Graphics score and not the total score, as CPU's mess things up a lot (thanks for the free points 😄)
As for shunt modding, I love that you are thinking about it but make sure to give it some time to sink in. Your card will be modded and lose value if you ever decide to sell it, unless someone really wants a modded card.
There is risk, imo less than a voltmod but still....

Now on the other hand, a modded card will reel in some nice points if you can keep it cold enough :glass_cool1:

...well, I hate to see a fast w-cooled RTX 3090 just hang around the home-office on a shelf doing nothing... Also, I got that build-itch-fever again, but I am also still waiting for CES 2023 to figure out future build-paths (AMD X3D ? 13900 KS?). The Threadripper has very good memory performance and a ton of PCIe x 16 (3.0) lanes. Soooo....

...a combined 19,200 CUDAs, 872 TMUs, 200 ROPs, 872 tensor cores, 150 ray tracing units and 46 GB VRAM sounds reasonable to me at this stage, especially for rendering tasks 🤔

So you are telling me that all those other GPU's in storage shouldn't be in a system too? I mean, so much hardware not being used.. Such a shame 😂
I will not turn around and look at the storage rack behind me....
I don't know what you are rendering with that much power, but I bet it'll be a quick and easy task!

What are we comparing here? The clock speed looks like a 2080Ti or something.

The one on the right looks pretty clean, way less spikes compared to the left one.
Also, what are you feeding that power supply? 12.5/6 volt is something I've never seen on any of my PSU's, and it seems to drop a lot under load 🤔
