UPNP I find to be junk personally. Always manually forward ports if you can. I assume that you have forwarded the ports in your ISP router to the IP of your Firewall box, then in the Firewall box forwarded the same ports to your PC's static IP ? You essentially have to forward the port traffic to your Firewall, and then forward it again to your PC. I also assumed your PC has a static IP ? Or bonded an IP to your MAC address ?

I agree that more effort must be made on the video descriptions/thumbnails with appropriate back links. It is something I will add to the list

Changes to the "Latest" Section - Have you say!
ENTERPRISE replied to ENTERPRISE's topic in Site Suggestions
I will put together some concepts and pop them in here later this evening. Each concept will have a Widescreen version, for those with monitors larger than a laptop and a laptop/mobile version. To give a rough idea on look depending on screen types. I will likely hard limit the topic titles to 2 lines, after which point truncation will kick in. This is to prevent overly long titles making each "block" too tall. -
Hmmm, I am not 100% sold on the idea of another channel. The current YT Channel would suffice, all that is required is to organise it into playlists such as Review Content, Podcasts and another category to be named for user based uploads. I do not see the benefit of managing an additional channel strictly for a different category of content that relates to the same subject matter . Perhaps I am missing the point?

Changes to the "Latest" Section - Have you say!
ENTERPRISE replied to ENTERPRISE's topic in Site Suggestions
I think the issue here is resolution as the latest section obviously thrives more when it has more screen real estate and ultimately is better, I will have to discuss with the dev how these elements scale depending on resolution and try and improve the experience for smaller screens. Yes, I think we could combine the date with the name keeping it on the same line. -
Hello all, With a view of having more of the topic title showing on each topic block in the "Latest" sections, I am thinking of removing the "Started" Date/Time. So we are all on the same page, I am thinking of removing the below element within the red box While I could keep the date and time, this would lead to the height of each block becoming rather chunky to a point where It would look undesirable. I feel that the started date/time element is actually not all that necessary and could be a sensible sacrifice in order to not have the topic title as truncated as it currently is and have the title carry on to a second line if necessary. Please see the attached poll and vote for or against this change Thanks, E

All ideas welcome...even if weird

Hmmm, Now I could be wrong but isn't Linkedin best for singular people to show off work history and portfolios? Not sure if it would be a good fit. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

I will certainly give you a shout once I have things a little more organized YouTube ads could be another reasonable way to advertise the site, no doubt. Good idea

Awesome No ideas on the media outlets so far as which are free and which are paid, but I will cross that bridge when I start really delving into it. Free obviously better, but if the cost is worth it, I am all ears.

Release.

Anyone with the current 4000 series lineup (non-super) might as well hold on to what they have and wait for the 5000 or 6000 series to drop. Anyone with a 3090 should also keep hold of it until the 5000 series. I don't thing the Super series has shaken anything up but to be fair this should not be a surprise. Afterall the super series is only a refresh.

Ebay for sure. I take a look at the competition, AKA other sellers and I choose to undercut them if I would like a quick sale....or match them if I am happy to wait.

Hello all, 2024 will be a year of promoting the community through appropriate avenues to let the world know "We are here!" and increase community traffic. This will be done through the avenues as listed below and this post will be updated accordingly with respects additional avenues used and when the promotion has been completed/ in progress. Promote EHW via Technology related Facebook/Twitter groups - Feel free to suggest any groups! Promote EHW via Local Media Outlets Promote EHW via International Media Outlets (USA/CA/EU) - Feel free to suggest any outlets! Pay Per Click Google Ads Supply EHW Business Card/Pamphet with every Ebay (or similar) sales. - If you are happy to help with this, I can supply you with the media to do so! Clean up YT Channel, better descriptions with backlinks and improved Thumbnails. Possibly merge Podcast videos to Official EHW channel. I am keen on promoting the community to increase interactions between our membership and to increase the volume and variety of content for all to enjoy. I am dedicated to making this community the best it can be, we (in my opinion) have the platform down which for me was always an integral stage. Now it is time to bring the people! Online discussion forums is a competitive space and these days it is hard for a new start-up to gain traction. We have done well up to this point through word of mouth. Thanks to all who have spread the word of EHW and I hope you will continue to do so If you have any suggestions on any additional avenues you feel would help, please feel free to post. I feel the more minds put to the task, the better. All the best, E

