Cooling down the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H Mini PC, Thoughts & Advice?
ENTERPRISE replied to HeyItsChris's topic in CPU's
Sweet, you will have to let us know your final temps once you have finished the mods so we can see what a difference it makes -
Always a shame to see. I would imagine it is more about resources than behavioural issues of members. We should head over and welcome them here. Source

Cooling down the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H Mini PC, Thoughts & Advice?

Good job with the re-paste. So you have put the copper shim to the underside of the motherboard behind the CPU? -
I have indeed found a new supplier for the T-Shirts and I am trialling one as we speak. However please note that life is not always "Just do it already". Cash is king, and to be frank, ordering samples to trial costs, just as much as the store actually has to be financed BEFORE orders come in. The production for all orders has to be financed directly by EHW, to which you need to have the funds to ensure that you can cover a good majority of orders to avoid delays and disappointments. Remember that users who spend their cash on an order, EHW see's none of it for a little while as all funds are held before being released. So it is not the case of spending your money to manufacturer and ship the order, EHW has to cover everything up front. To put things into perspective, I am a sole worker in the family which has to cover mortgage, utility bills, debts etc etc. While user premium subscriptions and kind donations goes someway towards the running of EHW, I pay the rest, including any merch related ventures and marketing. So as you can appreciate while time is a constraint on my end at times, money is a bigger one. Rest assured I am going as fast as my wallet allows

Thanks guys. As I say, there will be more T-shirts soon and I will add in some images related to technology that helps to pull in the name relative to a subject matter. What I will say is that so far as marketing the community, the merchandise is not the top priority right now. While the merch certainly helps in this area, It is a piece of a bigger puzzle and there are pieces that have higher importance Realistically, the Merch only penetrates so far as the immediate community and its marketing power outside of that by wearers is low (right now) but in time it could pack more punch.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I already have T-shirts lined up ready to go so far as the designs but sampling needs to happen still. Once this has completed then I will add the new merch to our store. Note there are also Deskpads coming. I think it is fair to say, there is more than one marketing strategy we could look at. I don't think necessarily you have to stick to one strategy. A healthy and appropriate combination of multiple can work. You only tend to get tied into one particular strategy mentality if you have a marketing company assist/do it for you as they will obviously adhere to a singular strategy.

Correct, the date is for the last post made -
So are you running 3DM CPU Profiles in conjunction with OCCT/Other benching tools ? When I say in conjunction, I mean running the benches at the same time.
-
I have not noticed anything yet...HOWEVER I did come across an instability with CO the other day. Typically when there is an issue, my PC reboots, no BSOD. Simply power cycles. I am yet to re-do the stability testing to see if I can identify the Core giving me issues. It is frustrating however as you can leave the rig testing for hours and hours and find nothing. I think I noted that with Core/Thread count for my CPU that you realistically have to test for something like 144 hours to fully test it. I had been running CoreCycler alongside OCCT CPU stress testing, this helped expose some instabilities. However I want to find another stress tester that I can leave running indefinitely with CoreCycler, with OCCT free, you are limited to 1 hour. I did look into OCCT Pro but there is not a one off purchase price and you have to join a patreon sub

HPET has nothing to do with voltage control. There are completely separate features. If you do not have voltage control or HPET available in your BIOS, there is little you can do about it unfortunately short of BIOS modding or adjusting voltage through Windows for the CPU should you be able to find a good utility for doing so. I assume you are trying to Overclock that CPU ? If so it may be locked, meaning you cannot OC it in the conventional way. HPET however, you can control whether or not Windows has HPET enabled or disabled. Source

Thanks for the feedback:) Just as an FYI to all, I have sent the new designs to our Dev and I will discuss this with them over the coming days. -
Hello all. This is an update regarding the Platinum Subscription. Looking at the trend of activity on the forums and the running costs of the site, I have decided to retire the Platinum - Lifetime based subscription and put a new revised Platinum Subscription in it's place, this will now be a yearly subscription $75 per year, but will come with better perks over the retired subscription such as Unlimited Storage, Unlimited Gallery functions and Unlimited PM storage. Over the long term, having a lifetime subscription would not have been a sustainable practice. As much as it was a nice idea, I have to think of the longevity of the community using sustainable cost practises. Members who were a part of the retired subscription, will remain with the perks as before for life, so there will be no change for you. Many thanks, E

Further from my last post, this is option 4, decided to go with long form date layout to avoid confusion due to different localities. -
All I can saw is port forwarding works flawlessly with my setup, ISP Router forwards traffic to my PfSense FW and then my PfSense FW forwards the traffic on to my actual devices. It is possible CGNAT is the issue or something related to PPPOE, though I cannot see how the PPPOE would make any difference.

Fair point, we could do that Thanks for the feedback I will do another mock up with Ultra's suggestion but perhaps use a short form date for the last update such as 11/01/24 @ 10:45. I would have to see if I can have it so that the date format matches a users locality...otherwise it may confuse some. -
Not surprising, I mean considering the different revenue streams Microsoft have going and the fact that the Apple fandom IMHO is and has been slowly dying off for a little while now. So many people I used to know who used to be die hard apple fans have woken up to the fact you do not need to pay Apple prices to get a good experience and are now subsequently all on Android on varying device types.

Hello all, Feasibly, and taking into account some of the feedback, I think we have the below options. 1. "Started By" Date only, Example on a larger resolution Example on a smaller resolution 2. "Started By" Date with last user to update the thread. Example on a larger resolution Example on a smaller resolution 3. "Started By" with no date with the last user to update the thread Example on a larger resolution Example on a smaller resolution Soon I will put these up (plus any other ideas on a poll vote). Once chosen I will speak to the dev and see what we can make happen. -
Well the only thing I can think of at the moment is the ISP router is still either interfering, which you can fix by configuring the ISP router to put your Firewall Device in the DMZ, which means the ISP router will ignore your Firewall device completely regarding any security protocols and will auto forward all traffic. Other than that, it has been known that CGNAT can cause issues with port forwarding. It is possible that your ISP uses CGNAT. What is CGNAT? And why doesn't port forwarding work with CGNAT? | Brsk Help Center HELP.BRSK.CO.UK A technical article on what CGNAT is and its uses
