  1. When PCIE power connectors were new they used to throw molex --> PCIE adapters in the box Not buying a new PSU when my existing PSU is brand new. They can either put a Y cable (8+8 to 12 or 8+6 to 12) adapter in the box with the card or yeah, I'll shop AMD.
  2. Is the EHW 2.0 available for playing around with to us strong alpha beta testers? Guess I should go check relevant thread so much exercise ban
  3. I also bought the MGS bundle PS3 lol. Wish I had saved the box. Also a huge Metal Gear fan. I need scissors! 61! I need to play MGS4 again, I haven't played it since before they added trophies.. one of these days I'll go ham and get the platinum in that game... unless there's online trophies which shouldn't be doable anymore.
  4. 486 is me. I'm 486. Mellotrons are more retro than the 486 Mr. Jethro We look forward to your build log. Video where you explain your wild contraptions optional but preferred BAN
  5. Banned for making points my 486 isn't fast enough to computertate points no comprendo
  6. Too old to be useful but never too old to be a furgy memory funhouse! also it can be useful, it can work as a gigantic integer calculator in a pinch!!!!! Floating point costs extra. ban
  7. Unicorn vomit is beautiful. You should see the upgrades I made to my "set". Though I intend to tone that down. Anxiety inducing news sent to your other place PM box ban
  8. Hehehe I see what you did there that's one fly looking "retro" rig you got there ban
  9. Leo & Gus are willing to forgive and forget in exchange for classified evga cards ban
  10. Ah good ole lead free solder and oven reflowing tactics.. I've heard lots of good things about more modern lead free solders though, so that type of crap will hopefully be a thing from the past unless some cheap newfangled soldering technique results in cold joints all over newer consoles.. I'm curious to know what some of your favorite PS3 games are..? Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls are my prime excuses for never doing away with my PS3..
  11. Ahh I didn't know you still played with PS3s. I still bang on my PS3s with rebug almost every night.. I've done the IHS removal quite a few times -- I use a painters knife kit I bought years ago specifically to delid CECHA01-E01 phats, which was pretty much the "official" way of doing it. Maybe one of these days I'll record my process after having done it so many times. I have destroyed a few myself, it's a tough delid... For OG phats with the PS2 emotion engine on board, it's an absolute must for their survival. They'll just plain cook until YLOD without a delidding.. I cringe at people paying $100-200 for them on ebay knowing full well those systems won't live long.. definitely recommend buying like E did if you don't want to risk the delid. I too use later model systems with rebug & PS2 ISOs... Really NO need for the OG phats anymore.. Much easier to just buy a PS2 at that point (FCMB + ISOs on those are super easy now, and 1080P upscaling is available ON REAL PS2s!!!) I hate early 90nm systems minus the few bucks they make me from time to time delidding them so the fan doesn't run at 600%.. if you want PS3 phats just for the look of them, get a CECHL01 mmmmmm console rants
  12. Understandable.. Just hard for me to believe it's 2020 and the happenings of the last decade are already buried in dust. Makes me think of the Ferris Bueller movie.. "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while -- you could miss it!" (meanwhile that's 35 years old) Re above post totally! Jack one of those up to a 9900K.. Not very retro!!
  13. Banned cuz cloudflare is having some major malfunctions tonight
  14. A fine tale indeed! OP read like dramatic prose, love it ... The carpet knife duct taped to the desk lamp is my favorite "MacGyver" Nice to see "old" (is this stuff really that old already that it would be covered in dust..?) instruments of HWBot lore being resurrected. A job well done! Glad you didn't 'splode the 780Tis. I know a guy who probably would do such a thing
  15. Banned cuz kitty is weird. Today I woke up to a weird purring sound and I think she was licking my hair. Doggies came and told her to get her butt back in the window sill or else
  16. Weird.. I used to buy so many games from these sales. Now I feel like there's nothing I want. Would love a WW2 themed single player shooter like COD1 or 2 but I guess those aren't really done well anymore
  17. Permabanned for not banning plz transfer ownarship of ehw to my dog banbanban
  18. What are you guys buying this year? I'm getting Dusk... tossing up between Doom Eternal or Sekiro but that's really about it.
  19. Banned cuz I'm moar tireder.. you'll hear all about it when you sign into the other place
  20. I should have joined the shiny ram cool club too.. but eh Hey @ENTERPRISE is your 3950x capable of 1900IF? I see you have it at 1866 right now assuming 1:1. I was running 1866 but latest bios for my board forced me down to 1833 (on my 3700x)
