  1. Tough crowd. You might have been going a little fast, but ultimately the lady is the one who pulled out in front of you Avacado. Anyway my stories of wrecks are the following: Year is 2015. I need to set this one up. I was working in a job that felt like literal hell on earth. My team even got t-shirts to that effect - i.e. "Working at DaVita is like riding a bicycle, only the bicycle is on fire, you're ojn fire, everything is on fire and you're in hell". I think we showed up to the business casual office once wearing those. Was hilarious. Anyway, it reached the point that even the weekend (one where I didn't have to work) rolls around and I wake up dreading working again in 2 days and don't want to even get out of bed. Without getting into too many details, suffice to say my mental health was not good. Work weeks were turning into 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 hours and the biggest problem was leaving for the day and then getting my evenings or nights hijacked by something coming up. And with the volume of stuff, it was all 3 of us on the team getting burnt out at the same time. On-call rotation? Too much work, let's just burn everyone out. It was bad, place was super toxic, my team of 3 was awesome, but we were getting no help and burning out fast. Anyway, I was at a pretty low point in life, self care wasn't great. But this particular Saturday, I resolved to not sit around feeling sorry for myself that day and get my ass up and out of the house. I thought, ok I'll go see a movie. So I did. I don't remember which movie. If I had to guess, I think it was Ex Machina. Anyway, leave the movie, drive back home. I want to say it was May, so it was raining. I am almost home, hit a long line of cars at a red light. Well I am stopped. I look at my rear view mirror. Anyway, I see this older pickup truck coming behind me and I think oh god its not going to stop in time. Sure enough, hits me. At this time, I just felt completely dejected and defeated like geeze I try to do something and this is what I get. I don't think I really react much to it. Anyway, I get out. Truck is being driven by what I'd guess is a 16 year old kid and his friend is a passenger. The driver kid gets out and first words out of his mouth is "oh man, that's the second time that's happened". I look at his tires. Bald, and I mean bald. No wonder he couldn't stop, going downhill, in a rainstorm. Really pissed me off thinking about it later, but in the moment I was just like "really?" and let's get this crap over with. Long story short, work got bad again and I was once again struggling with self care, much less dealing with insurance and getting my car fixed. 6 months later finally got it fixed when I sat down and really delt with it. By that time my whole entire team, myself included, quit in dramatic fashion and moved on to other jobs. Second wreck - 2018. I am driving to my buddy's house on a Friday evening. It's tabletop game night. It's probably February-ish (I don't recall), however it was starting to snow. After getting rear ended by the dumb*** kid, I became very fanatic about tires. One big problem in Colorado is that no one takes care of their tires and I see so many bald tires out there, its ridiculous. Meanwhile, that was the first year I started using a snow tire set for the winter. Anyway, I am turning left at a major intersection, however, I am unfortunately behind another car, so as we are turning on our green light, I see out of my peripheral view a car that is absolutely not stopping and is going to slide into...well, me. I had snow tires on. Had the slow poke SUV with crappy all seasons in front of me gone slightly faster, I could have absolutely sped up without slipping and avoided the hit. However, they didn't, and it was a double turn lane, so I had cars to my side as well. So pretty much no where to go. Got clipped, cat kept sliding through intersection. I pull over in a safe spot (i.e. not in the middle of the intersection), I get out of the car and don't see this person anywhere. So I call the cops and file a report and call it a hit and run. I then call my insurance agent the Monday and they give me a contact at the police department as that intersection has cameras. So car apparently hit 1 more car at that intersection, and another car on the intersection after and then finally stopped and they got a report into the cops. So they knew who hit me, and I was able to get her insurance info, etc. Yes I am still a fanatic about tires and get pissy with the drivers here in Colorado. "Oh my all seasons are fine". Yeah but we get one snowstorm, and you can't even go up a small hill in an SUV. Screw you. Sorry that was way longer than I intended.
  2. You been playing too much Dying Light?
  3. With some more tweaking, got it even higher. Now under 300 points away from 23000 in R23 for multi-core. /img/logo.png SirBeregondEHW`s Cinebench - R23 Multi Core with BenchMate score: 22737 cb with a Ryzen 9 5900X HWBOT.ORG The Ryzen 9 5900X @ 5050.1MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the Cinebench - R23 Multi Core with BenchMate benchmark. SirBeregondEHWranks #171 worldwide and #112 in the hardware... What I really still need to do as well is RAM tuning and @Avacado was mentioning the Infinity Fabric.
