  1. You'll never catch up on the backlog. I was living abroad for years and even now, just with work which is very "agile" in a sense. Meaning I go from low work load to high work load without rhyme or reason, I've given up on beating the backlog. I usually pick a few titles, from the log and from the year, and that's my focus. If you stay on the log too long, you miss out on some of the zeitgeist of a new launch. It's hard to balance but I find dabbling on both sides help keeps me "sane".
  2. The only thing I could find which may be what you're looking for is this: Arran: The Book of Heroes on Steam STORE.STEAMPOWERED.COM Arran is a hack and slash co-op dark fantasy adventure with some RPG elements. Gore through enemies solo or along with up to 5 online... I can't find anything with an 'R' or name similar to 'Returnal'. This is more Diablo / Torchlight than Warcraft 3 but even if it's not the game, it looks pretty decent. For the thread, I've updated the sheet with latest metacritic scores for all the titles released in the past few weeks. Including Diablo IV, Street Fighter VI, and (PS timed exclusive) Final Fantasy XVI. I still need time to add all the titles announced and new dates I won't log all the changes in a post. Too much time but if there things worth flagging after I keep digging, I will note it in a subsequent post. Important notes* Steam Next Fest is on right now. There will be some sales and of course, demos from Summer Game Fest: June 19th - 26th The Steam Summer Sale starts NEXT WEEK: June 29th - July 13th. If you're looking to buy a new title this summer, you may want to wait one more week
  3. Maybe as I update the list, I will find this title for you but so far, I am drawing a blank
  4. Ok! Welp *cracks knuckles* I was out for a few weeks but now I am back. A TON of updates. Before I go update the Google sheet in the OP, which will likely take me a few days, here is a link to everything that was announced during "Summer Game Fest". This was kindly logged by our friends at Eurogamer. I'm not sure if this includes other presentations beyond the main one hosted by Geoff but I'll need more time to collect info. Everything announced during Summer Game Fest 2023 WWW.EUROGAMER.NET Everything announced during the Summer Game Fest 2023 list, including trailers.<figure><video... For those that don't know, SGF (Summer Game Fest) is essentially the new E3. Too much politics with the ESA, the association in charge of E3. SGF will likely supersede E3 going forward. As another reminder, this thread is... more or less, is isolated to titles released in 2023. Anything released in 2024 and beyond isn't in scope. That said, dates change, games get announced etc. and I welcome any discussion about games
  5. New heads for the drums. A couple, ok most of my heads are pretty beat up. Moving from Remo Pinstripes (clear) to Remo Emperors (coated). I have an 8” head on order too. Kit (toms) are 8,10,12, 14 floor, 16 floor.
  6. Nice! Hope it plays well in 2023 with those patches or “mods”. There are probably a ton of mods that will really smooth out the experience now that I am thinking about it…
  7. New Vegas is both good and bad. It definitely has a nuanced main plot with a lot of grey choices, which was refreshing for the time. Not just good / bad. The game also is catered towards gun enthusiasts. You can build your own ammunition with a press, load powder, change bullet types, collect shells etc. I’ve played it all the way through on Xbox 360 and while the quantity of performance/ glitches were high, PC bugs were even worse from my experience. If Oblivion / Skyrim / Fallout 3 are too janky for you, NV is on a whole other level. Just remember to save frequently because you will clip, the game will crash, and you’re bound to run into a LOT of jank. I remember one of the NPCs in the intro, I think it’s the doctor when you spec up… his head was rotating in a clockwise motion. It’s engraved in my mind. P.S. Of course it’s on Youtube
  8. Just a quick update: I don’t have access to a laptop or desktop at the moment but in a couple weeks I’ll come back, update the sheet, and track all the recent announcements from the Non-E3 shows
  9. I use a couple laptops for work. One is a thin / light lenovo, the other is basically a 17” production rig. 128gbs of RAM, i9 Alder lake, Mobile 3080 etc. It’s a great desktop replacement and good at moving to and from a studio but working on the lap… not so great. The laptop gets too hot to be comfortable for mobile use. Even if I force the Hybrid graphics so the priority is on the iGPU, it’s simply not comfortable. It’s great once I throw it on my desk at home or at work with a stand and a dock or simply plug in my peripherals (dual monitors etc.). I would strongly recommend a light laptop and keeping the rig for your intended use. Keyboard and your legs will get uncomfortably hot. The two in one isn’t the best, especially if you’re prioritizing light use from a couch. Don’t get me wrong, it works but I can last about 2hrs in Outlook and MS Teams on battery. On a brick you’ll be fine but I would rather work off my Lenovo T4 for admin work. Battery is 8-10hrs and does everything I need. Quiet, light. I don’t have an Alienware but that would be my top choice based on all the feedback I’ve heard in a professional context. Otherwise I would also consider a MSI laptop. TL;DR Be aware of the caveats.
  10. Were there past Konami collections released on Steam? Sorry, I’m just connecting the dots now. I thought the collection (Volume 1) and the Remake was a shoe in for a Steam release for PC. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. It’s not a Epic Games exclusive and Konami does not have their own PC retail platform to my knowledge.*
  11. Any modifications in the remake that don’t simply just bring up the gameplay to modern standards, basically the 3Cs will be contentious. Since the whole MG5 (Kojima vs. Konami) debacle, I doubt those loyal to Kojima will want to see a RE4 Remake level modifications (Tone, level design, gameplay) from anyone but Kojima. Any MG is tricky to remake IMO without Kojima but I wish Konami the best of luck. I’m simply interested in the volume 1 collection and I bet many others will be satisfied with that if truthful to the originals IF the Remake of 3 goes to ****.
