  1. OCN was a very different place in 2010 when I first joined. I wasn't brand new to being with computers, but I was pretty new to being an enthusiast and OCN was THE place to get advice and read about so many things from the enthusiast community. These days its hardly much better than Reddit. I still post there periodically and check it everyday like I do EHW. Perhaps its out of habit, but the vibe there died years ago. I mean they had "Buy your cocaine here" ads up last week on OCN... You've done a lot of great work with EHW over the years E and I am proud to be a part of the enthusiast community here. It may be small still for now, but I have that vibe back here. Everyone always pushing each other to achieve more, support each other, help figure things out, teach, send parts, etc. This is the best enthusiast community and I am glad we have that back with EHW. You guys have really helped me push my comfort zone and work at learning new things, doing reviews, and eventually I'll get brave enough to buy some stuff and do volt mods and all that fun stuff. Keep it up!
  2. I was more speaking to just stock clocks, but you're right I forgot about the data rate difference, i.e. the PAM4 signaling of the GDDR6X.
  3. 48GB...so would that be back to RAM chips on the back of the card again, like the 3090? Also found it interesting how they stacked the rear-IO ports instead of having them in a line on the PCB. Seems an odd design choice to me. Especially goofy if you waterblock something like this. As for GDDR6 vs GDDR6X, they are starting to come out with 24Gbps GDDR6 (Samsung if I recall), so I am not sure X vs non-X will be a big deal there going forward. I think the RTX 6000 Ada is at least 20Gbps which is faster than most stock Ampere gaming cards with GDDR6X (most are 19Gbps), except for the 3090 Ti. Obviously the 4080 and 4090 are 22.5 and 21 respectively. Will be interesting to see what they do. Wonder if GDDR7 will be next gen?
  4. Looking good. Sounds like they keep improving the drivers which is only a good thing. If I recall, they were around RX 6600 / RTX 3060 levels at 1080p when they first released. Maybe slightly better at 1440p. I wonder what they are now.
  5. Polaris, that's RX 400 and 500 right? Yikes. Those are from same era as Pascal.
  6. Also let's just talk about the fact gamers should not be buying this kind of card. This blower style is definitely for server/machine learning use cases where they are trying to exhaust any hot air and not necessarily caring about the noise profile of the cooler.
  7. Yeah I agree with this. I have bought merchandise before too when they were a lot smaller than they are now.
  8. Oh yeah, there is no doubt the performance per watt gain is there big time with 40-series over the 30-series. It's just not great when literally none of these cards are actually price point replacements of their previous generation namesakes. Winner, winner.. Obviously slightly outdated, but clearly they see these as coexisting product stacks. You want to be under $500? Buy last gen. That's Nvidia's message here.
  9. And makes me very ill every time. Haven't had it in probably 10 years now.
  10. Would love that, thank you! The wife loves white sauce pizzas anyway.
  11. Been so long since I had a pizza. Looks delicious.
  12. Oh yeah we did something similar. Went from 40/5 that they wanted to downgrade to 30/1.5 to stabilize to 800/20 for $10 more.
  13. Well ended up going through with it. Glad I did. Guess I have Barrett's Esophagus now.
  14. It's a large die with a massive increase in transistor density. Not sure what their yields of perfect/full dies are vs defective that can be cut down to 4090 spec.
  15. Doubt it if these sell. Why allocate AD102 silicon to a ~$2000 product when the same silicon can be used for a $6800 product and people are still buying up any new 4090's that hit the retail space (i.e. Not scalped).
  16. Enjoy the reviews: Banana Slicer Been thinking about getting a case I can try dual D5's in some day. May take a look.
  17. Yeah for sure. I think in this case its the original developer isn't getting paid by MSI.
  18. Thanks, that's very kind. When I get a test bench I'll let you know. Send them to someone who can use them now.
  19. Ah I knew this was reminding me of something.
  20. This reminds me of a 90's era Taco Bell cup. I like it.