  4. Been playing around with PBO, doing a slight undervolt, curve optimizer, etc. Squeezed a bit more out so far on first play with this. Now getting 3 cores hitting 4.975GHz, 4 cores hitting in the 4.8xx's, and everything else in the 4.6xx's while running R23 multi-core. Got some more playing around to do. Wanted to get a feel for which were the stronger cores vs the weaker cores. EDIT: And yet not hitting 22k still. No idea how I was when this first was built with DOCP and PBO enabled. Haven't hit it since. Makes me wonder if Windows 11 did something.
  5. I don't know. Wouldn't you be able to get a lot more from it if doing LN2?
  6. That stinks. What GPU did you have in there originally?
  7. Looks great. Haven't picked this up yet (keep forgetting). I did play a little Ace Combat 7 on the OLED the other night and that was awesome.
  8. Strange. First I've heard of a damaged AM4 socket.
  9. This speaks to me. I do the same sort of thing.
  10. Yeah this was my thought as well. They've been spending their money to set themselves up for the foreseeable future. I'm sure it will all pay off in the long run.
  11. I have two ISP choices basically. Centurylink or Comcast (XFinity). I refuse to get Comcast even though it could be faster (at least according to their site). Centurylink ADSL might be slow by comparison, but I never have data caps with them. $55/mo. for 40 Mbps down/1.5 Mbps up. Would be nice if they ran Fiber. My buddy gets Fiber from them for $75/mo. I think, and has 1 Gbps down/up. My only complaint is with multiple users on the net, really have to use a net limiter or any built in download limiters when downloading huge games or something so it doesn't make everyone else slower than molasses. Outside of that though, its generally been pretty reliable and while I have experience downtimes, sometimes lengthy, those are usually rare.
  12. Love it Pio! In the future, I hope to do some retro builds too (when I have space to accommodate such projects). I wish I had my original ATI 7500, 9700 Pro, etc. I think I still have an X1650 Pro somewhere. Sadly not sure what happened to the rig with the 9800 GT in it.
  13. Nice! Yeah I just don't see much need for yearly, or every gen upgrades these days.
  14. Yeah, my sig. My 4790k system is still the first one to show up.
  15. Hmm, maybe will play around with that then, thanks. Edit: Showcase didn't change anything as far as I can tell. I guess show/hide is an option. Or perhaps just recreating them in the right order if there is no way to change it.
  16. Hello, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I have my two rigs in my signature. How would I go about reordering them so the newer rig is the first one to show? Thanks.
  17. Nice job gang, site has been working great for me. Thanks for all you do.
  18. Yeah gamers won't need a 48GB card. But if its not actually a Titan (and I don't think it will be given power draw rumors), it will be a 48GB, expensive, gaming GeForce card. Which is exactly what the 3090 was. Jensen sure did a good job calling it "Titan class" and so many fell for it being a "Titan replacement", when it was never that. Marketing at its finest... Still the rest of the cards have stagnated for multiple gens now. 8GB 3070 was kind of ridiculous.
  19. Yep, its why I stopped upgrading every gen. Just not worth it to me. Yeah, I've been wondering about this too the past few days. I'm on the fence about how Nvidia will handle pricing, but what you say does make sense.
  20. I do care about power draw. If a card is twice as fast as a previous gen card, but uses twice or more power to get it, that just tells me the card sucks as a gen on gen improvement architecturally. You're just brute forcing at that point.
  21. I just hope gamers quit trying to call it a "Titan card". Prosumers don't want 800w cards that don't have Titan drivers which are a bit of an in-between GeForce and Quadro. Will be a ludicrously expensive halo GeForce product I am betting. On another note, 48GB does make sense. Up until Pascal/Turing/Ampere, really starting with Fermi -> Kepler -> Maxwell -> Pascal, each tier of card was usually doubling in VRAM gen on gen. For instance, the midrange cards of each: GTX 460/560 at 1GB, GTX 680 at 2GB, GTX 980 at 4GB, GTX 1080 at 8GB. Yes I am calling those mid-range based on the chip. Same was happening with the 80 Ti cards and Titans for a while, until it wasn't. They really stagnated the VRAM after Pascal.
  22. Sounds like where I grew up. You had dial up, satellite (which really sucked), or ISDN before DSL showed up for a whopping 1.5mbps down, but that was an upgrade.
  23. I got mine for under $800 + tax. Think it was $796. Looks like they were clearing them out.