  12. Much smoother on my end! Thanks for the updates and the investment
  13. If Nvidia is nearly the sole provider of enterprise AI hardware at a time where some of the companies with the deepest pockets are fighting to remain competitive (Google etc.) that doesn’t change my view. I still believe AI is over evaluated, over hyped, or any other description that can to describe the fact that AI is not as suitable for the amount of solutions people or companies think it will provide. I don’t doubt there is a lot of potential but… how it’s being applied today feels extremely unfocused, like casting a wide spread net in the middle of the Atlantic ocean hoping to fish a golden trout. One might argue until the scope of AI is really defined, that might be the only way we innovate, right? I’ll continue to watch with an open mind but for the moment, it still feels like everyone is trying to simply cash on the AI, large language model hype (Chat GPT). E.g., Asus will offer local ChatGPT-style AI servers for office use ARSTECHNICA.COM "AFS Appliance" will avoid the cloud and place an AI language model on premises.
  14. I’m talking about the mind share, presence in media, general sentiment. Not the functionality of the tech. AI is being thrown excessively as a solution or tool for every job that people believe can be automated.
  15. AI is likely here to stay but definitely feels over hyped at the moment. I feel things will cool down in a year or so but it likely won’t fall off the face of the earth like NFTs, blockchain, and metaverse vapourware. Pendulums swing and right now it just came crashing into the room.
  16. I purchased an Ergo chair about a year ago from Branch. The chair is excellent quality but their customer service… needs some work. They’re usually around $300 USD. I would recommend if you’re OK with the lead times. Ergonomic Chair | Ergonomic Office Chair | Branch WWW.BRANCHFURNITURE.COM Overview Designed in Italy and featuring eight points of adjustment, the Branch... On topic: I don’t typically buy collectors editions because I am not a fan of statues or figurines but given how much I loved Breath of the Wild, I figured I shouldn’t miss out on collectors for Tears of the Kingdom.
  17. I grew up with Nintendo but my brother had the Playstation. I’ve never played Metal Gear Solid 2 (in full) but I do recall when it came out along side Gran Turismo 3 on PS2. Both games offered a sense of realism that I didn’t think was possible from a video game. I am intrigued to play them but I think I am more happy that others can collect or play these games again. The metal gear series is notorious for being difficult to access officially (digitally) from what I have heard. As long as they run at 60fps without hitch and maintain the original art style and audio, I will jump in later on. They don’t need to be fantastic remasters. Just good enough where it’s not painful on PC.
  18. Sony Playstation Showcase Everything announced in Sony's PlayStation Showcase WWW.EUROGAMER.NET Sony's hotly-anticipated PlayStation Showcase is over, and we now have a clearer idea of what PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 o… Here's a good summary of everything announced. I'll work on updating the Google sheet since a few titles are coming out this year and will also be out on PC.
  19. @Sir Beregond The Lord of the Rings - Gollum for PlayStation 5 Reviews - Metacritic WWW.METACRITIC.COM The Lord of the Rings - Gollum for PlayStation 5 game reviews & Metacritic score: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven... Looks like it's not even a generic tie-in and for those following the thread, this title takes the bottom of the barrel spot for a new title released in 2023. Congrats, Gollum.
  20. I read that Jayztwocents removed his video. Not that I watch his content, not my cup of tea but it’s popping up in my feed. Even TechPowerUp removed the “Recommended” at the end of the written review. Not sure why the reviews are all wishy washy. Yes the market is frustrating but when a GPU has 128-bit bus, 8 lanes, 8 GB of VRAM, small die, yet they want $400+, you really don’t have to do whole lot of testing to know this thing will buckle under high resolutions. Have we gone mental? *in Gordon Ramsay’s voice*. Reviewers need to call it out. Consumers will follow. Otherwise the trust is broken. This class of card should easily handle modest 4K game or maxed out 1440p. @ $400. The fact that it performs worse than a 3060 Ti in 4K in some titles is simply disgusting. And they want $500 for 16GB of VRAM LOL. I used to love the mid end but this gen looked like a dumpster when the rumours were rolling out last year. Unfortunately they all came true. Sure, maybe DLSS 3 justifies that the overall experience can be better than last gen GPUs for some gamers but common, we all know this class of card really can’t take advantage of that feature fully. Especially with only ~40 games utilizing it. Not to mention that DLSS 3 should be able to run on Ampere… Just a lot of caveats around it makes it hard to call it a selling feature today. Honestly, the revenue from the data centre / corporate / “AI” market must be stellar because I don’t know why Nvidia is shooting themselves in the foot. Reminds me of Intel before Zen came out. Age of Nvidia stagnation inbound? I hope not.
  21. How did Guru3D give it 4 stars and a recommendation when it performs similarly to the same class card from 2 years ago at the same price? Worse if you're still on a PCIE-3.0 board because the card only has 8 lanes. They keep cutting down the costs yet the charge the same price. Doesn't add up. This shouldn't be more than $300 in today's market.
  22. Good luck. I thought it was just me at first until I saw this thread. I would guess that I'm now going through an extra couple bounces before landing wherever I need to be. I'm not no fancy or smart technical IT network type of guy but this feels like when I am working from the wrong VPN gateway (rerouted far away data centers).
  23. Just announced... and the gore is off the charts! Sept 19, 2023 PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch
