  1. Definitely jealous of that pizza oven!
  2. Pretty detailed video that explains the global chip supply in clear and simple terms.
  3. Actually, you are right that AMD mobos for their newest CPU are pretty expensive right now, but if you look at anything other than the newest releases which might still be somewhat marked up just for being so new, AMD is usually a much better deal. Going back one gen, the cheapest 12th gen i7 is $266 on newegg. The Ryzen 5700x is $200.
  4. It's the motherboards. You can find some comparable CPUs on price but once you factor in the motherboard it usually skews towards AMD pretty heavily.
  5. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/percentage-of-the-processor-market-share-amd-has-risen-to-31.html I rarely even consider Intel when I build a new PC these days. The price/performance is a lot costlier than AMD, especially in the used market.
  6. Microsoft is testing a native RGB-lighting controller in Windows 11 WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Twitter user Albacore (via The Verge) spotted new options for device lighting in the latest Windows 11 preview build... ... Neat I guess. ChatGTP and RGB.
  7. You may want to re-read the article, you may not have caught why they mentioned the hateful rhetoric.
  8. I didn't read the TechCrunch article, but the text generated by the AI certainly has disinformation in it. Stating it was "secretly added" and that it's a "dangerous chemical" are false. Any chemical can be dangerous, oxygen is dangerous if you concentrate it and ignite it. The reason TechCrunch says it's "in the style of Hitler" is because the AI is getting its info from another AI generated article that intentionally has misinformation in it and was made intentionally in the style of Hitler as part of the prompt. It makes sense that the AI would get things wrong if it pulls info from the web, which is full of misinformation. Hopefully though, the AI will be tuned over time to get smarter about ignoring bad info over time. Please note, if this thread turns into a debate about vaccines or anything like that, it will be locked.
  9. When we finalize this there should be UK and US shipping options for most things.
  10. I had to watch a video of this to grasp what exactly this means. It does look pretty interesting. Basically, the AI can write whole new articles to answer your questions out of compiled information from multiple sources. Seems like a great way to avoid adds too, because you don't have to visit ten different sites to get all the information; ChatGPT will do that for you and just show you the information, kinda like a super advanced reading mode. I wonder how this will impact school assignments if you can ask Bing (and I'm sure Google soon enough) an essay style prompt question and get a full essay back right away.
  11. There are hacks that can do it on older cpus but I think if you have a tpm module it should work normally.
  12. I'm not sure I'd call 25FPS in OG Crysis DX9 mode "competition".
  13. In an age where both GPU makers are "under shipping", it's clear they don't care about market share.
  14. DLSS3 is an impressive technology, one that will no doubt be emulated by other vendors in the coming years. I think the price premium for these Nvidia only things is starting to break down a bit. The 7900XT and XTX are more price compelling even with RT considerations than anything Nvidia is currently offering. I'm not sure how much longer they can float on these upscaling techs.
  15. AMD admits to restraining chip supply to keep higher CPU and GPU prices WWW.TECHSPOT.COM If you haven't noticed, the tech industry is suffering a significant contraction. Executives are panicking as they try to... AMD must be doing better than I thought if they can afford to do stuff like this.
  16. These two threads can coexist naturally, and don't completely overlap. The thread with the newest AMD news is this thread. Category is not too important, they all cycle through the news section the same way.
  17. The white ones are 15oz and the black ones are 11oz.
  18. How weird would it be if people started making new logos with flames in them for EHW? That would be so weird.. Of course if anyone did do that, I'm sure they would use free to use clip art and/or images submitted by EHW members.
  19. I barely post on OCN anymore. No doubt it has lost almost all of it's appeal with the VS takeover. Can you announce this on OCN? I think people there would want to know that all the original staff are gone, and maybe let them know about ehw in the process? I mean what are they gonna do, fire you?
  20. AMD GPU Appears to Leave Room for Future 3D V-Cache | Tom's Hardware WWW.TOMSHARDWARE.COM 3D V-Cache GPUs could be AMD's next silver bullet
  21. I recorded some gameplay. Pretty laggy in the beginning because the planet has a thick atmosphere and it's pretty GPU intensive with the volumetrics at max, but it looks really cool.
  22. When did you start playing? I only spent $45 on the game and I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth. I don't think it's a scam, I think the scope of the project changed so drastically from it's conception to now that it's hard to gauge what kind of progress we should expect. From what I can tell, meaningful progress is being made and what's already there, though incomplete, is a massively impressive and detailed.
  23. Having played them both, I wouldn't even waste time with ED. It's a more complete game, but vastly less enjoyable overall and way less intuitive.
  24. Hoping to suck a few of you guys into Star Citizen purely because I think it's a great PC experience for hardware enthusiasts to try out. Figured I'd make a thread with some basic starter info. This is a good beginners guide video: Once you're in the game, you should try to do a few missions just to see what it's like but expect missions to be clunky and glitch out before you can finish them a lot of the time. Just use this as a way to get familiar with the game and explore, since even a glitchy mission can take you somewhere interesting. You should try to buy a backpack if you can find a store selling armor before you go out into space so you can loot stuff. The inventory system in this game is pretty weird at first. It's worth watching a separate video on it. Once you have the basics figured out, you can go to SC Trade Tools (sc-trade.tools) and look up routes to run cargo and basically play the game like a space truck simulator. So far this has been the most reliable way to make in game money that I've found. It's a lot of fun to interact with random players. The community for the game is pretty helpful and they like to show new players around. If someone needs a ride and you offer to help, it will probably lead to a cool adventure. Or vice versa, if you get stuck on a planet and ask for a ride someone will help you. Try not to get a crime rating (called crimestat in game) because if you do you won't be able to go to a lot of places until you clear it. If you do get a crime rating, if you ask for help clearing it, someone will help guide you on a mission to break into a space station and hack a computer terminal to clear it.
