Ps4 was about 1.8TFs on the GPU, ps4 pro was about 4.2TFs. Not too far off from the difference between ps5 and ps5 pro.
I don't see it as an issue for PC. Plenty of console games are running at a pretty low res and at 30 fps because the games are so demanding.
I don't really like that Sony is doing this. It made sense to do pro consoles for the shift from 1080p to 4k, but this just seems a little awkward. It seems like they're saying the PS5 isn't good enough by releasing another one.
Ark survival ascended is pretty hard on 4090 same for the new Avatar. I think the console are just ways too slow for those newer game engine.
There a limit to optimisation when you have dev like Wildcard (ARK) that release so badly optimised game.
And people being buying every release of call of duty even if they look the same maybe they are trying to do the same with console.
Don't know how long the PS5 will be supported.
It like the switch 2 they are trying to get as much money as possible.

While in the PC world, it is not the latest hardware. If this turns out to be true, the PS5 Pro will be a really powerful refresh. I do not remember a simple refresh being so far ahead from the original SKU.
Am jealous the spec do seem to be better than my gaming laptop.
They do need to improve console because currently i think it the issue for PC game. They can't do anything too graphic intensive because console are so outdated.

Naughty Dog announced Thursday that it’s canceled the multiplayer game it was building in The Last of Us universe.
The studio says it has been in pre-production on The Last of Us Online even while working on The Last of Us Part II. “We were enthusiastic about the direction in which we were headed,” according to a blog post about the news.

The PS5 Pro is rumored to be based on a semi-custom APU codenamed Viola. The GPU will allegedly be an RDNA 3 derivative with 60 CUs or 3,840 cores. With the core clocks set to 2GHz, we get a (theoretical) compute throughput of 28-29 TFLOPs, up from just 10.29 TFLOPs on the PS5. That’s a 3x uplift with a mid-generation refresh.
The PS5 Pro GPU looks similar to the Navi 32 XT die powering the RX 7800 XT with lower clocks and a wider bus. Conversely, the PS5 GPU was similar to the RX 5700 XT, at least concerning the shader configuration. The Pro will be paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 18 Gbps, resulting in a peak bandwidth of 576 GB/s.
On the CPU side, you’re looking at the same octa-core Zen 2 configuration with a higher boost clock of 4.4GHz. These numbers remind us of the Ryzen 9 4900H. Remember that console parts are designed after the mobility processors rather than the much faster desktop (DIY) chips.

The laptop comes with two different AMD EPYC CPU configurations, the EPYC 7713 and the EPYC 9554, both of which are 64-core chips based on Zen 3 and Zen 4 architectures, respectively.
The inclusion of server CPUs into the laptop segment is in itself something that is not standard in the laptop market since integrating them is an achievement on its own since you are dealing with problems such as high power consumption coupled with higher temperatures. Not to mention the cooling mechanism you would need to cool Team Red's CPU behemoths rated at up to 350W TDP, but the manufacturer has included an interesting solution.

Members of an ethical hacking group called Dragon Sector, including Sergiusz Bazański and Michał Kowalczyk, were called upon by a train repair shop, Serwis Pojazdów Szynowych (SPS), to analyze train software in June 2022. SPS was desperate to figure out what was causing "mysterious failures" that shut down several vehicles owned by Polish train operator the Lower Silesian Railway, Polish infrastructure trade publication Rynek Kolejowy reported. At that point, the shortage of trains had already become "a serious problem" for carriers and passengers, as fewer available cars meant shorter trains and reduced rider capacity, Rynek Kolejowy reported.
Dragon Sector spent two months analyzing the software, finding that "the manufacturer's interference" led to "forced failures and to the fact that the trains did not start," and concluding that bricking the trains "was a deliberate action on Newag's part."

AMD launched its Threadripper 7000 series CPUs in November, so people are beginning to familiarize themselves with the chips. The CPUs are available in both Pro and non-Pro versions, and they're all "unlocked for overclocking." However, recent reports have revealed that doing so will void your warranty. A source of these reports is a Twitter user who shared a screenshot of a BIOS warning saying their warranty has been voided because they enabled overclocking. The BIOS also says that overclocking is permanently enabled, which is strange. Apparently, it's permanently enabled because AMD tucked a fuse inside the processor that gets blown when this feature is enabled, so there's no going back

To boost the computing power of artificial intelligence (AI), researchers have combined run-of-the-mill machine learning with a sophisticated 3D model of the human brain made of different types of brain tissue grown in the lab.
These miniature models of the brain, known as cerebral organoids or "minibrains," have existed in various forms since 2013. But they've never been harnessed as a way to augment AI.
The new research uses more traditional computing hardware to input electrical data into the organoid and then decipher the organoid's activity to produce an output — so the organoid serves only as the "middle layer" of the computing process.

Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the update in an Instagram reel where he asked the glasses to suggest pants that would match a shirt he was holding.
It responded by describing the shirt and offering a couple of suggestions for pants that might complement it. He also had the glasses’ AI assistant translate text and show off a couple of image captions.
Zuckerberg revealed the multimodal AI features for Ray-Ban glasses like this in an interview with The Verge’s Alex Heath in a September Decoder interview. Zuckerberg said that people would talk to the Meta AI assistant “throughout the day about different questions you have,” suggesting that it could answer questions about what wearers are looking at or where they are.

Google says, "We’re starting in Kansas City, North Carolina’s Triangle Region, Arizona, and Iowa." (Google tells me the "Triangle Region" means Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill). Google Fiber is built on Nokia's upgradable "Quillion" Fiber platform, and upgrading to the new 25G PON (passive optical network) technology allows it to push more data over existing fiber lines. Once it does more upgrades, Google says it can bring 20-gig service to more cities. Back in October, Google Fiber's head of product, Nick Saporito, told Fierce Telecom that the plan is to bring 20-gig service to "in most, if not all, of our markets."

Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset is an astounding device. It's beautiful and powerful and creates virtually unmatched experiences in virtual and augmented reality. It's also a massive bet for Apple, perhaps the Cupertino tech giant's biggest gamble since it sought to reignite its Mac business in 1998.
If rumors are to be believed, Apple could be a little more than a month away from seeding the first-generation Vision Pro headsets in Apple retail locations across the country (if not around the world).

Adrenalin Edition 23.12.1 brings in official support for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, as well as a revamped interface, but the real highlight is the mentioned feature called AMD HYPR-RX Eco.
Yes, that’s a bit of a mouthful, but the idea is simple, unlike the name: this is a one-click button that kicks in a raft of features to save a considerable amount of power drain.
We’re told that this easy-to-invoke energy-saving profile will usher in power savings of up to 68%, though the catch is that it’s exclusive to just RDNA 3 GPUs right now (RX 7000 graphics cards, and processors with RDNA 3 integrated graphics). AMD says it’ll work best with games running in full-screen, so this is a gaming-targeted feature.
