  1. Rounding out my 9600KF build with quad channel memory. Hope to run at 4200MHz CL15
  2. Looks like you are patriot in every sense of the word. props for being bold like that.
  3. I have a flow indicator, not an actual flow meter. I'm sure you've seen it, usually clear with a wheel that spins... yeah. Also, I can measure by sight how quickly air bubbles fly through the tubing, it's not an exact science, but it's ballpark. It does make sense that this one would flow better because the passages are much wider for water to travel through, so it flows less impeded.
  4. After further testing what I've noticed is this: -Cheap water block has almost identical performance at idle and under loads up to 80% -Above this, the heatkiller does outperform it. But keep in mind, this CPU has a fairly heavy overclock going and lots of vcore. -So it's really proven itself as viable already.
  5. Us too. My brother and I and some friends. We used to play all over, VT, NY, Canada, and other places. I never competed like my brother did but I did take it seriously and was still the ping pong champion at my high school! Are those all sheets of rubber on the wall?? My current paddle is Yasaka Extra offensive 7 power. paired with Tibhar 5Q rubber. Makes for a decent lowerish-high end setup. Overall it's nothing special but it has a good balance all around and lots of power if you want it..
  6. Make no mistake Im all in for the custom audio, Im already researching the hardware side of this upgrade! Should definitely be a thrill building a custom system, cant imagine its too far off from the thrill of building a computer. The Logitech will be repurposed in a couple months to make way for the new system for which I am already assessing parts and sound theory. In my last post I was just reflecting on the logitechs, not to keep them but I was still impressed. There is a small earthquake that happens wheneveer the beat drops and both subs together will rattle windows on the 3rd floor. It's absolutely sick!
  7. She's tuned real good or at least within my reach of limited audio knowledge. TBH its killer. Check my youtube channel for other audio tests as well, as I just uploaded a couple more videos today
  8. It doubles as a garage / shop so it's way too difficult to keep it in perfect shape, gets so much use. More of a man cave than anything else. Like a lot of garages, real estate is in demand, so things are piled up. It's a working area so it appears cluttered, but floor is swept every day.
  9. So I just snapped a couple more pictures. This is a ground floor area originally doubled as a two car garage and before that, for horses. In this iteration, you will see the two doors are now covered with silver reflective insulation to keep the heat in, so the wall straight ahead past my desk is where the doors are. The window sill to my right is where the Israeli flag hangs, and so the right rear speaker will be mounted to that window frame. The left rear speaker will be mounted from the hood itself. So not perfect symmetry but thats okay. Yeah that first picture was bad, to much glare. These aren't much better but at least you can see the hood. The window frame is wooden so I don't have to worry about destroying the sheetrock when mounting the right rear speaker. This picture is especially bad. But the z5500 woofer is in the foreground. the z625 is just beyond my chair, in the background. Again both subs are visible in this shot. The front of the house is obviously on this side, you can just see the hood coming into view in the far right hand corner of the screen. A better shot of the hood itself. A bet
  10. But after further testing it does appear as though the heatcooker pulls ahead by about 10*F under really heavy workloads. Still, that only means with el cheapo Im still well within temp parameters. @Sir Beregond
  11. No you are not sending me down the rabbit hole at all! I'm still going to build a custom audio system for this room!! All of your advice and that of @Snakecharmed and others has not been lost. Because I am committed not only to this project but to have audio become a hobby for me. Im already pre-disposed due to overclocking background. This thread is an excellent building block and makes a great starting point. I think you guys have sold me on audio since page 2 or so. Just saying, I'm super impressed with this hybrid system right now, especially with the subs back on the ground. Really just marveling over that, considering what it was like on day one. I know my custom audio project will be even more powerful and stronger. When I do build my custom system this logitech one will go upstairs and be repurposed for the PC on the back porch.
  12. I was always under the impression more speakers lead to more immersive sound, like more memory or something. I can in fact pull off 5.1 because there is a wooden window sill to my right that I can mount the speaker on. In reference to the left, It will be bolted to the "hood" you see there in the pic (on the ceiling), mounted and obviously pointed in my direction. They will be reciprocal. Im keeping my new systems, no reason to get rid of them bc what you are recommending would be a downgrade. Besides the z5500 has an option for 2.1 if I wanted it. In any event I am VERY happy with the way this thing thumps after tweaking some things. You can hear it boom from the end of the driveway, which is about 200 feet away. Now that the subs are on ground level, it's very powerful and crisp. Both subs complement each other very well. As do the satellite speakers. Sounds so much better than the first day I had it set up where I was not impressed. Plus I like to have options, and redundancy. And I can quickly switch between both systems, to control pitch and have a little more modulation in the frequency spectrum. Now, it's sounding very very good. Wish I could capture it on a recording for you guys but you cant really get the immersive experience from that. Never the less, I will take a video and show you the progress I've made since day one.
  13. No other seated positions. We do, however, play some ping pong here. I like to crank the volume up for that. Not that we will move the subs for that, as you can see from the layout below - the arrows show the location of each sub and the red dots are the small speakers, in total seven of them.. This just will allow you to visualize the room I am working with. I still need to get the satellite speakers in position, right now they are just behind the monitor but still sound very good back there. Side note, for cold weather overclocking I put a small desk in front of the garage door and run everything out to the front of the house. This gives me the best of both worlds when overclocking. I can remain indoors in perfect comfort and heat with a wood burning stove going and on the outside the temp can be -5*F and it's no problem. Hence:
  14. I just cant believe this performs on par with a heatkiller IV. Im putting about 160 w full avx load. And the flow rate is insane, at least double what it used to be. Much, much less restrictive than a heat killer.
  15. LOL I just rolled the dice, kinda hoping I would luck out and hit the probabilities! I wasn't exactly sure who posted that and didn't want to spend time backtracking.
  16. Very interesting. I will look into this avenue as well. And thanks for telling me to put subs on the floor because that made a huge difference. Now I can feel the beat in my chest if Im in the firing line. Im actually really liking this system now that the subs are on the ground. @pioneerisloudDo you really only think my system as it stands right now is putting out less than 200W? I can see Logitech exaggerating by a couple hundred watts but damn that seems like a lowball to me.
  17. El cheapo water block from Amazon. This is a $14.99 made in China water block, but it looks like someone actually put in the time to make it somewhat viable. Hell, it cools my 9600KF rig just as well as my heatkiller IV, which costs over $100. Hard to believe but it's true. temps... heck even running elevated Vcore was no problem. Im usually at 1.395.
  18. we can all get along here. I see both of your points. Sometimes you have to skim a thread, just the nature of the beast.
  19. But Im curious spec wise, I know you've already broken it down for me but there are alot of other details I want to familiarize myself with. Also, can this sub be used in a home theatre situation / custom audio build bc its clearly designed for a car.
  20. If for some reason I cant use the z5500 woofer in my custom audio system, I was thinking of pulling the trigger on something like this... Check out the specs below, is this particular subwoofer going to be "compatible" with my soon to be future custom audio project?
  21. well I have my work cut out for me but Im looking forward to this because for me, music is life. I really do want the best sound I can get. Thanks again, to all. I will update this thread when new information becomes available. I probably wont be able to move on this for a month or two. So 20 questions is over for now, but fair warning it may start again when I begin to build/ setup my new audio system.
  22. Wow you came within inches. That's definitely too close for comfort! Bitchin system I must say! good job on that OC.
  23. It's hard to explain... I'm on the ground floor of a cure cottage. So kind of like a basement, but on ground level. It's about 75 percent furnished/finished. It's always a little cooler downstairs than upstairs which makes for a good overclocking environment. The room has two garage doors at the front and the floor is cement, if that matters here. So to respond to your question, it's about 25' by 40' by 14'. It has particle board for a ceiling. Both walls consist of old school sheetrock followed by cinder blocks, followed by the outside layers. Yes, I notice the subs sound better on the floor but for this system I just wanted to get it all set up first and then work on sub placement later. In my limited experience, seems to work better when you have some particle board or a wooden wall in close proximity to the sub. Almost like a secondary enclosure (something approx like 4x 10 on one side of the woofer with the port aligned optimally. Does this make sense to you guys? Question for you or @pioneerisloud I apologize if this was already answered. Any reason I can't repurpose the Logitech subs or at least the woofer enclosures? I was thinking of bypassing the stock amp completely and wire the Logitech woofer directly to my amplifier or whatever (directly to my future custom audio system). I mean a 10' is no joke, it really does hit hard when the right song is playing. If the subs themselves are up to the task, I would want to capitalize on that. Or, if I cant do that, can I gut the enclosures and replace with high quality components? Figure if I already have them... I also have the z5300 subwoofer just sitting here, but that would have to be dismantled with a tablesaw.
  24. So Im still curious about the subwoofer configuration. Seems like it would be beneficial to have two subs? A small one and a big one so you can cover the entire range? Kind of like what I am doing now with these Logitech subs?
