  1. The cooler on this thing is huge, and the GPU temps are great. No need to water cool it but that's not something I do anyway. If I had money for water cooling I'd just get an even more powerful GPU instead. Damn, from a 970 to a 7900XTX.. haha that's a massive upgrade. What kind of monitor do you game on? What res/refresh rate? Just some thoughts on this GPU, I was really on the fence between the 4070Ti and the 7900XT. At first I was leaning a little more towards the 4070Ti because DLSS is more prevalent and pretty useful for 4K gaming. If not for the recent Harry Potter game and it's Vram scaling, I very likely would have ended up with the Nvidia card, but I don't think the 4070Ti will age well. On top of that, I looked up a list of FSR2 games and it's actually in a lot more games than I thought it was now (over 250) so I feel like AMD is actually getting closer and closer to parity with Nvidia all the time as far as upscaling goes. Of course, that leaves out frame generation but for me on a 4K/60hz screen frame generation would not really work anyway since it's more for high refresh rate screens. I just want to get a stable 4K60 with little to no compromises for anything less than heavy RT while still being able to play around with RT if I want to, and I feel like the 7900XT achieves that very well.
  2. They're definitely a lot newer than the standard pro media 2.1 kit. I think at $350 it would be pushing it. Got my set for $165.
  3. Very nice. GPU is super quiet, can finally get a vsync locked 60FPS in wildlands (even a 3090 can't do that) Very happy with it so far.
  4. ChatGPT wrote this article about itself. I asked it to. This is the future, but now. Here are it's immediate source: (11) WHAT IS CHATGPT? IS IT THE NEXT NEW WAVE OF TECHNOLOGY? | LinkedIn, ChatGPT sets a new record in technology industry, here's what it is - Times of India (indiatimes.com) , How business is already using ChatGPT and other AI tech (yahoo.com)
  5. Hogwarts Legacy GPU Benchmark: 53 GPUs Tested | TechSpot WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Hogwarts Legacy is open-world action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. Having launched to very enthusiastic... First time I've seen vram matter this much in a modern title.
  6. I'd like to see these effect applied to the metal gear logo you made. I bet that would look pretty cool.
  7. Price on used GPUs are actually going up. They have gone up maybe 10% since I made those charts.
  8. If you tried the bios update from the manufacturers website already, then there probably isn't anything else you can do. If you are getting a checksum error, try the automatic update option from the manufacturers website. On an older laptop like that I can't think of much you would need to do in the bios. Whatever you are trying to do, there are probably other ways to do it. What do you need to debug?
  9. Does it boot up and work normally otherwise? Does it only crash when you try to get into the bios menu? What do you need to get into the bios for? Have you checked the manufacture's website for a bios update?
  10. Take it apart and look for a battery on the motherboard. Take the battery out for one minute and then put it back in. Make sure the main battery is disconnected first. Just like you would do on a desktop, this will reset the CMOS/BIOS/UEFI whatever. Newer laptops don't usually have this battery, but your probably does if it's DDR3.
  11. Flashing lights? If you turn it on and basically nothing happens, there's probably not a lot you can do. You can try resetting the motherboard by removing the mobo battery if there is one, maybe try one stick of ram at a time but it sounds like the motherboard is probably the issue so short of replacing it, you might have a paperweight on your hands.
  12. Thinking about all this AI stuff, and having early access to BingChat, it's clear we are about to enter a new information age with AI generating a lot of the content we will consume online. It does make me worry about disinformation flowing more easily, but on the other hand it will make it much easier to disprove. You can use it to generate questionable content but you can also ask it to verify things. It's going to be a hot click bait ticket to be posting all the funny and weird thing the chat AI does, but it gets things right the vast majority of the time. Imagine debating someone about a conspiracy theory online, you could bombard them with so much counter information so fast that they could never keep up. News organizations that typically thrive off conspiracy theories and hate speech are going to be complaining about AI more and more, I guarantee it.
  13. I hope it was bought by a youtuber or someone who plans to make their findings public.
  14. Minor update, I built a PC for a buddy of mine with the same logic as the last two I built. This one is just at cost. First time trying a blower style 3070 GPU and, well, this GPU might need to be sent back. First PC had a dual fan 3070 and the noise was not ideal. After that, I went with a 3 fan 3070 that I got for about the same price as the dual fan one, but it was much quieter. This blower one... I got it because the prices on used GPUs seem to actually be going up and I didn't want to pay more for a 3070 than I did a few week/months ago for the last two but it's looking like it may not have been worth the savings as this GPU is quite loud. The fan also sounds like it has some minor vibration at high speeds which makes it even louder. I will try repasting it but I don't expect it to do much good. So TLDR, don't get a blower style 3070. Anyone with a 3070 looking to sell? Will buy for $350.
  15. I bought a used set of the Klipsch pro media 2.1 heritage speakers, which seem mostly the same but have a bigger subwoofer, for a really good price on ebay. She LOVES them.
  16. Glad they're doing this. Occasionally I encounter people who are still using it on windows 10 because they don't realize that edge exists as a newer replacement, or they just think edge and internet explorer are the same thing.
  17. We really need new national data privacy laws. We have enhanced data privacy laws in my state, but we need it to be more and everywhere.
  18. Nvidia boss Jensen Huang calls ChatGPT the greatest thing to ever happen to the computing industry WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Generative AIs, especially GhatGPT, have seen their popularity explode in recent months, with companies rushing to implement them into their products. It's also led to the launch... Seems like AI is starting to make an impact. First AI generated images, now this. What's next, AI generated video games? How long before AI generates an AI..
  19. Thanks E. I would have basically said the same thing but you worded it better than I would have. The drawing is better than I could do for sure but not right for merch. And as E said, we have enough artwork for now. If we do add anything else anytime soon it would have to be something that really stood out.
  20. I have this old PC with a 2500K that I bought new a long time ago. CPU is OCed to 4.5ghz. Occasionally I loan it to customers if their repair is waiting on parts and they need a computer to use in the meantime. It's kinda funny that they are always really happy with that computer and surprised by how responsive it is.
