  1. That isn't the sole problem, none of the other cyberattacks that have happened recently had anything to do Kaseya. It's impossible for any meaningful piece of software to be bug free. The biggest culprit is Windows. All of these attacks target vulnerabilities in Windows.
  2. I don't think you can stop it, and still be connected to the internet. The payload is delivered through an automatic update from Kaseya systems, from there it exploits vulnerabilities in Windows, installs a different version of Windows Defender and then the encryption fun begins.
  3. From the article: So apparently other than those "16 critical infrastructure sectors" everything else is fair game. I guess this wasn't part of those 16, so it's ok.
  4. It's going to be another free upgrade. That really shows how much money Microsoft is making by selling the data they are mining from everyone to again offer a free upgrade. Just for S and giggles I installed the update checker in Fedora Linux, it installs, but immediately closes. I guess I can't upgrade to Windows 11.
  5. The best thing would be to allow users to add their own extra categories beyond the standard categories. So If I wanted to list my printer or my external blu-ray, I'd hit the "Add Component" button, fill in the name "Printer", then fill in "Brother HL-L2340DW" I think that would be better than trying to think of every possibility.
  6. I knew that was going to start happening when Microsoft started buying up game studios.
  7. With the cryptic transmissions and "War is the only way home", it could be an alien invasion.?
  8. Change the ip range to just the ip of the machine and try again. Remember to restart the service after editing the config.xml.
  9. I think this would be the first new nuclear power plant to be built in the US since the accident at Three Mile Island back in the 70's. I remember when it happened. I was only about 6 years old. On TV they kept calling it a Power Plant...I remember asking my father, Why did they grow that thing? ?
  10. It's easier if you just edit the config.xml to allow remote access to the folding client. <!-- Web Server --> <web-allow v='127.0.0.1 192.168.1.0/24'/> This would allow access from all machines on your network, assuming your subnet is 192.168.1. In your browser, you just enter the ip of the machine you want to access the same as you would on the local machine.
  11. Though, technically that is headless, which should work with the Tesla's, the ideal would be to boot with no GPU installed....but since we're talking about folding...there's going to be a GPU anyway. All MSI AM4 boards since AGESA 1.0.0.6 support headless. I first found out about it when someone posted this in r/linux last year. Many Asrock boards also work without a GPU. I came across a user list of boards that boot without a GPU probably this time last year. I've been researching for a while.
  12. Yep, Nixie tubes are crude, but still elegant.
  13. It seems odd that a threadripper board would complain about no GPU, it's almost a server. I guess that's why MSI made a point to advertise that sometime last year they updated their AM4 bios's to work headless. Most don't advertise the feature, but there are ones that do work headless.
  14. Or you can remove the GT710, making the system headless, and manage the system remotely.
  15. Genuine Soviet made Nixie tubes from Ukraine. These would look good in @iamjanco Frankenstein dungeon. ?
  16. Just making a guess since it's the only island map I can remember.
  17. So if the other rumors about it being an updated BF 3 are true, the bottom pick would be Kharg Island.
  18. That's not true. Right now Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition Epic Game Store: $14.99 Steam: $29.99 Borderlands 3 Epic Game store: $19.79 Steam: $59.99 Red Dead Redemption 2 Epic Game store: $40.19 Steam: $59.99 Sid Meier's Civilization VI Epic Game store: $14.99 Steam: $59.99 Ghostrunner GOG: $14.99 Steam: $29.99
  19. I've been on a tool buying binge lately. Everything Made In USA. I don't buy Chinese tools. Wright Tool 4435 1/2" drive Flex Handle (Wright Tool - the best sockets and wrenches money can buy) Grayvik prybars (Vaughan tools with cosmetic defects are labeled as Grayvik...they're prybars they're going to get scratched the first time you use it anyway)
  20. I have to wait to get an RTX card first, but I will get this game, it's Linux native so it won't need Steam Proton.