Definitely, to be honest it is the only way I can "Justify" the upgrade to a newer generation. In order to avoid downtime I try to purchase the new GPU and get it in my system first, then will sell the older GPU to offset the cost. The 3090 I have now is the single most expensive card I have ever purchased, and that was even with using the EVGA queue system before everything went nuts with Covid/Mining. I think I will be preserving my 3090 for some time to come. As much as I would enjoy a 5090, I reckon the price of it (assuming Nvidia keep on trend) will put it outside the realm of justifiable. Gone are the days of buying this "Because I can" lol.

Yeah this is it, from a financial point of view, im not looking forward to the next few years as a homeowner, bills, parent, tech enthusiast when it comes to how much things are costing. Something will have to give and usually it's the hobbies we enjoy...go figure.

wccftech Valve’s Steam Officially Ends Support For Windows 7 and Windows 8
ENTERPRISE replied to bonami2's topic in Games News
Hello all, I am up for debating and the continuation of this conversation, however let's be sure to keep it civil as it has mostly up to this point. It is clear not everyone's experiences will be the same and there will be some learning done on both sides of the fence Thanks, E -

A shame, well for Windows 7, however I understand STEAMs stance. -
So I think so far as CO tuning I have settled with the below. Obviously some weaker cores than others, and oddly Core 9 was obviously always on the limit. At stock values I was getting errors from that core, so once I have it a Positive value, it was nice and stable. After reading on the internet, looks like this is not un-heard of. This finishes my CO journey, certainly time consuming. I could likely improve this by a mV here and there but honestly, it is not worth the additional time expenditure and the gain would be negligible. After I have finished messing with my GPU, I may look into the mystical eCLK

Unfortunately, yes. People are not voting with their wallets. However from the consumer side, or should I say professional/prosumer side Nvidia has a good choke hold with their penetration into hardware acceleration whether it be CUDA or other related Nvidia technology. As a CAD and 3D Scanning user, I cannot/will not touch AMD. From prior and recent experience, Solidworks performs much better on Nvidia GPU's and the reliability is far better. Not saying you simply cannot use AMD GPU's with Solidworks, you can and I have, but the experience with an Nvidia GPU is superior. Furthermore our 3D Scanner at work will not work on AMD GPU hardware PERIOD, it is literally designed for Nvidia only and after speaking with the makers, they told me they could not get reliable performance from AMD hardware. So some users such as myself have no choice to go Nvidia, regardless of the price . This is why I would love Intel...or whoever to really disrupt the GPU market and give us another contender. That or AMD really pulls itself together in the prosumer/professional segment and gives us reliable competition so far as hardware acceleration/API's as Nvidia does. So, some people certainly have the luxury of voting out of Nvidia, but some of us don't

Happy New Year guys. I hope you all have an excellent 2024 and the same to your families

With you on that, the 5090 looks like a powerhouse, which will also cost powerhouse prices and I think many people will want to not opt for the top end tier because of that. However as usual, Nvidia are forcing people to heavily consider the 5090 if they proceed with gimping the 5080 with a 192-bit bus. However this is nothing new from Nvidia to be perfectly honest. Considering the price the 5080 will end up being....a 192-bit bus will be an impossible pill to swallow. Back when I got my 3090, I went that route as I found the lack of VRAM on the other lower tier line-up concerning, so I went for the 3090 and that was a large determining factor (4K and productivity work etc), thought I did not NEED 24GB, I would likely have been fine at 16GB. So Nvidia's game plan no doubt works. Due to life being more expensive these days, something like a 5080/5090 would likely be out of reach anyway.
