I do not agree, DDR4 is still a very capable platform, especially when running 8 channels. It will smoke any retail DDR5 kit up until this point. I will say that new hardware is pushed on us like we need it, or we need it to bench to stay on top. Neither points are true. Especially because these processors are in the not so distant past, I can just simply double up on them in a dual processor configuration to gain back the performance losses. With the turbo hack, I should be able to go further as well. Heck even my 2969 v2 z820 does (DDR3) 100GB/s in R/W/C in terms of memory bandwidth. That's far better than you will see than with the latest and greatest quad channel 6000-6400MHz DDR5 configuration. -

You called it. Also note the same logic can be used in eBay bidding theory. Never bid, you are only jacking the price up on yourself. Snipe it I usually count down the seconds and win BC I pull the trigger a few seconds before the auction ends, and by then it's too late for them because they don't see the bid until it's submitted. -

Good tip. And I will be prepared for doing just that! Danger close! Look for my build log/thread shortly if you want to follow along with me as the build progresses. -

Good timing because Im getting the 9600KF rig back in line today. So I will sign up today. Also ordered the reminder of my z840 system today, another good thing. Total spent was under $1000 including everything I need. Old Z820 did 100Gb/s r/w/c with 8 channel ddr3, so this should be substantially higher. Thinking if I can turbo hack, I might need to add another radiator to the system but it's very easy to modify, interestingly enough. We will see tho. The CPUs only cost about $150 per. So I am getting much better value for my money than mainstream retail market, in the sense that I should get at least 5950X performance for a lot less, also lucked out and found two grade A chips which appear to have never been used. They are fresh at the very least. Only other source on eBay is typical hard used grade C. with scratches -

Best I can do right now is: I know, it's a puny 214W. But it's the best I can muster (right now) (cpu wise), locked down, each processor is limited to 110w. (2x 2673 v2 OEM xeons) 16 core / 32 thread in total. 4GHz single core turbo / 3.6GHz all core. Basically the OEM equivalent of the 2667 v2, with 10 watts less power usage but same turbo specs. -

No doubt. It is true, the better achievement is more with more (I do live by the hard and fast rule that there is no replacement for displacement) EDIT: But I also like selecting a specific CPU and trying to compete with others who have the same chip, for frequency, overclocking, etc (regardless of cores, it's just fun for me) That's why I have 36C/72T HP Z840 workstation coming to the table soon. Technology is a little old but sixteen module, octal channel 2400MHz DDR4 across two CPUs should generate some substantial bandwidth and good results in some benchmarks. I think the CPUs can be turbo hacked and are water cooled from the factory. I will be using two 18C/36T Xeon E5 2696 V3 processors. These are 145 w TDP each and have a single core turbo of 3.8GHz. Also going with the 1125W PSU.... (its also a tool less design) -

As I said I would put some runs up, from the recent past. Still needs a little work and I am down a pump but I know when we get cold weather I should be able to come close to these scores. Obviously power to weight only (meaning mostly single core rated benches), the CPU only has 6 cores after all. -

I didn't know I was on the HW bot team for extremeHW??? Did u send me an invite? In that case I have some work to do. The rig actually needs a lot of work right now (excuses, I know ). After you read this you'd think my rig survived a tornado. And in some ways, it has, lol. It's also survived water, methanol, sub zero temps, etc. I short circuited one of the memory slots even though I gave it quite a bit of time to dry, rotating the rig (working on the cooling system) a line came lose and dropped some coolant on the memory slots. Consequently, I think this rig has already had it's day in the sun (Hence latest project is HP z840 workstation). I can still bench the CPU but cannot use anything but stock settings on the memory speed and timings (stuck at 2133MHz, even though it will run whats in sig in very cold weather pre- cooling accident). I need to replace a pinched line and I also lost my 3rd barrow D5 pump, I first lost PWM for the pump and then it went out completely, so my flow rate is not so good. We do have some cold weather coming up so I will make one more effort with this rig coming up later in the week with just two pumps, the ported heatkiller and ambient temps likely in the mid teens. However, I do already have some 5.6GHz single core R15 results. As well as some 5.6GHz with Pie Fast and other similar benchmarks on benchmate which I will post here later. (im running on the z820 rig right now for aforementioned problems, 9600KF relegated to my hide-out in the bomb shelter in the basement for now.) -

Yes I do, and I had time to get a chunk done so I figured I would publish but yes, I know it sucks to see updated results w/o your progress. I will get to your results soon. Thanks. -

Yes you guys are here to keep me in line. And that's okay. I did say that out loud. Seems to work best that way, at least for me, and getting missed results or problems sorted out, lol. -

Since @Bastiaan_NL and others posted some great single core numbers I wanted to post a single core leaderboard as well... (I still have to update some of the notes) Just look at that! ADL P core FTW! -

Okay guys managed to finally get things updated. I wish I could say I'd have more time to continually update real time but I just can't do it with everything else going on. Consequently, updates will be about once a week or so if I can manage that.... And going forward please post relatively new results for this we want it to be fresh hardware results if possible from here on out. Thanks. I colored the intel scores to further draw a delineation between intel and AMD results. If u don't think it fits we can revert back to red only for overall score category. Thank You. If you see anything out of place let me know and I will get it fixed. -

I say burn it down intentionally! Every processor eventually has to die at some point, so let it live gloriously. You know, going out like a shooting star is better than living BS low stock clock speeds for years and years. But I think we've had this conversation before. Crank it up. -

Currently massing parts for a dual processor workstation which will perhaps be a little more competitive against the IPC king, the 12900K -HP Z840 core (supports up to two processors). -Two Xeon 18 Core E5 2696v3 processors (total will be 36C/72T) -3.8 GHz turbo, perhaps can be turbo hacked -145 W TDP -Octal Channel DDR4 memory -

That's really some of the main reasons I went with the 9600KF (at the time I had plenty of money to go with the 9900K). Plus I like to be unique, for a while there everyone and their brother had a 9900K/KF and I didn't want to fit the mold with my rig. -
Desert camo color scheme would be a good idea. Only way to salvage that horrific two tone puke brown look that Noctua seems to love. MSI has some boards and a couple GPUs over the years that might be suitable. yeah, that could work... I know this is more winter camo but I've had my heart set on using this case for a future build which will probably contain a 12600KF processor. Nice to see a "proper" 2600K set up and dialed in exactly as God intended. -

Havent heard that processor mentioned in a month of sundays. But yeah, it was the same for me but I had the AMD K6 2 450 (with 3d now) instead. I think the pentium II logo will be forever etched into my memory. In my early PC enthusiast days it was the gold standard for a while there.
