  1. Oh no. no. You don't unclog catalytic converters without replacing them. The best you can do is use the bottled temporary bandaid solutions to keep it going for a little bit. As for the battery you have a parasitic draw somewhere more than likely. Or your battery just had high internal self discharge and needs to be replaced. Depends. Most car batteries are lucky to make it 3 or 4 years so if it's old replacing it can be considered preventative maintenance. Better to do it now than stuck in a parking lot somewhere.
  2. Lots of us long time members from the other board hopped on here as well. And we are quite happy with E's creative vision/work so far. I'm betting that in a few years there will be no better tech forum on the web than this one.
  3. I will second ProtonVPN. Is the best free VPN by a long shot, and the monthly plans are reasonably priced. They are also not US based which is nice as the laws are more favorable that way.
  4. HP has quite a few nice mid range models using Ryzen's with the iGPU. My aunt has one and it's a potent system for the $429 she paid. Also neat statistic to see.
  5. Upgraded my connection recently to 400/100 and it was super speedy for a few weeks, but now I've lost an awful lot of performance.
  6. Nice. Only trouble is my 3900X is already way more than I'd ever need, so I have no reason to upgrade except for giggles. I mean the passmark on the 3900X alone is 6k more than my dual Xeon 24 core rackmount server was. Crazy! I love it. Lol.
  7. I use Windscribe - The member package is $3 a month but even the free version is pretty good. Never lost any of my download or upload speed which was important to me. Works great!
  8. Yeah a similar thing happened with Skylake and the Skylake-OC feature on some motherboards. It was nerfed pretty quickly too.
  9. Nice - Competition has some side benefits, and hopefully like you said they can pour some more money into GPU R&D. The Radeon line has always been a great value but it's still far from calling the shots performance wise.
  10. Enterprise had you said something I have a G3930 sitting here I have no use for. I also have a really nice Z270 motherboard I need to find a home/buyer for.
  11. I have been thinking of hopping on the Nvidia 3080 Ti for a while now and will probably get one myself. Really I want something like the 1080 Ti was @ release, where it stayed relevant for so long (and still is relevant). Basically it comes down to useful lifespan & value for the money over the next 5 years for me. Have to figure, even at $1000 purchase price if I get 5 years out of it that's only $200 per year and not so bad at all. But buying a $200 video card every year would be a lower mid range system, not to mention dealing with driver issues and such. I almost have to laugh at how I can justify a $1000 PC part though. ?
  12. Yeah with most motherboards this will support 32gbX4 for up to 128gb DDR4. Plex/NAS budget king for sure.
  13. Oh, did apple release a new room deoderizer? Like a competitor to the glade pods. Lol only kidding.
  14. Just wait until you read about some of the linux installs on rackmount servers. We have an HP Dl380 G6 at work that hasn't been rebooted or lost power for close to a decade now, no joke. Though that's an exception as it's one of those goofy one off things where it shouldn't still be working but is. And the big boss man keeps putting off buying new hardware for us to replace it..
  15. Sounds like a good way to do things to me. I run a somewhat similar Ryzen 3900X system and am planning to add another 2x8gb memory sticks later this week myself.
  16. Oh wow the ideal specs are pretty surprising. Never seen 32gb in a recommended spec sheet for any piece of software or game before. I know the dev team for this has been working hard to get near GTA levels of detail and depth to their environments. Going to make for one heck of a game when it gets released.
  17. Oh heck yeah. These would make for awesome low cost NAS or Plex server options. AMD just keeps bringing more perf. options to the table every step they make.
  18. It's also likely to have the famed Quad-DAC. LG made a couple serious mis-steps with marketing their devices and were all but ready to pull out of the western market last I checked. So I wouldn't place any wagers on this device saving them, good as it may be.
  19. Very nice - Looks like a 4U rackmount case? Lots of possibilities with the large size & way it's set up. Is this for a home lab or something else?
  20. Forum doesn't like multiple images per post unless there's text first? Alright think I got the hang of this. All of this to go along with my half dead R9 390. Sort of imbalanced there.
  21. Maybe you would be interested to create a thread and enlighten us a little about the fire stick? I'd be curious to read more about being a media streaming superuser.
  22. I have gigabit in the house for my NAS and Plex server, but only 32/4 from spectrum. It's this odd situation where I'm using super capable equipment in an area where we lack the nicer fiber connection options. I can only imagine what sort of neat stuff terabit ethernet would allow for though.
  23. Post up your internet speed! https://www.speedtest.net or alternatively, fast.com is a quick and easy way to get your download speed.
  24. What I'm seeing is that things are becoming more like calculus and the old days were more like algebra. Everything is inter-related. Actually makes things more interesting for enthusiasts as there might be more opportunity for performance improvement that hasn't been capitalized on by companies yet.
