  1. It's a bummer for certain retro games but it's really not Valves job to support legacy operating systems like Windows 7 forever. Microsoft ended support a long time ago now, it's perfectly reasonable for Valve to do the same at this point.
  2. I think we can all agree that we'd like to see anything from Valve at all. A CS refresh was expected which is nice... but it's basically the bare minimum for game development from Valve in 2023.
  3. No doubt that lots of thing are "in development" at Valve. "For release" is another story.
  4. Neat lookin case, I like the color scheme of the lights too. Only suggestion would be to move the PCIe power cables so they come out of the same spot as the 24 pin. Looks a little neater that way with how huge the 4090 is, and it helps hold up the card a little bit as well. EX:
  5. I have literally used cooking oil before, I think it was olive oil. Just a tiny dab to supplement what's still there. If you don't have anything else on hand, pretty much any kind of oil will be good enough.
  6. I can't clean install either. I think that's been disabled since they had issues with a clean install messing up windows boot files.
  7. Yup, selling locally. I would sell on ebay but so far local has worked out. There's additional time spent browsing parts online and listing the PC online, but that stuff is very easy.
  8. I'm telling you man, try the NJOY vapes, they're great for transitioning away from cigarettes. ~12 years ago I was the manager of the assembly dept. at Digital Storm and I was making about $10 an hour to build 7-8 PCs a day, so making $150 now to build one feels like a real win even if it's not a great margin. Electronics are typical a low margin game because the market is so competitive. If I look at it more like time and effort, it probably takes me 2 hours to build it (working at a slow pace) so $150 for two hours of physical labor aint bad. If I had a store front, I could do this all day and make good money IMO.
  9. Yea, probably wouldn't do this if I didn't enjoy it.
  10. Control panel working for me with new driver.
  11. Yea I don't usually use DDU for this kind of thing, but BingChat told me how to fix my FPS drops from recording issue and this was what it told me to do. Somehow it knew that this was caused by an Nvidia driver conflict even though I didn't mention having Nvidia drivers on my PC.
  12. Buyer lined up for later today. Unless something changes, gonna sell it for $1050 and make the same ~$150 as I have with the others.
  13. Yup. This basically says "Crypto is how we started price gouging the market, but that wasn't sustainable for us so now we are saying AI is the reason we can overcharge people." That said, at least AI is useful unlike crypto.
  14. Nvidia calls cryptocurrency useless for society, says its graphics cards are better used for AI WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Speaking to The Guardian, Nvidia Chief Technology Officer Micheal Kagan said that the processing power of the... This is the first time I've ever read a tech article and thought of the word gaslighting.
  15. I'll try the new driver and let you know. My 7900XT had a little coil whine at first but after removing all the old Nvidia software it went away. I was actually having an issue recording gameplay, whenever I recorded anything the FPS dropped a lot. DDU, removed old driver; fixed FPS drop while recording and coil whine.
  16. I'm not sure you have to give them your soul to use the image generation, probably just a prompt.
  17. Source Try it: Image Creator from Microsoft Bing WWW.BING.COM Intelligent search from Bing makes it easier to quickly find what you’re looking for and rewards you. Google suddenly looks like it's standing still in a rapidly changing tech race.
  18. Logitech Extreme 3D Pro X3D Joystick Flightstick PC Controller Wingman Attack WWW.EBAY.COM Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Logitech Extreme 3D Pro X3D Joystick Flightstick PC... Easy to find these used for a good price used. I got mine used.
  19. These smoke effects are dumb IMO. Bullets don't make clear paths through smoke, gernades don't make smoke disappear. These are not enhanced physics, these are made up physics. Even though I don't play CS much, I think nerfing the smoke is a really bad move.
  20. He meant "*", not the "n" word. I still say * all the time, mostly to my cats. Ok so there's a filter here apparently
  21. Same one I have, works well but stiff rudder control. I have seen people online say they have taken this thing apart and cut the spring that makes the rudder so stiff in half. I've thought about doing that myself but I've been hesitant.
  22. I don't really enjoy CS much either, and I've only really ever played it because some of my friends were playing it like straight up addicts and it was the only way to interact with them and I bet that sums up a lot of people's experiences with CS. It's just too simple and repetitive, bullets have no drop or travel time, they are all essentially laser beams. In a lot of ways, it feels like a game that's as much about having the fastest monitor possible as it is about skill, and that makes it a lot less fun for anyone without a 240hz+ monitor. Battle Royale gets a bad rep these days because there are so many copy-cat games in that genre now, but at least with BR games you get some variety to the play area. CS is a game about corner peaking the same spots over and over again and high refresh rates. Some people like that sort of thing but I've always found it a bit strange that some people get so into CS in particular because it's just soooo simple.
