  1. well, if you ask me...
  2. it's all that subliminal stuff you've been sharing. you've even got me saying "NO" at everything now.
  3. I did get a kick out of their fiasco though.
  4. Indeed, great song; always reminds me of the first time I heard it in Madrid, sitting on Gary's living room floor in his crib in Canalejas, Madrid, just after the two of us had returned from a month in Turkey. We partied hard in those days (it was ca. early December, 1974).
  5. I'm glad I wasn't drinking milk when I read that.
  6. Really though, I think we should put A to the test. For display purposes only:
  7. Tempered glass and scratch proof, it's great for measuring and cutting play-doh and other things:
  8. No need to apologize, it's obviously true in many cases these days. That said, I lean more toward (than not) being a strong believer in you take care of someone, and they'll take care of you. Due diligence notwithstanding, of course. OTOH, if you wrong someone, they might just disappear you. I keep a running list
  9. Chuckle, my regular UPS guy has taken great care of me for as long as I've lived at my current address. He really is a great guy, and is like that with everyone; but I make sure he gets a clean, crisp President Grant in a card each Xmas. Next Xmas it'll probably be a Benjamin. Coz inflation, of course.
  10. Excellente! You've got to have a sufficient supply of banana chips if you want to be existential.
  11. I'm afraid to add all the hardware I've got for fear of inducing extreme depression in others, perhaps even forcing them over the cliff. Actually... I've just become too lazy when it comes to filling out sig rig info, completing build logs, etc. It just doesn't do a whole lot for me lately. I much prefer to just hang out and help others when I can, as well as make others smile/laugh occasionally. I'm starting to feel like a real grandpa, both literally and figuratively. Heck, I might even be one any number of places in the world without really knowing about it.
  12. Lol, consider it a "duh" moment, but don't get it confused with the AARP (some might think I'm a candidate). "Derr" might work as well
  13. Cool. I had thought about using them during the earlier phases of my "collage" project, but decided against it. You'll have to share what you end up making with us--I could see them being used for things like (e.g.) temp/flow/stat monitoring. Anyway, two new items showed up at my door today: a desk/keyboard lamp (it's actually a piano keyboard lamp); oh, and another motherboard. Old eyes are getting tired and the keyboard I'm currently using isn't lit. So, I did my eyes a favor and got something to match everything else.
  14. @Avacado For future reference, just in case: Find Device or IP Address using MAC Address Free – Here’s a Quick Tutorial & Guide!
  15. Neat--you making a "digital" clock?
  16. Yeah, marketing can be a wonderful thing, can't it? Reminds me of The Expert... Then there's Steve Martin's Langstrom seven inch gangly wrench, which is rumored to have been used by Chrysler technicians to tighten up the play in the Turbo Encabulator's reciprocating dingle arm when nothing else would work:
  17. Stellarator (it was mentioned toward the end of the video)? Sounds a lot like Chrysler's Turbo Encabulator to me.
  18. bant coz but yeah, you've got to admit it's survived the test of time, horde invasions, volcanic eruptions, ravaging floods, plague doctors, deep throats (not to mention linda lovelace flicks), among a lot of other surprises. heck, it doesn't even use batteries; and you don't have to wake it up, nor is it woke. try doing that with your platinum warranties
  19. For the Asus Dark Hero build: I also just caved and paid $929 (plus tax and shipping) for a cpu. But at least I can put that issue to bed now (Frank said go for it): Would have cost me more in fuel and time to drive down to my nearest Microcenter, where the seller just happens to also be located (even I get to rationalize my exorbitant purchases sometimes).
  20. Yup, that. When you compare the thermal conductivity of thermal paste/putty/pads to that of copper itself, it makes sense (roughly 6-17W/mK, depending on what you use, vs. the ~385W/mK of copper).
