  1. Aye, optimal or not, all 3 of my radiator/fan installations are pure "intake". I have a single 140mm rear and four 120mm side fans all operating as exhaust. I presume if the air in my "lab" is cooler than the air in my case there will be a slight benefit .
  2. I keep thinking the Illusive Man is still after me every time I read his name.
  3. Nice video @Mr. Fox . A hypothetical for yourself, and the other sub-ambient OC'ers around these parts: if the radiators were internal rather than external and we had unlimited chiller capacity, would there be any likely performance benefits to circulating the chilled coolant through our radiators and using the case fans mounted to those radiators to take most of the entire system sub ambient rather than the CPU/GPU blocks alone? I suppose answers will depend on a host of factors (i.e., how aggressive and how hot a DRAM "profile" are we running etc.), but I was just curious to hear some general impressions/perceptions related to this scenario. Also, in this "whole rig sub ambient" scenario if we keep the fan RPM way up, and very slowly lower case temperatures, can we avoid condensation?
  4. I may be eating a substantial amount of crow after suggesting it looked like it was going to be a "DOA dumpster fire" of a product
  5. I know this isn't what you asked for, but if you take one of the other existing ones of the same size to a plumbing supply or HVAC supply store they can likely match it up for you I think. I might let them know upfront that it is likely metric. For that matter, I think even Harbor Freight may sell "metric o-ring assortments" pretty cheap. I do understand though if you are reluctant to use an o-ring somebody only "thinks" is the right size.
  6. Not the exact formulation/brand that we use at work, but those "gasket maker" compounds that never quite "dry" are some handy to have around . Often needed when the mating surfaces can move slightly more than "typical" in relation to one another.
  7. I would hazard a guess that it will be of totally negligible restriction unless severely clogged. Well, before I commit to that, what is your expected flow rate in that circuit?
  8. Damn what a filter. Of what material is the screen made if I may so enquire?
  9. 100%. It seems like "trade-off" is the name of the game in most facets of the overclocking realm. Something most of you guys have known for a long time and I'm only beginning to see for myself.
  10. Another thing to keep in mind, very few (room temperature) liquids have the "heat energy transport" capacity of plain old water. Methanol, in particular, is a significantly poorer coolant when comparing raw capacity for energy transport. A given volume/s of a 50/50 mix of methanol and water will "haul away" less energy from your block than an equal volume/s of pure water. I don't recall from school if this is all down to the specific heat of the two substances, or if other factors come into play as well (like "thermal conductivity") This phenomenon is a pretty common "tradeoff" when deciding how strong to mix things like antifreeze. Pure water cools the engine better (under "normal" operating conditions), but we need the added benefits of the additives in automotive antifreeze (freeze protection, boiling point elevation, corrosion inhibition, etc.) Hope this is helpful as you fellas map out your "extreme" cooling strategies.
  11. Pssh, I've used "Scott Shop Towels" for decades. Though I certainly also highly recommend them...
  12. Just down the road in Paris, TN. Where the Tennessee River crosses into Kentucky .
  13. Swing by some time, we keep 99% methanol in bulk (we dilute it to make liquid tractor tire ballast). Normally, any business that can supply bulk fuel or oil can also supply bulk methanol. We currently pay $3.44/gallon. Diluted to 25%, our cost is $0.86/gallon of liquid ballast. If you required "lift-gate" service the price would likely go up (we unload with our own forklifts).
  14. In my 25+ years of PC gaming, I have never played another multiplayer game that compares to EVE. For my preferences, it is too good. Even 5 years after leaving it completely, I still miss the community I left there. Enjoying it long term is, in large part, dependent on finding an in game "family" that fits you, but that is also the problem. It can wrap it tentacles around you. I had to put it aside to remain a productive person outside of gaming. The trailers often only emphasize combat, but it has far more than "spaceship pew pew" to offer.
  15. <casts shifty eyes at the 2 unused DIMMS in the closet>
  16. @iamjancoare those "anti-kink" devices on the tubing?
  17. If prestone 50/50, a little under minus thirty Fahrenheit I think (presumably at 1atm of pressure).
  18. , Oh man, I made a mountain out of a mole hill (was just being goofy), and now we have both fallen of the mountain
  19. Apparently I cannot . I thought it said it was only 3Mpa . Well .
  20. 435.113 (I know, I know...forgive me, but I exact figures lol)
  21. Section31 over at OCN said something similar regarding them. Thank you for the confirmation that they are a quality product. They presented themselves as such (though the cynic in me suspects EK convinced them to cut some corners for the EK versions, similar to the difference between buying a John Deere at Lowes and buying one at a John Deere dealership, they are usually a totally different grade of product), but it's good to have a firsthand account.
  22. This has been of interest to me despite having no "server" hardware. I have seen it suggested elsewhere that manually setting the paging file size to 0 would benefit the longevity of an SSD. If this was ever accurate, I don't believe it to be so now, certainly not in a "useful during the expected life of the product" case for an SSD in a "gaming" desktop. I have even seen it suggested that eliminating the paging file would boost certain common benchmark scores, though no evidence was included to support this contention.
  23. I liked the specs on Z royals when I was shopping, but went with ripjaws so I wouldn't be paying extra for bling I would be hard pressed to not remove .
