  1. A proper antique made in 'merica worthy of my menagerie "collage" to replace the failed made in china cheap junk i bought less than two years ago. Just need to oil it once a year (no sealed bearings or bushings here; it has an oil wick). It's also almost as old as i am @The Pook: What it's replacing:
  2. flow dropped to about .8gpm with the reconfigured loop. we'll see if I can't bump that up once leak testing is done. pumps -> kpe hydrocopper block + backplate block -> rad1 -> cpu -> rad2 -> flowmeter -> res, through a gazillion convolutions. more eye candy while the leak test runs its course:
  3. if i told you, they'd have you vaporized. i like you too much to allow that to happen*. *note: in a platonic sort of way.
  4. they're not, it's a ruse. if you look closely, they don't stock the stuff.
  5. It's actually been fluctuating on Amazon since before COVID, at least the MG version has. I paid: $17.79 for a quart on June 12, 2017 $12.87 on June 11, 2018 $12.86 on February 19, 2019 $20.03 on July 15, 2020 $16.84 on May 14, 2021 $18.53 for the most recent order on August 30, 2021. Currently, you can order a quart sized six pack via Amazon, which reduces the price per to $10.29 each. It can be had for less elsewhere these days, but not much less if you factor in shipping to the total cost: I suspect the days of yours pricewise are gone forever though, at least at the spec'd qty. (Welcome to the new world order...)
  6. So I've been busy troubleshooting a flow problem that drove me up the wall for an hour or two. Everytime I'd start up the pumps, flow would peak at about 1gpm, then drop to a fraction of that, regardless of which flow meter i had hooked up. Turns out the bitspower inline filters i had left in the loop were clogging up the works. Took them out, and flow bypassing the rads was about 2.1gpm, which dropped to 1.8gpm when i added the rads in series into the equation: You can see the inline filter in that third pic. Mind you, that was running two Watercool pwm d5s in series without running a pwm signal to them. Didn't bother connecting the pwm lines to 5VDC (could be they were running at 60%, but I'd have to verify that to be sure). I'll split the rads apart now that i know flow is working properly and run the loop gpu block and rear block -> rad -> cpu -> rad. Once i power up the motherboard, i'll be able to verify if more can be squeezed out of the pump setup.
  7. now you're actually acting awfully orange. :::: woof, woof!!! :::: anyway, showed up today because i got tired of dustoff that works like shyte (my new anti-satanic (sp) blower, among a few other things):
  8. Yeah, I certainly agree, especially in the case of more current gear. But now that I'm a "pensioner," I'll be putting the W530 to bed in the near future. Can't complain about it though: it made me a lot of money over the years and lasted longer than any other computer I've ever owned.
  9. I've got an older Lenovo W530 laptop with a smaller C drive in it that was running out of free space, so I hunted down a page chock full of helpful info that allowed me to double my remaining space. Some of you may already be aware of some of the steps found in that page, but I don't recall having ever messed with what I think are called junction links (mklink, which essentially allows you to create something that works sort of like symlinks/environment variables that link the original folder to a new folder on another drive): Is C Drive Full? - 13 Effective Ways to Free Up C Drive Space I actually went from just under 40GB free space remaining on the C drive to just under 85GB when it was all said and done. Note: One thing I should mention that's not spelled out clearly in that page about using mklink: you want to cut (not copy) the folder out of the (e.g.) C drive and paste it and its content into your preferred location on another drive, then go back and delete the content in the original folder BEFORE applying the mklink process. Once the symbolic link is established, you don't want to remove any files from the original folder (I found that out the hard way, oops).
  10. When you're almost 70 and discover that which is necessary in your world. In your soul. And you just dance. --comment by MagicBullet on YouTube.
  11. Depends on the medical professional and the relationship you have with them. Dr. Livack from the old country lived across the street from us when I was a kid. Best doctor I ever knew. I've got a lot of mixed feelings about the medical professionals I've met and continue to meet these days. I've met the odd good one, but I've met a lot more mediocre ones, including a few who were really bad.
  12. nobody was stated explicitly, not the man with no name. bant.
  13. Sounds like a real can of worms, E. You recently bought a house too, didn't you?
  14. fish. how do you know he isn't the pook? for that matter, how do you know i'm not the pook? ban fawlty towers logic
  15. Saw that article yesterday myself and thought about sharing it until I actually read it:
  16. Thanks for the comments! Glad those fan brackets worked out for you. For what they do, they do it well. Anyway, getting closer to running coolant through it: Changes I made since my last post in this thread: I took the AquaComputer Flow 400 flowmeters out from where I had them mounted near the dual pump setups connected to the two MORAs as they were just too close to the pumps. I might add them back in at a later date, but I'm really not too worried at this time because I'll take flow readings using the King Rotameters; I removed the drain setups I had between the same pumps and the QD connections to the test bench. I really don't need them now; I hooked up the CPU and GPU loops, and added temp sensors before and after the GPU/block combo; and one to the outlet port on the CPU block. That's it for now.
  17. Thanks, E Then you might enjoy these as well:
