  1. Starting mid last week, I'd exit to the main menu of a game or close a game and after a few seconds, video drivers would appear to crash, wouldn't recover, and I'd have to restart my PC. This is my racing sim PC that's acting up, so I've only tried this with iRacing and Dirt Rally 2, but both exhibit this behavior. Oddly, once restarted, I can use my PC normally and while playing a game, everything runs perfectly.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any suggestions? I don't recall anything changing around the time of this issue starting.

@Supercrumpetcan you update my Doraemon keyboard?

I checked the box the other day and it is apparently a E-Yooso Z-88 not Z-77. Also known as an E-Element Z-88. It's made or probably made in the same factory as the Redragon keyboards.

All added, thanks for posting! Nice collection. Honestly I don't think I've heard of the Aqua King switches before, I'm curious about how they feel despite my typical lack of interest in linear switches.

Forza 4 and 5 have Silver ratings on ProtonDB.  They're playable in Linux and on SteamDeck.  If you want to find out if your games work in Linux it's always good to check out ProtonDB.  If a game needs a tweak, someone will post how to get it working.

Can confirm, I've played a decent amount of FH5 on my Steam Deck with zero issues whatsoever. I've spent so much time in driving/racing games with an Xbox controller though that I definitely drive better with a separate controller rather than the Steam Deck controls. Not sure if that's something that others experience.

Parts needed to build a Voron v2.4 3D Printer.   Voron isn't a company, it's an open source printer design.  You buy the parts...then you build it.

Exciting stuff! Vorons have interested me for sure, but I'm 100% not in the market for another printer at the moment. Will you be posting updates somewhere as you build/run it?

Binotto has been let go by Ferrari. I'm looking forward to seeing how well they do in 2023. The first couple of races of 2022 went very well for Ferrari, then there were repeated mess ups, almost all from the team rather than drivers. The Ferrari seems to be a really good car, but the team sucked.

Yeah that's been the theme for them for the past several years, it seems. Frustrating to see, and considering they've rotated team principals a couple times recently, I think it's becoming clear that it's a larger, perhaps organizational, issue. That reminds me of the Williams situation, I'd assumed that a lot of their troubles were due to the fact that running a "family" team in the traditional format doesn't work in the modern era of F1, and that the structure of the team changing would fix their woes, but it doesn't seem to have done so yet. I'm interested to see what their next few years will look like.

This is all that was shown so far, but it's going to have an NA V12 with a hybrid drivetrain for 1050hp.

That's neat, I'm almost surprised it's still an NA V12. Maybe they said that earlier and I missed it or something though, I haven't been following what Lambo's been up to super closely as of late.

So the astrolokeys set was lost in the mail. Took a refund and bought a different AliExpress special. This time an Evangelion theme.

The glorious lynx are smooth and quiet but it turns out I still don't like light linears. The magical girl tactile switches are really nice so I'll swap all the switches over to those at some point

A few posts back I posted to PC Sarge (in a very long post) about taking apart my GMMK and using thin crafters foam to pack the hollow areas of the case with, as well as putting this foam on the front of the pcb between the space bar stabs and using double sided tape to keep it in place. Go read it, and then you might want to consider doing it to get rid of any metal clang sound from your board. It worked great for my GMMK, and it made it heavier so it wouldn't slip around as much and when you lift it it doesn't feel hollow or cheap.

Ah, I'll definitely consider that. I've heard about foam packing, but haven't seen an example of an exact type of foam that's usually used, so the Amazon link in your previous post is super useful. Thanks!

Those look great! Enlighten me as to what Halo Clear switches are like (I'm guessing not clicky but linear or tactile like browns).. you should do a video demonstration.

Thanks for adding my wife's new board and numpad. One word of warning regarding the Yunzii numpad: it came with Gateron Yellows and they were extremely difficult to get out- I couldn't do it, I had to ask my wife to get the switches out. They do provide a combo keycap puller (wire type) and switch puller in the box but my grip strength and lower arm strength wasn't enough to get all the switches out. I assume the ones I put in it (mostly Kailh whites because I only had like 4 Pinks left over) would be difficult to get out as well. If you're strong and not physically disabled like I am it might not be an issue. I think the problem is simply that the square holes for the switches are like just big enough to get a switch in and smaller than most normal swappable boards.

Thanks! The Drop Halo Clears (and Trues, for that matter) are indeed tactile like MX clears, and I should do a video since the key switches themselves sound pretty good. However, I definitely get a resonating pinging noise in my keyboard when I type, and that completely ruins the sound lol. I definitely want to address it, but don't know off the top of my head how I should go about doing so.

That's interesting, I suppose that's good in the sense that taking off a keycap won't rip out the switch with it (had that happen a few times) but it doesn't seem like it should be that difficult. Something to keep in mind then.

  10. Been absent over the holidays, but I'm back in the swing of things now.

All the new boards look great guys! I'm now also interested in a Mini Cat to gift haha. The Yunzii numpad pairs quite nicely @neurotix, I'll consider that as well.

Everyone's new boards have been added to the list.

Additionally, I got myself a new board a couple months ago that I seem to have neglected to post about here. It's my new daily driver, a GK96X with the Halo Clears. Got some pudding caps for it, was a bit tricky to find a set that fit the layout but I got one that works with the correct profiles and everything. Big downside about favoring the 96%/1800 layout so much. Looks pretty tame but it's a nice balance for me between heavy weight, not being obnoxiously loud, and looking nice but not over the top, so it fits with the rest of my setup fairly well. Also temporarily had the original set from my Tab90 on there until the pudding set showed up.

We can certainly change some text to have it read "Join Team 233902"

I avoided linking to EOC Stats as my aim was to link to our internal Stats Site which will hopefully evolve over time.

So far as the 3 Day Champion, its possible this will be altered but for now its a starting place 🙂

    Thanks for your feedback.

Gotcha, I totally brainfarted when I read the folding.extremehardware.net link; that works.

    Hey guys,

So I have been working on a basic mockup for the Folding Widget that will sit on the forum homepage. Please note that colours are not final.

    image.png.fa56367b6b2b6a7b1fac6a6ded8b7c3c.png

Regarding the "Last 3 Day Folding Champion", I wanted to show who on the team was currently knocking it out of the park. After speaking with Axipher it was suggested that this be based on a 3 day output. What are peoples thoughts on this ?

    All comments welcome 🙂

    Thanks,

    E

Personally when I saw the "See All Stats" button, my first thought was that it'd go to this page:

    FOLDING.EXTREMEOVERCLOCKING.COM

F@H stats team summary for ExtremeHW. Help Folding at Home fight Coronavirus, further medical research, and prevent diseases with...

Then you could have a button that says something "Join the Team" or "Join the Discussion" or something under it that links to the forum, or a link advertising the current or upcoming monthly 48 hour competition.

Also, don't think the 3 day champion would change to much so I'm not sure how interesting it would be, but it's not hurting anything at all if others see value in it.

Yeah, despite packing the case with foam to dampen sound and doubling up on o-rings for the space bar on both boards, there is a pingy metal sound from the spacebar.

Keep in mind my pc is in a very large finished basement room (like 1100 sq ft) so there's an echo down there which makes these sound worse than they are.

Gotcha, that's fair. On my most recent board, a GK96X, with Holy Pandas, I actually am in the opposite boat with a great sounding spacebar but some annoying pinging and echoing on pretty much all of the other keys. Probably the worst I've had, so I'm considering actually doing something about it for once lmao.

There you go. Decided to include the non-Box Kailh MX Blue switches in the Rosewill K85 for reference, since they are clone Cherry Blues which everyone is familiar with.

    Which do you like best?

Nice, thanks for the comparison. I forgot how clicky MX and MX clones really sound. I definitely prefer the other two as a result, probably moreso the jades, but the spacebar has an odd pingy-ness that I don't quite like.
