  1. PC version will always be delayed. It’s their financial model at this point. Also get ready for a PS5 Pro / Series X Pro $10 update down the line. Double dip aint enough these days. Gotta triple dip XD. I am sure they plan to launch a series of micro transactions alongside GTA VI on consoles and in my humble opinion, best to soak console users first before the game is available on PC and exposed to mods. Also, to their forecast for FY ending March 2025, we could see pre-orders open up during that FY which could account for a large increase in their revenue without actually releasing the game. Considering that digital sales require a full purchase and roughly account for ~50% of game sales these days, it’s a reasonable assumption. I am more curious, from a financial perspective, how they will handle the transition of GTA Online. That’s reoccurring revenue paying for their current operations. Obviously you want to approach that transition as smoothly as possible to sustain the revenue.
  2. It's GTA. It's always been commentary on modern society. Besides, it's also GTA. If you're driving the car, slam the brakes, mash the accelerator. Problem solved.
  3. 2025 eh. So PC in 2026 XD. Well, it looks unbelievable. The animations and amount of NPCs mixed together with the environment and lighting is great. Sign me up!
  4. Cool! I didn't know a trailer was released. Seems a bit "over produced and cinematic" but looking forward to it
  5. Home - PC Gaming Show WWW.PCGAMINGSHOW.COM Broadcast around the world the PC Gaming Show is an exhibition of the boundless creativity and technical brilliance of the PC gaming scene. This is a thing (wasn't aware of) and it's being live streamed now.
  6. Yes, I’ve been meaning to do a follow up post here. Like a 3 month post review of my experience going from a consumer grade espresso machine to prosumer. I make approximately 2-4 cappuccinos a day so I can deep dive on it including explaining what I learned and how bean preferences changed (dramatically).
  7. Agreed. That's actually what I did in Diablo III. I recall there was even a skill called glass canon. Super fun to literally become a stationary cannon, shoot a giant laser to melt everything in front of you. In Diablo IV, Druid was a bit slow to start but I only got to level 4-5 with it and wasn't jibing with me but I was also relearning how to play Diablo. Been a long time (~8 years?). Once I went to Necromancer and saw how many skeletons I could spawn.... I realized this is more my flavour. Large wrecking crew to pillage. I'm also at level 20 and I have my class setup right now with skeletons with scythes, frost mages (7 NPCs following me) and I focus on using corpses as traps and tricks. Once skill pulls in all the enemies within range to a selected corpse with tentacles, once they're all gathered together, I use my corpse explosion to maximize my AOE and Iron Maiden skill. Honestly, super fun. I purchased the game after going to Necro and I feel this will be my new slow grind game to play whenever I am bored and don't want to focus on single player content.
  8. Diablo IV has a free trial this week FYI. I gave it a try a few days ago. Wasn't feeling the Druid class. A few co-workers told me just to give it another chance and I switched to Necromancer. Having a really good time with it. I put a stupid amount of hours into Diablo III and never thought I would go back but... they got me.
  9. Still pausing on Alan Wake 2 for now but in the meantime, went with a few purchases that we're on my backlog. I'll wait until the winter sale for Sea of Stars and hopefully Armored Core VI goes on sale soon
  10. Ultrawide monitors remind us there’s still much to learn about OLED burn-in ARSTECHNICA.COM Can playing 16:9 content on a 21:9 screen impact burn-in risk? Apparently. Worth a read if you’re about to dip your toes into UW OLED.
  11. So many other games to play and games to purchase but I love Alan Wake... Tempted... Need to sit on it.
  12. Try the* mod recommended by Ultramega a few pages back to remove the instagram filters. It will help a lot with contrast and I suspect these filters are the reason why HDR doesn't properly work in this game.
  13. Black Friday Deals are starting to go live. Black Friday Sale at Green Man Gaming | PC Game Keys WWW.GREENMANGAMING.COM Black Friday Sale at Green Man Gaming. Buy now for the best prices at huge discounts. PC... GMG is my go-to for an alternative store for Steam DRM games. If you have noticed other sales, feel free to drop a link. Also, any appetite for an ExtremeHW Steam secret santa? It’s should be as simple as sharing our wishlist of games on Steam and we can choose to gift each other. We can set a few ground rules like a spend limit and quantity limit per user to ensure everyone gets in on the gifting action. If I get at least… 7 lightbulbs on this comment by this Friday , I’ll organize it. I could create a separate thread. Let me know your thoughts
  14. Half-Life HALF-LIFE.COM Half-Life is back and better than ever. Alongside interviews with the original developers, the game is...
  15. I likely won’t play it for a while but… couldn’t resist the sale. 66% off for the Half-life 25th anniversary weekend.
  16. Mine as well unlock all emoji as a reaction icon if we go with middle fingers. I’ll start spamming potatoes and my other “most recent” emoji. Top 5 on my phone in no particular order:
  17. Controversial opinion: Thanks should be revised to Helpful
  18. Assume the worst, hope the best Can't be disappointed that way
  19. If we get a release date, don’t expect to see the little Steam icon there. Rockstar will likely not release the PC version anytime soon. I suspect so they have their install base on consoles absorb micro transactions before PC modding starts. Curious, even though I haven’t tried it, how they will handle GTA Online. That service is a money printing machine.
  20. The Game Awards THEGAMEAWARDS.COM Celebrate the best in video games and see what's next - Live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Nominees are now up! Baldur’s Gate III will likely sweep. So much positive buzz from the community, a lot of updates and visibility from the developers, 96 Metacritic… Hard to see it not win in most categories. It feels like every week I run into someone who is not a typical hardcore RPG gamer yet they’re committed to it, playing with friends or family. I hope to play it in the new year RE4 Remake is my game of the year. I’m still surprised they did such a good job making that game even more fun. I’ve played through Separate Ways (DLC) for RE4 twice already just before halloween and that expansion was only $10. Highly recommend. What’s your game of the year? Anything you missed and want to play? Anything disappointed? I have Sea of Stars, Armorer Core VI, Venba, and Cocoon on my list to play this year. Hi-Fi Rush and Dead Space I hope to go try next year but lower priority than Baldur’s Gate III… I think i’ll need to take a week off for it. Alan Wake 2 I will push to 2024 Halloween at this rate. I really wanted to play it but just came out a bit too late for mean and well… Epic Game Store doesn’t really help Switch dominated most of my time this year too. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (50hrs), Metroid Prime Remastered (20hrs), Pikmin 4 (15 hrs), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (5hrs+)… it just doesn’t stop. I doubt I will go back to Starfield anytime soon. It’s still a fun game and I got in a decent amount of hours (30+) but honestly, it feels held back or limited compared to where it should be. Hard to describe but for someone who likes the vastness of space and wandering endlessly on randomly generated planets, it feels like its missing meaningful content. 2007 used to be my favourite year (Orange Box, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Super Mario Galaxy, Guitar Hero 3… etc) but time to let go. 2023 topped it. Sorry, I could go on and on but I absolutely loved taking this year to stop tweaking with my system and just play games and it’s been great. I sincerely hope others got to play at least one game that moved them.
  21. I wear “On” shoes and I think they’re pretty great and HEH! Little did you know that I have an appointment tomorrow with the barber!! That feedback was honestly both constructive and personal all in one because I really do need a haircut
  22. Hi all, I just wanted to quickly update the thread to shed some visibility from now until end of the year. First, on a personal note, work will likely take up most of my attention for the next short while. What that means for this thread: I'll tweaking the sheet quietly behind the scenes to keep it up to date when / as possible. I'll won't be posting much in the thread for November but... I hope to come back by the beginning of December to wrap it up nicely. Links to game of the year stream. Highlights! Lowlights? Maybe a fun poll for community created categories? Who knows, sky is the limit Goal for the new year will be to start a new thread in the Gaming/Gaming General as I mentioned before. I really like the idea of starting fresh and capsulizing the year within their own threads. I'll likely use the same link but reorganizing it. I'm considering consolidating the Metacritic scores for all systems since that is majority of the effort. Mixed emotions. TBD. Open to any ideas or suggestions to wrap this up and for the new thread! I've hope you've enjoyed the thread thus far. It's been a fun hobby / experiment for me. Feel free to be direct with any criticism, ideally constructive but if personal... shove it - Slaughta
  23. Friendly bump Difficult situation. I can't say I have been there with this level of complexity. I've had a situation where my partner (now wife) and I were planning to move continents (Europe to North America). That's without kids and all of the other constraints this family face. Trying to plan flights, terminate a lease, end employment, line up other employment, secure temporary accommodation on the government's timeline (very little visibility) whilst my visa was slowly evaporating was crazy. I ended up contacting my local member of parliament back in Canada because we had no other option. They kicked some serious *** and moved things along nicely. I could only imagine how much more stressful it is when your local government increases the fees fairly significantly at the last moment. Made a small donation, hope others do so too if they can. Amy reached out and I thought it was very nice and kind of her. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted Hope they're successful
