  1. Seems dumb to me that they didn't just orient the connector like how they did the 12-pins on Ampere. No hard turn here. (My 3080 Ti FE with a modDIY adapter for reference), please excuse the dust on the side panel. I will say it takes extra effort to ensure its full seated though. Its not as easy or obvious like with an 8-pin or 6-pin. I think this 12/16-pin design needs some work.
  2. Not the last time I was in the ER, but another time, they sure liked hooking me up to the IV's then making it difficult to access a nearby bathroom.
  3. Nice! Looking forward to seeing what you can do on water with this. Question, how did you determine what size pads to use?
  4. Yeah, their 8k claims were really ultrawide 4k which is not the same as native 8k. So that's pretty misleading. So now I am wondering about 4k claims, which are definitely much more relevant to enthusiasts. And agree, will wait to see 3rd party testing. The pricing looks great when compared to the 4090 price, but its also really the only actual metric we have so far, so its sort of evaluating the pricing in a vacuum of other well defined data points.
  5. Looks great pricing wise. I am guessing it doesn't match the 4090 as they really didn't have any performance comparisons to it. Contrast to 2020 with the RDNA2 launch event and they had no problem comparing to the 3090. Even so, I'd guess this trounces the $1200 4080, so this is definitely a good thing to see. My only concerns really were the misleading performance details around "8k". Not that I think 8k gaming is something to really bother with, but just makes me wonder about some of the other claims. Also noticed they didn't specify quality settings when they were showing their performance uplift with FSR. Will be looking forward to third party performance data.
  6. I always use MMO mice, so probably can't help. Might be helpful to know what features you specifically need.
  7. Good to hear from you Jan, wishing you a speedy recovery.
  8. Unless you are in the US and see the bill after.
  9. Jan, sorry to hear that. Sending all positive vibes your way, get better soon!
  10. Worst case can use a solution of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to neutralize any acid and then proceed with flushing.
  11. Must be new, never knew EK to offer a cleaning kit. I have not heard of this stuff myself, but I tend to be highly questioning of anything branded as "Cryofuel" as that coolant plain sucks. Whose to say this stuff is any better? I know Primochill has a radiator cleaner. Never tried it myself, but I'd probably try it before I tried any of this stuff from EK. But that's just me.
  12. Always love those FS2020 shots. Beautiful.
  13. I don't know. I think many just compare the 4090 pricing to the 3090 and 3090 Ti and forget the 90 branding really is just a rebranding of what we used to get for much cheaper as 80 Ti's in their respective generations and in doing do, Nvidia pushes the price up and it gets normalized. As bad as the 4080 12GB was, I still look at the 4080 16GB and think to myself, wow, Nvidia actually has the gall to sell a 379mm2 die card for $1200. Wow. The performance is definitely there in the 4090, but make no mistake, the performance per dollar of every card in the 40-series is definitely a regression. I had an interesting video pop up on my Youtube feed yesterday and I gotta say, it makes a lot of sense. Anyway I apologize. I didn't mean to bring my distaste of GPU pricing trends into your thread. Taking that aspect out, realistically I am very impressed with the performance and am really looking forward to seeing what a waterblock does for this beast!
  14. Was going to say, these are two different models. You posted the A1 and J7SC posted the C1. Yeah makes sense C1 is just selling refurbished now. Its a 2021 model and I think they had their big blow out sale of remaining new stock when I bought mine new on amazon for $790 USD + tax back in mid-July.
  15. Yep, water is Ampere's friend. As an aside, I get a kick out of how long a lot of AIB 30-series PCB's ended up, yet so many of them either have a lot of empty space, or holes for the airflow passthrough. It made it tricky finding a card that would fit in my case (from a width perspective) and length perspective due to my reservoir mount location. Anyway, 3060 Ti is a great card. Looking forward to your shunt modding.
  16. I don't think Nvidia was the primary designer of that connection standard, but they definitely pushed for it. Intel was one, so its funny that they are not using it. I don't think it has anything to do with just the Nvidia adapters. Whether you use an adapter, or a new cable, or a cable extension, just feels like the overall design is shoddy. Heard a lot of electrical folks chime in saying the amps on 12v over the small pins just leaves them a bit flabbergasted as to how this design was okay'd. Yeah I definitely don't want one of these cards with the 12VHPWR connector.
  17. I'm still waiting for the cooking eggs memes to make a comeback. But then again, these coolers are probably good enough despite the insane power draw.
  18. He speaks the truth. And if you don't go for a Blitz kit, I'd frankly find an adapter to hook it up to a sink faucet and flush it that way. I don't think swishing some water in there will be good enough. EDIT: There you go, looks like DazMode has some.
  19. Nvidia probably: But seriously, I was never against the idea of developing a new standard that consolidated PCIe power as we started getting cards with 3 or even 4 8-pins. But this 12VHPWR 16-pin ain't it. Its clear this is far too dainty for what they are trying to do with it.
  20. I believe that! This 3080 Ti hooked up to these radiators really throws the heat into the room under load. I've never had cards like that before. GTX 980 using a more mid-range die never generated that sort of heat. I don't even think my old GTX 570 was that bad and it came from the era of "Nvidia Thermi" jokes! We need to bring that back... But seriously, I won't lie, I want one too. But am I willing to spend $1600 for it?
  21. Don't forget a new cooler with these things. I really don't know what AMD was thinking with AM5. Preserving cooler compatibility with AM4 sounds good on paper, but in practice resulted in too many compromises that ironically make the thermals worse, like having the thicker IHS to maintain overall height with AM4. Just my opinion, but I find Zen 4 and the overall platform to be a dud. I will be interested to see what they end up doing with Zen 4 3D though. Now that 13th gen has dropped, and presumably these are coming in sooner this cycle (I heard Q1 next year), should be an interesting matchup, and maybe by then platform costs will be better.
  22. I just can't bring myself to think spending $1600 for a gaming graphics card makes sense, and despite rebrands to now a "90" class, to me these are no different then what a 1080 Ti or 2080 Ti were to their respective generations and product stacks for much cheaper. The cost of the cards are not explained by only increased wafer costs or inflation when we see Nvidia is making more money then they ever have with bigger margins then ever. Something doesn't track with that narrative. I'm also highly concerned about 500W or more going through a single part when my 350W 3080 Ti already acts like such a space heater during a gaming session. That said, despite the larger overall power draw vs the 3090, the improvements in the 4nm (refined TSMC 5nm) is clear. Samsung 8nm was just a refined 10nm which made it quite ancient by comparison. That said, just that transistor density increase is crazy! I will be curious to see how the increase in L2 cache looks for the 4080 and 4070 in the future with their 256-bit and 192-bit buses. All that said, can't argue with the impressive results and this is clearly the card for 4k120. I am also on a 48" C1 OLED, and when I honestly sit down and think about it, it takes me forever to get around to playing modern games. I am only now playing Control and have yet to ever fire up CP2077. At this point, I am content with what I have and will look forward to seeing what a future 50-series or RDNA4 (or whatever it ends up being) and seeing what the card that can do 4k120 in those product stack looks like in cost and power. Hopefully both will be much lower. I do really look forward to what you can do with this puppy under water though!
  23. Well washed the car and was going to put a sealant on when I got home, but then the wind kicked up something fierce and it got very dusty again, so decided well will take it sometime this week to rinse off again and do this properly. Then a bird decided to disrespect my hood today. Sigh. Had to get that off quick.
