  1. I agree with Pook, possibly raise the divider and angle it some so as to take advantage of 1 more open slot and second front fan. Another idea would be to put a short angled shroud facing the back on the BACK TOP fan and have it be an exhaust also. That would give you 6 intake and 3 exhaust fans along with the passive exhaust slots.(I think.) Also, maybe add something like this with the suggested 3 pin power to molex adapter that allows speed control? Expansion Slot Rear Exhaust Cooling Fan - Computer Fans & Coolers | StarTech.com WWW.STARTECH.COM StarTech.com Expansion Slot Rear Exhaust Cooling Fan with LP4 Connector - PC Case Exhaust Fan/Video Card Cooler Fan - System... Cheaper on Amazon and that's where I saw the suggestions for the adaptor.
  2. like they say, "Is it paranoid if they REALLY are out to get you?"
  3. lol, well, somebody else had already posted a pick of a ide cd rom/cd burner so I didn't bother taking a pic of that. a bunch of other drives are in it,but this 1 is the oldest.Think it still has xp on it. The others are larger, all the way up to a 200 GB one. In 1 of my drawers I also have an All In Wonder HD floating around.(not that it does much good on anything much after Xp unless U manage a work around for the capture)
  4. Can't really dig much out 'Cause I've got people coming in to remodel the kitchen so all that stuffs in my living & dining room blocking my parts cabinets in living room. BUT.... I did dig this out from the box under the coffee table Pic taken roughly 10 mins ago....
  5. Next it will be coordinating the RGB with the audio.....
  6. It's been 3 years since building, and about due for my regular cleaning,so I figure I'll clean & repaste my Wraith prism on my 2700x since when I just tested it was up to 85 degrees C during multi runs of cinebench and clocks were dropping to 3.7 on all cores. lol, 1 persons post is anothers motivation.
  7. I'm hoping my son's 980 has the later ver software already on it(it's in a ps5) we were kinda glad he had that when I told him about the 990's and he ck'd but now THIS stuff happening. He should be all good 'Cause he bought them after the ps5 so it wasn't when the 980 first came out.
  8. Has anyone read the comments where some working 980's with the old firmware are locking up after getting the new firmware installed? It's like they're chasing their tail.
  9. agreed, as far as I know, the main reason for the cpu compatibility was because those supported some form of encryption while older ones supposedly weren't secure enough without a tpm module. I may be wrong and MS may have been blowing smoke, but that's what I remember reading. Edit: On a side note, watch if you DO use the tmp feature of a cpu because if you end up with bios issues later and need to clear the cmos and re-install the bios, it'll assign a NEW encryption key to the cpu and old files won't be seen anymore. Had this problem and had to turn tpm off. Now I can see all my files again but NOT upgrade to 11. When I get ready,I'll copy what I want to save, and do a fresh install of 11.
  10. I'm also looking at the newer AMD cards, I'll probably wait until this fall to pull the trigger when my 2070 will be 4 years old.(purchased in spring of2019) Have no problem switching to AMD. Main reason looking mostly Nvidia is comparing apples to apples is easier (DLSS,RT,ect) I may even wait and see what the next offerings from Intel look like because the current ones about equal the 2070. budget about the same as last card.
  11. ROTFL true, but when fewer cards are selling, even AT higher prices, you want to make sure yours are the ones people are buying.
  12. Depends if they're willing to pay game companies to throw that "Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played" logo on the games like they use to. Just pay them to use DLSS primarily and others as later add in options and guess who keeps market share?
  13. lol, last night the wife called me in sounding pissed, she asked me"Is this a good video card? How do you tell? " (Was an RTX 3050) She wanted to surprise me with a better video card. Finally she was like find 1 that's better we can afford and get it & that'll be my gift 2 you. At 4:00 a.m. I just gave up for now. My 2070 still does good enough and I can just go back to 1080p gaming in anything that it struggles in. The only nvidia cards are the 3070 & up that actually are any halfway major improvement for the money.
  14. Don't know about the RGB aspect, but I clean my mouse pad with dawn in warm water using a soft scrubbing brush to gently work the dirt loose.(an old tooth brush works also). Then I squeeze what water I can out after rinsing it well and hang it to dry. If the RGB can get wet then air dry this may work for you. Edit: Just read that it's water proof, so drying shouldn't be a problem. Just watch for getting any liquids in the header if it's open.
  15. It's good to see the person who un perma banned me when I'd been banned for spamming after posting like 3 comments (on a first offense no less with no means to appeal)
  16. lol,and Intel, even though they didn't make their estimated earnings, are lowering the price on the ARC 750 GPU's . SOMEBODY plans on selling some video cards.....
  17. (Wife says from other room) "Dear,I'm turning the heat back up,I'm cold." (As he hears the dry hot air start blowing through the room) "Noooo!"
  18. No,NO! I was inspired ALSO by the original "[MOD] LGA775 Support For LGA771 Xeon CPUs" thread on OCN and made a separate thread that was devoted to the modded bios for the rigs. XEON Microcodes added to Socket 775 bios <---- Roughly a hundred modded bios collected in 1 thread. The 771 mod was what got me into all this and why I made an OCN account. I made friends there and followed some here and brought a couple with me. lol
  19. I have a 750ti that I tried in it and it kept crashing on boot. I think it was drawing too much from the pci-e (it only has a 250 power supply and I'm not sure what the pci-e supplies on this board.(yes it's a 945g, no it won't do a quad 771) lol, I use to keep a thread on ocn for the 771 bios mods. That was what got me into playing with these things.
  20. I use EaseUS Partion Master Free edition, lets me delete and format drives and sections along with renaming ect. See my 3 drives I'm using at the moment. Disk 0 = 2Tb HDD for testing software,Music,Vids, and non Steam games(epic,GoG,ect) Disk 1 = 1Tb NVMe with the Win 10 OS and other junk related to it(recovery ect) Disk 2 = 3Tb USB 3/7200 RPM HDD with Steam games and some other Windows junk like Pics ect. You can see each drive in the screen shot included.
  21. Didn't want to hijack pio's thread, but here's something I played around with a while back and still keep updated.
  22. Another member has been building older AMD machines for a collection of all the amd cpu's, and a member said they'd like to see what he could do with a socket 775. Instead of hijacking his thread, I made this one to show an old Compaq I refurbed then actually DOWNGRADED some to try to win the lowest spot on the CPUz benchmark test a while back(didn't make it). Here's some pics and a brief description of what I did. Screenshot_1 & _2 shows the original upgrade to the C2D E4700 while shot _4 shows the test results after switching to the Pentium E2160 The OEM cpu was a Celeron 430,a 1 core cpu at 1.8 GHz I replaced the 2 sticks of 512Mb ram with 2 sticks of 2Gb ram and added a 1Gb Radeon Hd 8490 OEM video card to give it discrete graphics that would work halfway good. The OS is now Windows 10. The Tape closing off part of the grills on the side panel is so the air gets pulled from the from across the board and out the back from the rectangular opening and not just from the square opening right over the cpu area.
