  1. Thanks for the idea but unfortunately the Arlo system is by design set to timeout during extended live viewing (20 minutes or so?) and I can't do a thing about it. Besides, if I access it from another device it will log off anyone watching it elsewhere. I am tempted to do the trail camera thing and attach it to a tree in the front lawn but the problem is my street is extremely busy so the battery would be dead very fast. I do know a few guys at a local security business I've been on many jobsites with over the years, perhaps I'll run it by them, thanks. Unfortunately due to my lease agreement (we go through a large management company) anything under $100 (which our current mailbox definitely cost less than that) is our problem. Not going to fight them over it as when they told me that I decided that I'm not replacing it and will leave in place the repairs I made on the current one. I took a 5lb mini sledge to reshape some metal and it's now affixed with zip ties in a way not noticeable unless you look for them. To be fair it's probably stronger than it was when new. I slapped a fresh coat of spray paint on it and called it a day.
  2. Hello all, So despite paying a ridiculous amount for Arlo cameras they have failed me yet again in detecting anything useful. For my front I have an Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight set to best quality and maximum motion sensitivity yet it somehow missed a vehicle smashing into my mailbox and sending the top of said mailbox flying which thankfully barely missed my car (it landed a foot away). That said, it seems like the majority of security companies these days are also deploying similar systems such as nest, ring, arlo, etc. I rent a home and cannot install a traditional wired CVR/DVR. I am looking to see if any of you have personal experience with a wireless camera CVR / DVR system that is reasonably priced? I will keep the Arlo systems for network based viewing as needed but want something that quite simply will not miss anything. CVR for my Arlo camera apparently will not work, either. In fact do yourself a favor and don't bother with Arlo at all. THANKS FOR ANY HELP AS ALWAYS!
  3. Umarex Octane bought cheap off a coworker. Only .177 Caliber but I had tons of pellets already and it's only going to be used for basic target practice and very, very small game hunting should the apocalypse happen. 1400fps break barrel but with the heavier pellets it's probably closer to 1000-1100fps.
  4. Big BF guy here too, been playing since BF1942. Aside from being a C4 Jeep guy (sorry, it's irresistible) I'm more of an infantry player and much like you, 5-1 ratio is hardly abnormal. Play BF2042 still since I'm a masochist for BF games but it's pretty good now. Forza games are usually pretty easy for me too, but the problem is when competing online the majority of people use assists (auto braking, line showing where to brake, speed, traction control, etc.) which completely ruin the fun and put me at a major disadvantage. That said, winning is that much more rewarding.
  5. A rainy day full of people angering me leads to the below
  6. GN is one of the only tech channels that does actual journalism... as usual. I haven't dedicated the time to watch any of these yet but I've kept up otherwise. Aside from an AIO (yes, one) I've not been a watercooling guy but EK was always the "go to" brand a newbie to it like me heard so it's quite interesting to see how the mighty have fallen.
  7. Never had a bike and still want one. Though I'd probably end up dead on one with the idiots that drive around here (especially with the random can't see a foot in front of you downpours).... and if that doesn't get my adrenaline junkie habits will. That said, I'd really like to have a dual purpose bike so I can take it off and on road as needed.
  8. Fine let me be the guy with questionable life choices ruining the thread
  9. Let's just say I'm loving these new tires How it started and how it went... All that underglow on that 6th Gen V6 Camaro wasn't saving him and that 370Z (with some exhaust work) is basically a 400-500lb lighter version of my car. Took a while for the Z to catch but he was catching up as he should be with the weight difference. I will say Mexico is nice this time of year though.
  10. To follow up, PSI was at 35 which is what I typically run in this car on the rears. I'll judge the perceived sidewall flex more when I have a matching set up front. I did a hard launch from a dig and this thing hasn't hooked like this in a long time. Did a u turn at a speed where the back end normally would break loose and it bit it so much more than expected that I almost slid out of my seat. For a $20 difference per tire I'm sold... so far.
  11. Just got the rears done on mine today. I concur, my General G-MAX AS-05's were pretty comfy especially with my tire size of 225/55/17 having plenty of sidewall but these are clearly superior. Once the front's are swapped it will definitely be a better ride. That said, I've got to check the PSI they put in, as they seem to flex quite a bit more on turns which is not what I expected, at all. Grip is more than restored though and that's with less than 50 miles so it will only improve for a bit from here. Only down side is that the G-MAX tires just looked better on the car compared to these but that doesn't matter when the tire that looks 'worse' (subjectively) performs better anyways.
  12. Look at this guy with his fancy garage not entirely full of junk because your house has no storage space... I wish I could wash the car in the garage... let alone keep the car in the garage. Florida's sun doesn't play and my clearcoat is failing fast.
  13. Be a man and drive on the red line like a hooligan.
  14. My area in FL has enough days during the winter that drop into the low 30's which is one of the reasons I haven't run a pure summer tire. Winter tires are pointless here otherwise so it's a tradeoff. This, plus I want to know I can take my car into *most* areas without issue.
  15. Ordered and will have the DWS-06 Plus on the rears this Sunday. I'm still running the G-MAX AS-05 up front for now as they are in excellent condition, but mixing tires is far from ideal and bothers me greatly so I'll swap them in like 5-10k miles.
  16. Yea, so roughly 600-700lbs heavier for my G37. As someone whose heaviest prior vehicle ever owned was under 3100lbs (yes even my 1988 Jeep Comanche with an iron block 4.0 Inline 6) it kills me how weight wears down tires so much faster. I started using the General G-MAX AS-03's back when I had a 2013 Hyundai Accent (2500lbs) and those tires were a great fit for the car. In fact I was more confident taking some turns in that econobox than I am in the G37 which is clearly a skill / confidence issue, not the cars capability. Either way, I have been using the G-MAX line ever since but I think this car is just too heavy for their construction. Hopefully you like the tires, I'm going to pick them up hopefully next week.
  17. Yea, I was looking at those but unfortunately they don't offer anywhere near my requirements in size. I'm running the smallest setup the car comes with from the factory (225/55 /17). Downside is having to feather the pedal as needed.. but when it grips the combo of the sidewall flex and lighter tire/rims makes for some pretty nasty launches considering it's rwd with an open diff. The G-MAX's were pretty good but this last set really does feel like they changed the formula for the worse as even when they were new I was spinning unexpectedly in far too many situations. DWS-06 or the newer 06 Plus? I'd imagine your Veloster (not sure of year/model) is at least a few hundred pounds lighter than my car but I'm curious to see how it does.
  18. My '98 Prelude with the H22A was such a great car, except you had to near redline to have any usable power. I do miss it at times.. The VQ37VHR in my G37 is also high rpm power (redline is at 7500 w/ peak 330hp at 7000, peak torque of 276ftlbs around 5200) but the torque curve is fairly decent so it's much more usable day to day. That said, I need new rear tires.. have a chunk/flat spot on the General G-MAX AS-05's already... Which is funny because when I bought these over the prior AS-05's I had I could tell right away they changed the tire or maybe I just got a bad batch. They now discontinued the AS-05's and are offering the AS-07's but I think and from what I've read spending the extra $20 per tire and getting some Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 Plus' is probably worth it. Being I live in FL I should just go with summer tires but I already spend enough on replacements as is with this boat of a car.
